About This Listing
Discover Los Angeles from the best kept secret in the heart of this city! Enjoy the thriving entertainment, food and culture. Our 1935 classic California Bungalow combines original architecture with modern renovations to create your perfect oasis.
Welcome to the best hidden oasis in the center of Los Angeles!
We nicknamed our house "The Spanish Greens" for the lush garden and vibrant colors reminiscent of 1935 Spanish Revival bungalows. The unique character is in the home's original dark redwood floors, Spanish style archways, french doors melting the indoor atmosphere with the outdoors and original wood windows that capture plenty of daylight and cool breezes.
We are offering our chic, calming bedroom and large shared bathroom with separate shower and deep soaking cast iron bathtub. Our bedroom has a comfortable 4-post Queen bed with a light, modern earth-tone feel. The large room is brightly decorated with abstract art and a wall devoted to personal travel photography. The bedroom opens onto the relaxing patio to sit out and enjoy the pleasant weather. There is also a hammock in the backyard.
You also have full access to the large modern chefs kitchen, wireless internet, and free laundry and dryer. Make yourself at home in the colorful living room, among travel photos & mementos and our movies & TV shows on DVD.
Or create an outdoor office by sitting on the patio to enjoy the warm LA weather. Or relax away the day in the hammock hidden among the fruit trees. If you come at the right time of year, you are welcome to pick the organic fruit or vegetables from the garden.
There is plenty of safe, free and convenient street parking directly in front of our house, if you have a car.
Interaction with Guests
This room is our master bedroom, however we stay in MJ's separate studio in the back, so we will be nearby if you need anything. We will be sharing the bathroom with you, so please be considerate and clean. Usually, we are in and out of the bathroom weekdays between 7:45 and 8:15am.
Occasionally, we will take clothes from the room when you are out, so we minimize bothering you during your stay. Rarely do we forget something from the room. We are quiet at night and appreciate relaxed, easy-going guests.
We are "work-from-home" entrepreneurs. A few times per week, Shannon leaves for work in the morning. On weekdays there is a strong work vibe, and although someone is usually home, we may be busy during work hours.
At night, there is a nice family feel as we like to share and chat with you.
Our lovely Spanish style house in historic Leimert Park is convenient to Jamaican Food, Soul Food, Southern BBQ, shopping, movie theaters, coffee shops and beautiful Southern California historic architecture of the 1920s and 1930s. It's a quaint neighborhood with great soulful energy.
Leimert Park is a predominately middle class African-American neighborhood and home to many known Hollywood artists and producers. The location is literally in the center of the city, between downtown, Hollywood and the beach.
It is an up-and-coming place to enjoy the exciting diversity and urban life of Los Angeles.
Although this city is built for cars, this neighborhood, Leimert Park, is great for those traveling without a car as it's convenient to major boulevards and public transportation.

Our house is a 15 minute walk to the Metro Expo Line, Crenshaw stop, which takes you directly to Downtown Los Angeles or USC to the East and Culver City to the West. USC is a short 5 min drive or a 10 min bike ride.

Shannon and MJ were awesome hosts. I felt welcome from the moment I arrived. It was nice that they were home when I got there. I ran into Shannon and MJ throughout my trip and all of the interactions were great. It was nice to get to know them. The room was lovely and the area was fine. I never did get to explore the cool area pictured in the profile so I just might need to return! I relied on public transportation which served me quite well from their house. I was attending a conference at USC. I took the bus, train and one day even walked the 3.5 miles. It was a great walk :) The train was probably my favorite. The walk to the train was a bit further than the bus, but the train involved less stops and a very comfortable ride. Shannon and MJ even had a bike I could rent (super cool bike all ready to return to Burning Man :) ) . I took an awesome ride to Venice Beach and stumbled upon a great farmer's market (Sunday) on Venice Blvd a few miles inland from the beach. I recommend finding it if you visit. Thanks again for making me feel welcome and have a home base while travelling. Oh, and the cats are pretty awesome :)
Shannon and MJ are very friendly and help me a lot! They offer simple and fresh breakfast and they have 3 super cute cats! The home has a good location, if u have a car, this is definitely a perfect place for u, but if u need to use bus or metro just like me, this place also a good choice! There are many routes can take u to Hollywood, Beverly hill, downtown, Santa Monica and other major attractions. The bedroom sooooo good, l had my best nights slept on that perfect bed!
Shannon and MJ are amazing hosts! They are so kind,we feel like at home! They give us great advises to discover the city (beaches,restaurants,...) The house is beautiful in a well situated neighborhood. The room is quite spacy for two people,so as the bathroom.
This room is like a dream inside of an otherwise bustling city, and it was likewise a dream renting from Shannon and MJ. They were so nice and accommodating, and the logistics all went really smoothly with keys, check-in, etc. The house was so clean too! It was actually difficult to leave the house to go do things, I was so comfortable. The breakfast items they provided really made my mornings! Will definitely stay with them again.
MJ and Shannon were excellent hosts. The room was perfect for me and their place is nicely upgraded. Apples and bananas and other snacks were available for me. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
Shannon and MJ are very welcoming, open and friendly, I had a great pleasure of meeting them! They were also very helpful to answer the questions I had and help me to plan my trip. The room is spacious, the neighbourhood is very nice and safe. I also appreciated access to kitchen as well as tasty cereal with almond milk for breakfast!
My advice is to rent a car, as the public transportation in LA is not as good, and although it can take you pretty much anywhere, it takes much more time than it would if to travel by car. Overall I enjoyed my stay, LA is a beautiful city with many many places to explore and things to do!
Thanks Shannon and MJ! :)
This is my first time booking accommodation at Airbnb. It's quite an unforgettable and significant experience, cause I really didn't imagine that I could meet two such nice "guys" as hosts. Shannon is a warmhearted and outgoing person, who wishes always to share her knowledge of LA with me. MJ, a beautiful white girl, makes me admire of Shannon, as living with a beauty is gonna be awesome, right? They have three cats, which are really cute and charming. Visiting LA has been the best thing that ever happened to me, it brought me to two new nice friends and you won't regret.

MJ (Shannon's Fiancee): I am a success coach for women in their 20's. I always know where to find a great live performance or novel nightlife event.
