My home is located in the coveted 78704 area of South Austin, along the South Congress (SoCo) shopping and entertainment strip. You can easily walk to the 24 hour grocery store, four different banks/atms, a pharmacy, restaurants, shops, bars, coffee shops, bus stops, a nature preserve, a public pool, parks and more. Borrow a couple of my bikes and you'll be downtown in five minutes or most anywhere you want to be in Austin in less than twenty. The heart of SoCo is 1 mile away, Auditorium Shores is 2 miles away, Zilker Park/Barton Springs is 3 miles away and the airport is only a 15 minute drive. This is the side of the duplex I live in and it includes wifi, central air, full kitchen, queen bed, queen aerobed, off-street parking, screen patio, front balcony, vaulted ceilings, solar panels, rainwater collection, big backyard and a quiet neighborhood where you won't have to fight for a parking spot. the bedroom has a nice new queen mattress and there is a couch to crash on plus a queen aerobed to inflate in the living room.
You are welcome to use all the normal stuff and can have access to a couple bikes if you ask nicely.
I prefer to meet all my guests to welcome them to town and show them the house.
Convenience! Walk to everything you'll need while you're here and bike/bus to the rest of what people do in Austin. I'm a 2 mile straight shot down to the Congress bridge (where the bats are) and that's pretty much the center of all activity.
The 1, 101 and rapid transit bus stops are all just a block away or you can easily bike around. A taxi ride to/from downtown or east is under $10. Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park are 3 miles away, Auditorium Shores is 2 miles. You won't have trouble getting around without a car. Lots of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, thrift stores, etc. There's a nature preserve just down the street to hike around in and walking the St Edwards campus is always nice.
The mandatory 15% city hotel tax is included in the price for all reservations under 30 days. If you're looking to stay longer than a month then we can talk about other issues or concerns for making your stay here comfortable and easy.

driveway, 2 bikes, front balcony, back patio, backyard, front porch, all the normal inside stuff
You can smoke outside.
There is no cleaning fee because I expect you'll clean up before you leave. It's cheaper for both of us like that. I have a couple bikes you can borrow but if you break or lose something I'd appreciate if you compensate me for it.
Clean house with a chill vibe in a great location. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Garret couldn't have been a more helpful host. The porch was a great place to relax before/after going out ... and being able to borrow bikes was a terrific bonus.
Garret was great at recommending wonderful places to walk to and was very knowledgeable about his neighborhood. The place was exactly as described and had tons of lovely character. The neighborhood was quiet and safe. As other people mentioned, the memory foam bed was SO comfortable! I would definitely stay here again and I would recommend others to stay here as well. Thank you for your hospitality Garret!
Garret was an excellent host. He was easy to communicate with and made our arrival, stay, and departure very easy. The house was great. Very comfortable, clean, and tastefully decorated. He even left us a bottle of wine in the fridge. The balcony and the beautiful back yard were both great places to relax with the morning coffee and nurse the previous night's hangover, as well. :-)
The neighborhood was convenient. The house is just off Congress and there were a few great places to eat within a few blocks (really loved the Magnolia Cafe for brunch), and it was an easy bus or Uber ride to anywhere we wanted to go. We had a really good time here and I would definitely stay again!
Garret was a fantastic host! My friend, his wife and I needed a place to stay for two nights leading up to a wedding here in Austin, but our plans were up in the air until the last minute. No matter — Garret hooked us up. He had some fantastic suggestions for places to go and things to eat, which were a boon even though we'd been here before. The neighborhood is nice and quiet, and it's an easy walk to the hot spots in South Congress (though not so close that you'll want to be walking back and forth too much in a day). The apartment is laid-back and very thoughtfully appointed, which we really appreciated, and he stocked us a few beers! It would've been helpful to have a car, but we ended up being fine without one.
Great spot in SoCo with little gems throughout the place. Recommendations were excellent. Fit three comfortably.
Garret's place was very comfortable, clean and in a great location. Easy access to everything we wanted to do in Austin. Thank you Garret!
Garret's place was perfectly located in S. central Austin, with easy access to Car2Go and bus routes, which was important to us. We loved the layout of the place, with easy access to outdoor areas in many directions! And the VW speedometer reminded me that I definitely need to find a creative use for the old speedometer from my Ghia. :)
We didn't get to meet Garret in person, but he made sure we had everything we needed. He even worked with us when we spaced and left behind our huckleberry elk sausage in his freezer. Lol! That was a gift for a friend that we certainly weren't going to get replaced in Austin! Thanks again, Garret.

I'm a pretty laid back guy who likes to spend time outdoors so if you'd like to stay at my place then i'll just go camping - it works out for everyone! :)
