About this listing
The room is very bright & spacious yet super cosy and might even have a bit of a bohemian feel to it...! I'm very happy to send some updated pics :) The other (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) (English, German & Spanish) are a very welcoming and friendly bunch of guys!
I am Laura, a 26 year old MA student who lives and loves London's South-East.
I am going home over Christmas and am therefore looking to fill my room whilst I am away.
The room is a large double room and fully furnished. There are more decorations and accessories around now than there are in the first 2 pictures...I like to think that it's got a bit of a bohemian or artistic vibe to it, but you'll have to judge for yourself :) I will try and remember to take some pictures tomorrow when its bright, but if I have forgotten to upload them please feel free to ask for some more pics! Despite the increase of things, I will of course make sure that you get enough space to put your things, i.e. I will make space for you in the drawers, wardrobe, bathroom, kitchen shelves etc! The room is very bright (the window is facing the afternoon sun....which creates a nice rainbow shower on the walls in the afternoon if you're lucky!) and comfortable, thanks to a huge amount of pillows on the bed and alternative lighting.
The house itself comes with a living room, bathroom, kitchen, a big patio area and a good sized back garden!
I thought it might be a nice idea to rent my room out to somebody who wants to explore the city and needs a welcoming place to come home to and stay. You'd be living with 3 other people: Svenja is a German girl who works as a waitress and loves being crafty in her spare time, Álvaro from Spain who is working as a waiter also and is working towards a career in Graphic Design and James from England who is working in Events. All three of them are really a lovely bunch of guys: very considerate, friendly and welcoming so that it's always nice to come home and have a nice catch up after a long day at work! They're also pretty clean and tidy. If you need any advice on what to do and where to go we are all more than happy to help!
What else...Peckham / Camberwell area is located in South East London, an area that becomes more and more popular, especially for art students of all (URL HIDDEN) is a very lively and vibrant area with people coming from all ethnic backgrounds...there is always something going on and it is never boring. There are many shops around the corner including local supermarkets, e.g. Superdrug, Primark, Boots etc..
Especially Peckham (which is closer to the house) is absolutely fantastic and has been mentioned in big name magazines numerous times...Easyjet Magazine suggested it as a place to visit...the Metro Newspaper published an article called "9 Reasons why Peckham is the best Place to live" ( look it up! ) and Vogue Magazine mentioned the Bussey Building (mine and everybody's favourite club, a former warehouse only 5 minute walk from the house) as the new best place to go out! What's not to love? There are lots of other places to see and things to explore such as the South London Gallery and Horneyman Museum e.g. which are nearby and always worth a visit! Also, the Bussey Building's other events, such as theatre plays, cinema nights and exhibitions are well worth mentioning! Kick back and relax in beautiful Bellenden Road around the corner with its many cafe's, quirky shops, cosy pubs and friendly faces or visit one of the many parks in the area. Also, the Peckham Pelican, a cafe/bar with a very laid-back atmosphere and cheap drinks (and amazing pizza!) should be on top of the list. Only down the road and perfect to get that much dreaded Uni work done or relax after a log walk around town..nobody will kick you out of here for sipping on the same coffee for 3 hours :)
However, if you're looking for a bit more action, the train (Peckham Rye Station is a 10 minute walk away) takes you to central London in 15 minutes...the Overground (same station) takes you East within 20 minutes and the many buses (stop 1 min away) only take about 25-45 (depending on where you're going, obviously ;)
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask! :)
Looking forward to hearing from you!
You will have access to every part of the house and garden, apart from the other flatmate's bedrooms of course!
Interaction with Guests
I will be online pretty much every day so can respond very quickly :)
Peckham/Camberwell is located in South East London, an area that becomes more and more popular, especially for art students of all sorts! You are very lucky as there are lots of places to see and things to explore such as the South London Gallery and Horneyman Museum which are nearby and always worth a visit! Also, the Bussey Building, a former warehouse, has earned itself a great reputation for its famous warehouse parties (open till the early morning hours), events and exhibitions! Peckham is the up-and-coming place and has been featured not only in Timeout Magazine but Vogue too (they promoted Bussey Building). I cannot even keep up with all the new bars, cafe's and gallery's opening, and I live here! :) In this area there are a lot of parks to relax in such as Lucas Gardens (relatively small but just around the corner and very pretty) or Burgess Park which is very big (great for walks) and where you can make BBQ's! Peckham/Camberwell is a super lively and vibrant area with people coming from all ethnic backgrounds...there is always something going on and it is never boring. There are many shops around the corner including local supermarkets, Primark, Boots etc..as well as original little shops on Bellenden Road which sell organic fruit, veg and cheeses, vintage clothes and furniture, soaps, toys and home decor!
If you'd like to visit the city centre, the train (Peckham Rye Station is a 7 minute walk away) takes you to central London (e.g. London Bridge) in 15 minutes...the Overground (same station) takes you East London (e.g. Bricklane, Liverpool Street or Shoreditch) within 20 minutes and the many buses (the stop is 2 min away) only take about 25-45 (depending on where you're going, obviously ;)
Other Things to Note
I am at this point not entirely sure which ones of my (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) will be home over Christmas, so I would potentially recommend this room for couples, at this poiunt
