How do I begin to describe the many ways in which this property differs from the description posted here on airbnb? Before I attempt this, I must disclose that we checked-in before the owner, Buz, suggested we do so. The disgusting state of this suite was moderately improved after the cleaner arrived at 1pm, but the level of cleanliness was still so poor that our party seriously considered relocating to a hotel. To make our experience even worse, Buz was defensive when we contacted him to complain and offered zero compensation. To quote Buz: “I did you a big favor by allowing you to check in early. I said at 1pm, not before. You decide arbitrarily to come in at noon.” We have reported this listing to airbnb.
First, the images used for this listing are significantly dated, and must have been taken immediately after a renovation. The blinds are all damaged, all of the upholstery is stained and dirty, and heaters are rusty and falling off the walls. Second, much of the cutlery and dishware was filthy, and we had to rewash most of it in order to use it. The cleaner didn’t touch any utensils or tableware. Third, many of the “amenities” don’t work: the elements on the stove work but the oven is broken, the laundry machine is at least 20 years old and stops mid-cycle every time, and the wifi only works near the front of the suite. Lastly, this is an unsanitary space in general. The bath was full of hair, the insides of the kitchen cupboards were covered with food, and the futon cover was unacceptably dirty, considering this is a sleeping space. Two of the beds, including the pullout, were stained with bodily fluids. Fortunately, our group brought extra bedding.
We have taken photos of everything if you'd like to see examples. I strongly encourage you to email us for images of how deceitful the airbnb listing is for this suite: (email hidden)
Sorry Buz, this property is absolutely light years away from how it is described. This stay was booked to celebrate my dad’s 70th birthday and your property really put a damper on our trip to LA.
Good location near the beach. The included parking space was a bonus, especially for the Venice area. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Buz is a good host. Definitely recommended.
Great spot. Central location.
The apartment is good and near the beach. Buzz was a great host.
Buz's house has a really convenient location with only several minutes' walk to the beach, though it takes us some time to find the house. The house is clean and surrounded by trees. I'm definitely willing to visit Santa Monica and live in this house again.
The place is located very close to the beach and therefore amazing for the day time. We had great breakfast in the area and there are a couple of nice bars (Hotel Erwin!!!) in the area. We only stayed for 1 night and all amenities have been really good. During night time there are a lot of homeless people in the area which one has to get used to.
Saying that we wouldn't recommend exceeding a number of 7-8 people to stay there at the time since there is only one bathroom.
This was our second time at Buz's Venice beach house. We had four families (8 people, including two kids) with us and stayed in the top and middle floors. We love this place and hope to come back again! The apartments have everything you need, with so many sleeping options, they hold more people with the pull out couches and little hidden away sleeping areas. We especially love the location -it is so close to the beach and all the interesting spots along the boardwalk yet it is quiet, safe, and has a residential feel. Having the bikes, boogie boards, and sand toys was a huge bonus that we took advantage of. Buz is always available by email and phone if there are any issues or questions and Kevin, who works for Buz, was so friendly and helpful- he immediately stepped in when there was an issue with the fridge, an accidentally changed door code (thanks to my kids), and even found us a tiny bike for my 6 year old just as we were about to go rent one. Highly recommended spot. Thank you Buz and Kevin!
