The Space

Gorgeous Double Room to let in up-and-coming Peckham / Camberwell Area over the summer!

Dates and Price negotiable! Couples Welcome!

I am Laura, a 24 year old photographer who lives and loves London's South-East.
I am planning to go traveling at the end of the summer and am therefore looking to fill my room whilst I am away.
The room is a large double room and fully furnished. However, I will of course put many of my things away, creating a big amount of space for you in the drawers, wardrobe, bathroom, kitchen shelves etc etc! The room is very bright (the window is facing the afternoon sun) and comfortable, thanks to a huge amount of pillows on the bed and alternative lighting.

Also, what I can offer is my beautiful red bike for you to use. It's a little heavy but it's got gears and is a great bike to ride into the city to. It comes with a heavy duty lock and also with a helmet. Feel free to use it :) The only thing I would expect is that if for any reason it should break that you may take it into repair so I can use it when I get back. It's got new tyres and also a pretty new gear system so I don't see any reason why anything should happen to it but of course you never know. If you prefer public transport though that's also fine by me :)

The house itself comes with bathroom, kitchen, a big patio area (with BBQ!) and a good sized back garden! Just to let you know, the garden now looks much nicer actually, but taking and uploading new pictures is one of those things I keep on forgetting, so just remind me and I can send more images of the garden and house! I thought it might be a nice idea to rent my room out to somebody who wants to explore the city and needs a welcoming place to come home to and stay. You'd be living with 3 other guys: Jack, who works in a creative agency, Donald who works in Graphic Design and Felix who is working as a waiter. All three boys are very clean and tidy! And for all the general cleaning there will be a weekly cleaning rota. All three of them are really a lovely bunch of guys: very considerate and friendly so that it's always nice to come home and have a nice catch up after a long day at work! :)
If you need any advice on what to do and where to go we are all more than happy to help! 2 very lovely cats (Cassius and Cohen) are also included in this fantastic package so I hope you're not allergic! :)

What else...Peckham / Camberwell area is located in South East London, an area that becomes more and more popular, especially for art students of all sorts! ..it is a very lively and vibrant area with people coming from all ethnic backgrounds...there is always something going on and it is never boring. There are many shops around the corner including local supermarkets, e.g. Superdrug, Primark, Boots etc..
Especially Peckham (which is closer to the house) is absolutely fantastic and has been mentioned in big name magazines numerous times...Easyjet Magazine suggested it as a place to visit...the Metro Newspaper published an article called "9 Reasons why Peckham is the best Place to live" ( look it up! ) and Vogue Magazine mentioned the Bussey Building (mine and everybody's favourite club, a former warehouse only 5 minute walk from the house) as the new best place to go out! What's not to love? There are lots of other places to see and things to explore such as the South London Gallery and Horneyman Museum e.g. which are nearby and always worth a visit! Also, the Bussey Building's other events, such as theatre plays, cinema nights and exhibitions are well worth mentioning! Kick back and relax in beautiful Bellenden Road around the corner with its many cafe's, quirky shops, cosy pubs and friendly faces or visit one of the many parks in the area. Also, the Peckham Pelican, a new cafe/bar with a very laid-back atmosphere and cheap drinks (and amazing pizza!) should be on top of the list. Only down the road and perfect to get that much dreaded Uni work done or relax after a log walk around town..nobody will kick you out of here for sipping on the same coffee for 3 hours :)

However, if you're looking for a bit more action, the train (Peckham Rye Station is a 7 minute walk away) takes you to central London in 15 minutes...the Overground (same station) takes you East within 20 minutes and the many buses (stop 1 min away) only take about 25-45 (depending on where you're going, obviously ;)

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask! :)

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Laura

You will have access to every part of the house and garden, apart from the other flatmate's bedrooms of course!

