If you are looking for a peaceful get away in the heart of Montrose then you have found it! Our house is situated in Mandell Place, you will be minutes from the hippest bars, cafes, food trucks and shopping in MONTROSE. We are biking distance to Memorial park and Highland Village.
The house it self is a private area on the back of the property, it has hard wood floors, front porch, hot tub, private full bathroom and kitchen. The bed room has a work station, queen sized bed. A queen blow up is available to use for up to four guest, but it's a bit of a tight squeeze.
If you walk a few blocks south on Mandell is University of St. Thomas and The Menil. You walk a few blocks North and you have Mark's Restaurant, Hugo's, Poscol, Brasil, Da Marco and Underbelly. Along with some great night life such as Anvil Bar and Hay Merchant.
Please write us with any questions and we look forward to having you stay with us!

I may be the outlier here, but based on my experience, I can't really recommend that others stay with Kendra at her funky Montrose house. My main issue is that the place just was not clean. There was dirt, hair, and debris all over the floor in every room, as well as covering the entire comforter, and the house generally smelled of cat litter. I wouldn't label it as filthy, but I can definitely say that no one had swept or vacuumed in awhile, maybe many weeks or months. There were other details, such as used wrappers in the chocolate bowl, and dishes that weren't really cleaned thoroughly, etc. And it didn't seem right to include TV as one of the amenities since it was not hooked up to anything.
I also found Kendra generally unresponsive until just before our check-in. I called (leaving a voicemail) and emailed her (twice) the day before, to go over details of how to pick up the key, confirm her address, etc. only to be ignored for 24 hours until my flight had taken off in the morning. She did email back once, but only to ask her own questions, and not answer mine. However, after we arrived, she would text back to answer our inquiries. We did not meet her in person at any point.
I'll attach my own qualifier and say that I'm new to airbnb, but somehow everything about this experience felt kind of off. Perhaps I expected too much, but I guess that's for others to decide.
Kendra is super friendly and hospitable. Her house is in a great location. Easy walk to The Hay Market - craft food and beer. Funky gentrifying neighborhood. Half new modern and half restored Craftsman style houses. She's currently remodeling her house. The back garage hasn't been remodeled yet. Workable and comfortable, but a little like the house I lived in college. Bed was very comfortable. Previous guests had left a variety of liquors - I added to the collection. No hesitation about staying with Kendra again and would recommend to others as long as you are comfortable not staying in the Ritz.
Kendra was amazing and her home was beautiful. She went out of her way to provide an extra inflatable mattress and sheets for last minuet guests. Her spare home provided great privacy in a perfect location in Houston only a short walk from all the places we wanted to be.
I could not have hoped for a better place to stay. Kendra was accommodating, and the care she put into the space was apparent - the small details like the chilled wine and the candy made the trip a delight. Also, the location was within walking distance of most of our desired destinations. I would highly recommend staying with Kendra!
Kendra is a caring host and her rental provides a generous amount of space. The location is in a charming neighborhood, within walking distance of restaurants and a great supermarket. It's also midway between the downtown theatre district and abundant shopping at The Galleria.
Really cool separate space and in a cool neighborhood. I really liked it.
This place is everything it claims to be. Our son got a job in Houston and all 3 of us went there in the beginning of August to help him settle. My husband and I had never been to Houston before and our son had been there, briefly, a couple of times only for the job interview. We stayed at Kendra's for a week and used the place as a "home base" to find an apartment, a new car, furniture, etc... Kendra is a very friendly and considerate person and she was a great source and extremely helpful with everything. The place is a one bedroom little house in the backyard of Kendra’s house and was comfortable enough for us, 3 adults. The location is superb if you want to be near downtown. Nice and safe area, near great museums, restaurants, supermarkets and all the stores we needed for setting up a new household from scratch were a short drive away. I would highly recommend it. Oh, and we, greatly, appreciated the WiFi and the Starbucks coffee maker with the free coffee pods supply.
I stayed at this location for 2 entire months during a summer internship and it was fantastic the entire time.
Host - Kendra is amazing. She is always available to help out. Brought me free coffee refills for the Starbucks verissimo machine, and clean sheets and towels. Also great reccomendations for things to do nearby.
Apartment - Perfect size, everything you could want, even if you are staying awhile. The house is clean and stays very cool with the air conditioners on. Bed is comfy and kitchen and living area were a huge bonus.
Location - Nothing beats a Montrose location in Houston. Literally blocks from bars, coffee shops, food, grocery store. Only a few more blocks over to the Menil. Easy parking on the street if you have a car.
In summary, a wonderful place to stay.
Although we arrived an hour early at Kendra's place, she welcomed us with open arms and a bright smile. She then took us to her garage apartment which looked exactly like what we saw on the pics. It is pretty big and although we were early, it was already cleaned and the fridge was stacked with water and beer :)) And we really enjoyed the Starbucks coffee machine in the mornings! Its simply tasty... During our stay, Kendra was also so nice to refill our coffee cups. But we didn't only like the food supplies in the apartment: the tv is big and hocked to a sound system, you get free wifi and the kitchen has all the stuff you need if you don't wanna eat out all the time. But the best thing about the apartment is definitely the location!!! It's located in a really nice neighborhood close to downtown and midtown. Westheimer is really close too, so that you can actually walk to some bars or even to a really nice HEB. All in all, we had a great week at Kendra's place and would come back any time!
Kendra's place was very nice and convenient to our needs. She greeted us when arrived and made us feel very welcome. We did not have any dinnerware and they gave us some paper plates for the evening and the next day we had a full set of dishes waiting for us. We arrived with a small trailer and she let us park it in her gated driveway. We felt very safe there. Also, Coffee was a Perk! and lots of it. It felt like home. Thank you Kendra so much for your TEXAS hospitality.
