Other Things to Note
This is a pet friendly apartment.
On the plus side, Saskia is prompt at replying to emails. The apartment is in a very good location. The is plenty of hot water in the bathroom. The wifi works well. The back yard is a plus but you could not use it even if you wanted to, as it needs a good tidy-up.
On the negative side, the apartment is in need of TLC and the level of cleaning leaves a lot to be desired. We stayed for 18 nights but there was not a change of bed linen. My wife washed the bed linen and when the pillow cases were removed, we were shocked at the state of the pillows which have yellow stains (we are assuming sweat-stains). The pillows are old and lumpy. Saskia offered to send her cleaners over but in all honesty, she would not have to if there were a change of sheets. She did not offer to replace the pillows
Saskia has a policy of the departing guest leaving something for the next; which is fine if the “cleaners” were to throw out anything that is out of date. There was an old, mouldy onion in the fridge when we arrived
We were not expecting "hotel standards" but most, if not all of the above are simple and easy to fix.
Saskia might not like our feedback but it is our honest opinion and I note that previous guests have also made similar comments but the problems have not been rectified.
Thanks for your feedback April. I did try to rectify the oversight of not leaving spare linen. Spare towels were left and I usually leave spare sheets also this was a mistake and I did try to fix it but you refused my offer.
I use professional cleaners and the place is clean and I also offered you the cleaners again which you also refused. It is an older style apartment with hardwood floors and is exactly as shown in the pictures.
A tree from the courtyard had to be removed as it was effecting water meters. This was why the courtyard was not looking great. I have since replanted a new hedge and ornamental plants and it is looking good again.
Finally only one of the pillows was stained, I have replaced the pillows based on your feedback also.
I am really sorry you were not happy with your experience but I have had many happy guests and have repeat visitors who love it.
I try really hard to make the experience the best I can for all my guests and it is really disappointing when people complain after they have been there two weeks and don't allow me to make things better for them.
Saskia was friendly on the phone and in emails and gave lots useful instructions both before we arrived and also within the unit (how to work things, where to put rubbish bags etc)
We loved the Windsor pad. It was clean, homey and welcoming. The kitchen is tiny but has everything you need, the shower has lots of hot water and the bed is sublimely comfy. We didn't get to use the courtyard as the weather was not in our favour, but it looked like a nice place to enjoy a sunny breakfast.
It is located on a fairly main road and there is some road noise in the mornings as people head off to work, but it didn't bother us at all. In fact, my daughter remarked that it sounded a bit like the sea in the distance. Everything is handy, with 2 convenience stores and a pharmacy. It is also within walking distance of squillions of restaurants and cafes, some of which Saskia recommends in her information booklet. The cbd is about 20 mins away on the tram. If you are bringing a car, please be aware that the car space will not fit a large car. I only just squeezed my Lancer into the spot and even then could only open the doors on one side. A more compact car would be fine, and there is a fair amount of street parking if you drive a tank.
We would certainly recommend this lovely place and would certainly stay there again. Thank you Saskia :-)
We stayed a week in Saskia´s place and had a good time.We request an early check in and there was no problem . Saskia was always very kind to answer our questions by email, actually we have a technical problem and Saskia went immediately to fix it, thank you for that Saskia.
The apartment is clean and spacious with everything you need to have a good stay, clean towels , kitchenware , WiFi, heating, washing machine and dryer, the best of all is the electric blanket . The location of the place is excellent just a few steps from trams or bus that wiil get you in 20 minutes to CBD or Caulfield. You can walk to Chapel Street where there are many restaurants . We definitily recomended Saskia´s place. It was a perfect first contact with Melbourne and also in Airbnb we like it!
We stayed here for a little over a week whilst we were finding an apartment to live in permanently. Saskia's place is great! It's clean, neat, gets really warm with the heater and the bed is super comfy. Saskia left us great instructions and tips and let us stay with our cat.
The location is also great; right near Chapel St and surrounded by some great places to eat. Although I had my car and didn't need to use public transport that often it was very close by and Saskia left two myki cards for us to use.
Overall the place is great and Saskia is lovely host. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here!
I spent almost two weeks in Saskia's lovely flat, and I really felt at home. When the internet wouldn't connect, she took the trouble to find out that in fact the server was down, and rang me back to let me know, and was generally really helpful.
It's really well located, close to three major tram lines, about 15-20 minutes from the CBD, near Chapel Street, which is a great place for shopping, and a very alm area - you don't worry about walking around at night on your own!
This rental is a decent unit. It had hardwood floors is spacious and had everything you need. We did have to do a deep clean when we got there as the unit was not super clean. There are animals that live there which was part of the reason for the need for the deep clean. Overall we enjoyed the unit it just wasn't as impressive as others we've stayed at.
About the Host, Saskia
I live in the country now on 7.5 acres with my 2 dogs. I used to live in the apartment but now I like to spend most of my time in the country and just have a city crash pad I can use every now and then. I rent it out most of the time. It's in such a great location I never want to let it go.
I have my own business and have travelled a lot and like to stay in apartments when I travel so I figured people might want to stay in mine. In the last year I have been to Vancouver - very like Melbourne so of course I love it. Seattle was surprised how much I liked it and had the best Vietnamese I have ever had including Vietnam. New York well what do you say other than NEW YORK, wish I could afford to go every year.
