About this listing
This cosy apartment in the middle of the old historical centre of Antwerp is situated on the entire second floor of the big old renovated house that we live in. The entrance on the ground floor is shared but the apartment is totally private: it has an open kitchen with a Nespresso machine (herbs, onions and kitchen equipment is all there) , a separate bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom (and if necessary an additional double sofa bed in the living room!). The apartment is childproof, you can make use of a baby bed, there's a baby chair and the steps are protected with a little fence. Even though we are in the middle of the bustling city, yet we live in a very quiet street! If you are traveling by car, you can make use of a public parking 18€/day around the corner It's a wonderful and artistic neighbourhood, a few steps from the cathedral, the city hall and near the famous new museum 'MAS', shops and the river 'De Schelde'. you can wander in small or big pedestrianized shopping streets around the corner or you can rent some city bikes at the other corner of the street ((website hidden)).
We're both artists ( a photographer and an illustrator/journalist) We have two kids (2 and 5) a very nice an friendly dog,and two fat cats, (they always stay downstairs). It's the ideal place to enjoy the city and make part of it in a very relaxing way. We hope to reach responsible and enthusiastic people! We're not pushy people, and will respect your privacy, but we are also ready to give you some advice and tips to enjoy your staying in Antwerp (as a photographer Thomas knows all the nicest little corners and 'places to be' in Antwerp). We love living here! And we hope you'll love it as much as we do.

We hope to contact responsable people, who're interested in visiting the town, not for clubbing and partying... (we don't mind if it is just for an evening but we don't want any drunk people coming in in the middle of the night, we have two little children). We'd like you to close al the lights and check the stove when you go out or when you go to sleep. And We would also appreciate it if you turn of the television, music installation and coffee machine with the on/off button at night in stead of leaving it in stand by modus. And please pull out the plug of the kettle. I'm terrified of fire :-). There's a lot of beauty products in the bathroom, you can use the ones witch are already opened but please don't take them at home. We have curious cats, so when you don't want them to come and visit you, we advise you to close the doors. Also it's better to keep the door of the bedroom closed, to ensure they don't sleep on your bed or don't lock them up when you're out. Have a nice stay.
A recommander chaudement !
Pour ce qui est d'Anvers, ville ou les possibilités de sorties, visites ... sont aussi éclectiques que nombreuses, même si les musées sont plus chères que les autres villes visitées ...
My stay with Thomas and Laura was amazing. The apartment is spacious and at the same time cozy. It's just as beautiful as the pictures and really makes you feel like you have a home base while traveling. Thomas and Laura are incredibly kind and helpful. I was in Antwerp for a conference and they not only helped me to know where to go, but gave me lots of incredibly helpful advice on where to go for dinner and places to see. The apartment is perfectly located for whatever you want to do in Antwerp. I was able to walk to whatever event or location I wanted to go to. It's very close to Grote Markt and the Cathedral, so the area is absolutely gorgeous. It's also very safe and quiet at night.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful my stay was. I not only strongly recommend staying here, but I hope to stay here again on a return visit to Antwerp.
Laura and Thomas were on holiday when we stayed at their place, and so we think we missed out on the positive experiences that others have obviously had there.
We had a few minor problems in the apartment that we're sure they would've solved if they'd been around - it was a little bit grubby (the rooms were quite dusty, and the fridge hadn't been cleared out since the last visitors), it was missing some essentials like hand soap and toilet roll, and the wifi was so weak it was unusable.
It's also worth mentioning that the apartment is up some VERY steep stairs. We realise this is normal in Belgium, but it's not suitable for anybody uneasy on their feet (my pregnant wife really struggled).
The positives? It was nice and big, in a fab location and we loved the fat cat who stayed behind downstairs. But without Laura and Thomas there, we sadly can't recommend it.
We had two very nice days in Antwerp in Laura and Thomas' flat. It's very easy to get there from the central station, and it is located in a charming neighbourhood. The flat has everything you wish for. Thanks a lot!
Thomas & Laura are wonderful hosts:
Warm & friendly.
The map and data provided is of great help.
Thanks for the welcome wine bottle. The chat about the area and things to see and do was useful.
We have found new friends in our hosts.
We would definitely stay here again if we visit Antwerp.
Thanks to Air bnb.
About the Host, Laura
I'm Laura, a illustrator and a journalist for a woman magazine and my husband is Thomas, a photographer for several magazines. We have two kids, a girl Noa (5) and a boy, Amos (2). We love to live in the city, its nearby everything but our street is very quiet! For example in the morning we can choose between 5 bakery's, love it! And Thomas knows all the nice little squares and places as a photographer, and he loves giving good advise. We think a day should have a hundered hours becouse it's always too short and we work to much. We love to spend time with family and friends, but we also like to be at home for some quality time. Life is too short. We have a big house and a big mortage too:-) and we don't need all the space, so we want to try airbnb, than we can spend the extra money to travel.