Peckham/Camberwell is located in South East London, an area that becomes more and more popular, especially for art students of all sorts! You are very lucky as there are lots of places to see and things to explore such as the South London Gallery and Horneyman Museum which are nearby and always worth a visit! Also, the Bussey Building, a former warehouse, has earned itself a great reputation for its famous warehouse parties (open till the early morning hours), events and exhibitions! Peckham is the up-and-coming place and has been featured not only in Timeout Magazine but Vogue too (they promoted Bussey Building). I cannot even keep up with all the new bars, cafe's and gallery's opening, and I live here! :) In this area there are a lot of parks to relax in such as Lucas Gardens (relatively small but just around the corner and very pretty) or Burgess Park which is very big (great for walks) and where you can make BBQ's! Peckham/Camberwell is a super lively and vibrant area with people coming from all ethnic backgrounds...there is always something going on and it is never boring. There are many shops around the corner including local supermarkets, Primark, Boots etc..as well as original little shops on Bellenden Road which sell organic fruit, veg and cheeses, vintage clothes and furniture, soaps, toys and home decor!

  • Laura's room was by far our favourite part of staying in London. It was warm, cosy and clean and Laura did not hesitate to share her food, books and tea with us. Her flatmates were very helpful and polite and the house cats were friendly. The cooking facilities were very useful, the bathroom was clean and tidy and the bus stop was just around the corner (bus takes 30 minutes to get right into town). All in all a great experience!

  • Laura was very helpful while I was planning my trip and although she couldn't be there when I arrived, she left a key and instructions that were helpful in her place :) She has very kind roommates and the MOST comfortable bed. The room is quite large and public transportation is easily accessible. Thanks for your hospitality, Laura!

  • Laura gave us a detailed description how to come to her flat in advance. So it was no problem in finding the accommodation. As you are staying in Laura’s room, Laura was not here. Although she was not here, her flatmate showed us everything and you could as him everything. In advance I was writing with Laura and she was very friendly and answered me each question quickly.
In the room it was a little bit cold. After asking her flatmate he put the maximum temperature of the heater higher. To go to City Centre it takes about 45 minutes by public transport.
We really enjoyed our trip to London. Thanks again!

  • Was a bit difficult to find but she was helpful in giving us directions. Only saw her 1st day when we got the key. Room is private. You do share the bathroom with the other 3 roommates but we only saw 1 of the roommates the whole time. He was very helpful & gave us easier directions to places. Nice room for a quick stay, a little chilly at times. Its about 45 minutes out of the city of London via public transportation.

  • We spent four days in London! It was nice to have a lovely place to sleep during our stay. Unfortunately, we didn't see Laura much because we arrived late from the airport but everything was ready when we arrived home. The room was comfy and the cats adorable! Thanks again!

  • My sister and I stayed four days at Laura´s house and we really enjoy it. Laura welcomed us and explained us everything about the house and she also gave us some pieces of helpfull advice of how to move in that enourmous city. She is a very nice person and she offers you all. The room is very confortable and you can make use of every room in the house; kitchen, living, patio. Although there are other housemates we never had any problem to use the bathroom.
The neighbourhood is very quiet and near Laura´s house there are many shops where you can find everything from food to clothes.
The bus stop to go to the city centre is very close as well as the train station.
    I really recommend it!!

  • Me and my boyfriend stayed there for a couple of nights and it really was a great experience! The roommates were really friendly and helpful. There weren't any issues with space, because the roommates are mostly out, so you can use the bathroom and kitchen. The connection with the city centre was great, the bus stop is really close the appartement. Laura was very nice and helpful. We recommend!

About
Heyia! My name is Laura and I am a German Photography student currently studying and living in London! I moved here more than 3 years ago and am now in my last year of studies! I am a very open-minded person, bubbly, friendly and sometimes even funny! I went to Australia for 1 1/2 years after high school and ever since then I constantly have itchy feet and feel the urge to travel. For now, London is my home of choice but who knows where I'll be going next? I have met so many kind people along the way and believe that a positive attitude towards friends AND strangers is crucial if you ever want to live a fullfilled life, which is probably why I like inviting "strangers" into my/our home because that stranger might as well be the most fantastic person you will ever meet! :) As you might know by now I LOVE meeting new people, going out, reading, music, FOOD, traveling, visiting the theatre or exhibitions as well as chilled nights in! If I happen to be around when you visit our house and you don't know yet what to do and where to go around London I and my lovely flatmates are more than happy to help! :)
