About This Listing
The room is very bright and spacious yet super cosy and might even have a bit of a bohemian feel to it...you'll be the judge of that! :) The other (website hidden) are a very welcoming and friendly bunch of guys...plus we have two very cuddly cats!
I am Laura, a 25 year old MA student who lives and loves London's South-East.
I am going home for a week and am therefore looking to fill my room whilst I am away.
The room is a large double room and fully furnished. There are more decorations and accessories around now than there are in the first 2 pictures...I like to think that it's got a bit of a bohemian or artistic vive to it, but you'll have to see for yourself :) However, I will of course put many of my things away, creating a big amount of space for you in the drawers, wardrobe, bathroom, kitchen shelves etc etc! The room is very bright (the window is facing the afternoon sun....which creates a nice rainbow shower on the walls in the afternoon!) and comfortable, thanks to a huge amount of pillows on the bed and alternative lighting.
The house itself comes with a living room, bathroom, kitchen, a big patio area (with BBQ!) and a good sized back garden!
I thought it might be a nice idea to rent my room out to somebody who wants to explore the city and needs a welcoming place to come home to and stay. You'd be living with 3 other guys: Chris from Munich, who studies Media & Communications, Donald from China who works in Graphic Design and Felix from Spain who is working as a waiter. All three of them are really a lovely bunch of guys: very considerate, friendly and welcoming so that it's always nice to come home and have a nice catch up after a long day at work! They're also very clean and tidy ;)
If you need any advice on what to do and where to go we are all more than happy to help! 2 very lovely cats (Cassius and Cohen) are also living with us so I hope you're not allergic! :)
What else...Peckham / Camberwell area is located in South East London, an area that becomes more and more popular, especially for art students of all sorts! ..it is a very lively and vibrant area with people coming from all ethnic backgrounds...there is always something going on and it is never boring. There are many shops around the corner including local supermarkets, e.g. Superdrug, Primark, Boots etc..
Especially Peckham (which is closer to the house) is absolutely fantastic and has been mentioned in big name magazines numerous times...Easyjet Magazine suggested it as a place to visit...the Metro Newspaper published an article called "9 Reasons why Peckham is the best Place to live" ( look it up! ) and Vogue Magazine mentioned the Bussey Building (mine and everybody's favourite club, a former warehouse only 5 minute walk from the house) as the new best place to go out! What's not to love? There are lots of other places to see and things to explore such as the South London Gallery and Horneyman Museum e.g. which are nearby and always worth a visit! Also, the Bussey Building's other events, such as theatre plays, cinema nights and exhibitions are well worth mentioning! Kick back and relax in beautiful Bellenden Road around the corner with its many cafe's, quirky shops, cosy pubs and friendly faces or visit one of the many parks in the area. Also, the Peckham Pelican, a new cafe/bar with a very laid-back atmosphere and cheap drinks (and amazing pizza!) should be on top of the list. Only down the road and perfect to get that much dreaded Uni work done or relax after a log walk around town..nobody will kick you out of here for sipping on the same coffee for 3 hours :)
However, if you're looking for a bit more action, the train (Peckham Rye Station is a 7 minute walk away) takes you to central London in 15 minutes...the Overground (same station) takes you East within 20 minutes and the many buses (stop 1 min away) only take about 25-45 (depending on where you're going, obviously ;)
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask! :)
Looking forward to hearing from you!
You will have access to every part of the house and garden, apart from the other flatmate's bedrooms of course!
Peckham/Camberwell is located in South East London, an area that becomes more and more popular, especially for art students of all sorts! You are very lucky as there are lots of places to see and things to explore such as the South London Gallery and Horneyman Museum which are nearby and always worth a visit! Also, the Bussey Building, a former warehouse, has earned itself a great reputation for its famous warehouse parties (open till the early morning hours), events and exhibitions! Peckham is the up-and-coming place and has been featured not only in Timeout Magazine but Vogue too (they promoted Bussey Building). I cannot even keep up with all the new bars, cafe's and gallery's opening, and I live here! :) In this area there are a lot of parks to relax in such as Lucas Gardens (relatively small but just around the corner and very pretty) or Burgess Park which is very big (great for walks) and where you can make BBQ's! Peckham/Camberwell is a super lively and vibrant area with people coming from all ethnic backgrounds...there is always something going on and it is never boring. There are many shops around the corner including local supermarkets, Primark, Boots etc..as well as original little shops on Bellenden Road which sell organic fruit, veg and cheeses, vintage clothes and furniture, soaps, toys and home decor!
If you'd like to visit the city centre, the train (Peckham Rye Station is a 7 minute walk away) takes you to central London (e.g. London Bridge) in 15 minutes...the Overground (same station) takes you East London (e.g. Bricklane, Liverpool Street or Shoreditch) within 20 minutes and the many buses (the stop is 2 min away) only take about 25-45 (depending on where you're going, obviously ;)
Laura was very gracious and welcoming though we did not meet her in person. Her room is quite comfortable. Her flatmates were lovely and very helpful, though we were left without toilet paper for several days and the kitchen was quite messy. Peckham is a bit far from many of London's attractions, making it a longish trip if you are having a late night out, but the price is very good and all in all we managed well.
Laura, thank you for a really nice stay.
Laura and her housemates were very friendly and welcoming, and nothing is too much trouble for them.
The room itself is nice and cosy but still spacious. The bathroom (with a nice walk-in shower) and kitchen are compact but have everything that is needed. The house is in a great location for SE London and very handy for buses (which are easy and frequent) to the centre of London.
I have no hesitation in recommending a stay.
Laura es una persona encantadora, muy servicial y atenta pero solo pude hablar con ella el primer dia. La habitacion es comoda. He dormido bien!
Solo hubiese sido fantastico el haber tenido una television para oir mas ingles. He tenido wifi, Laura incluso me dejo el adaptador para enchufar el cargador. Como fui a estudiar ingles hubiese sido genial tener una mesa en la habitacion.
Laura's room was by far our favourite part of staying in London. It was warm, cosy and clean and Laura did not hesitate to share her food, books and tea with us. Her flatmates were very helpful and polite and the house cats were friendly. The cooking facilities were very useful, the bathroom was clean and tidy and the bus stop was just around the corner (bus takes 30 minutes to get right into town). All in all a great experience!
Laura was very helpful while I was planning my trip and although she couldn't be there when I arrived, she left a key and instructions that were helpful in her place :) She has very kind roommates and the MOST comfortable bed. The room is quite large and public transportation is easily accessible. Thanks for your hospitality, Laura!

About the Host, Laura
Heyia! My name is Laura and I am a German Photography student currently studying and living in London! I moved here more than 3 years ago and am now in my last year of studies! I am a very open-minded person, bubbly, friendly and sometimes even funny! I went to Australia for 1 1/2 years after high school and ever since then I constantly have itchy feet and feel the urge to travel. For now, London is my home of choice but who knows where I'll be going next? I have met so many kind people along the way and believe that a positive attitude towards friends AND strangers is crucial if you ever want to live a fullfilled life, which is probably why I like inviting "strangers" into my/our home because that stranger might as well be the most fantastic person you will ever meet! :) As you might know by now I LOVE meeting new people, going out, reading, music, FOOD, traveling, visiting the theatre or exhibitions as well as chilled nights in! If I happen to be around when you visit our house and you don't know yet what to do and where to go around London I and my lovely flatmates are more than happy to help! :)
