About This Listing
This cosy apartment in the middle of the old historical centre of Antwerp is situated on the entire second floor of the big old renovated house that we live in. The entrance on the ground floor is shared but the apartment is totally private: it has an open kitchen with a Nespresso machine (herbs, onions and kitchen equipment is all there) , a separate bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom (and if necessary an additional double sofa bed in the living room!). The apartment is childproof, you can make use of a baby bed, there's a baby chair and the steps are protected with a little fence. Even though we are in the middle of the bustling city, yet we live in a very quiet street! If you are traveling by car, you can make use of a public parking 18€/day around the corner It's a wonderful and artistic neighbourhood, a few steps from the cathedral, the city hall and near the famous new museum 'MAS', shops and the river 'De Schelde'. you can wander in small or big pedestrianized shopping streets around the corner or you can rent some city bikes at the other corner of the street ((website hidden)).
We're both artists ( a photographer and an illustrator/journalist) We have two kids (2 and 5) a very nice an friendly dog,and two fat cats, (they always stay downstairs). It's the ideal place to enjoy the city and make part of it in a very relaxing way. We hope to reach responsible and enthusiastic people! We're not pushy people, and will respect your privacy, but we are also ready to give you some advice and tips to enjoy your staying in Antwerp (as a photographer Thomas knows all the nicest little corners and 'places to be' in Antwerp). We love living here! And we hope you'll love it as much as we do.

We hope to contact responsable people, who're interested in visiting the town, not for clubbing and partying... (we don't mind if it is just for an evening but we don't want any drunk people coming in in the middle of the night, we have two little children). We'd like you to close al the lights and check the stove when you go out or when you go to sleep. And We would also appreciate it if you turn of the television, music installation and coffee machine with the on/off button at night in stead of leaving it in stand by modus. And please pull out the plug of the kettle. I'm terrified of fire :-). There's a lot of beauty products in the bathroom, you can use the ones witch are already opened but please don't take them at home. We have curious cats, so when you don't want them to come and visit you, we advise you to close the doors. Also it's better to keep the door of the bedroom closed, to ensure they don't sleep on your bed or don't lock them up when you're out. Have a nice stay.
Laura and Thomas are super friendly and gave us some great tips on where to shop ( found The Dress!) and where to eat. Yes, it was a bit odd to be wandering through someone's living room, but they're clearly easygoing people, so it was fine.
The appartment is nothing fancy, but spacious, clean, charming and very central. We had a great time.
Laura and Thomas have a great house right in the heart of Antwerp, with everything that you could want: a well-equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a tub and a very comfortable bedroom. The Antwerp bike-share station on the next street means that you can conveniently get around without riding the trams and buses, and it was a great way to zip around town. Laura and Thomas are also charming and helpful hosts, and their dog is adorable! It was a privilege to live at their apartment.
We had a great stay at this lovely and spacious apartment. Thomas and Laura were super flexible and friendly. We arrived four hours later than planned (due to traffic), but this was not a problem at all for our hosts. Thomas welcomed us and showed us around and we felt comfortable right away. The actual highlight of the apartment is its location! It is right in the middle of the historic centre, close to all the pretty sights but still very quiet. We guess that this is hard to find in a city like Antwerp.
Last but not least, we'd like to underline, that this is the perfect place if you are looking for some interaction with locals: Since you have to pass through the hosts' living room to reach your apartment, there is always the chance for a short chat with Thomas, Laura and their kids, as well as some cuddling time with dog Lou and the cat Matthis:) We really appreciated that. Thank you!
As we arrived, Thomas and Laura were quick to make us feel incredibly welcome in their home. The apartment is as described, a lot larger than we expected, with everything we needed for our stay. The location could not be better, we were able to see all of Antwerp and travelled further afield as the train station was just a short walk away. Knowing that Belgium is incredibly safe anyway, we found that the neighbourhood was great. We would highly recommend this apartment, not just because of how perfect the place was and the great location, but because the host family were lovely and catered for all of our needs.
Laura & Thomas (and also their awesome dog and their nice children) were great hosts! They got great insider tips for us. The apartment is really great situated in the center of Antwerp, yet it is in a small street that does not get loud at night. You will find everything in the apartment that you need ( he was welcoming us with wine and Cava).
I can really recommend the apartment and the hosts!!
About the Host, Laura
I'm Laura, a illustrator and a journalist for a woman magazine and my husband is Thomas, a photographer for several magazines. We have two kids, a girl Noa (5) and a boy, Amos (2). We love to live in the city, its nearby everything but our street is very quiet! For example in the morning we can choose between 5 bakery's, love it! And Thomas knows all the nice little squares and places as a photographer, and he loves giving good advise. We think a day should have a hundered hours becouse it's always too short and we work to much. We love to spend time with family and friends, but we also like to be at home for some quality time. Life is too short. We have a big house and a big mortage too:-) and we don't need all the space, so we want to try airbnb, than we can spend the extra money to travel.
