We had a fantastic short stay with Sharon and Chris. Their house is lovely and cosy and they were really accomodating and welcoming, having lots of little chats with us over coffee and breakfast. They were happy to advise us on where to go in the day and eat at night to make the most of our trip. Would definitely recommend their house if visting Cheddar or other areas in Somerset. Thanks again!
For my job I stay in different types of hotels quite often, from very basic to over the top luxurious. But never have I stayed in a more hospitable place than Fernwood a Cottage.
Sharon and Chis are two very warm and genuinely interested people. They will make you feel right at home and enrich your stay by giving you advice what to see according to your own interests. Their house is a real English home and the hens and 3 cats make it complete. This is a place you'll return to because you'll have fond memories
We would like to thank the very kind hosts (and their cuddly cats) for the wonderful stay we had in Fernwood. The beds are very comfortable, the breakfast was tasty and the location was ideal for exploring Cheddar, the Gorge and Axbridge by foot.
Staying in Sharon's home was one of the best , most relaxing holidays that I have had. She and Chris are excellent hosts, easy going, friendly and very helpful. There house is like a movie set from a typical bbc drama.-- the AGA, the cats, the chickens, the wild flowers and the wonder smell of jasmine. It was great to sit in their garden and chill. Cheddar is a wonder town, great walks , pubs and restaurents. I would highly recommend a visit to enjoy a traditional English experience-- go for the afternoon tea of scones, jam and clotted cream.
-- walk in the Cheddar Gorge or sit in a pub, enjoying a glass of local cider.
We are an easy going family house with three bedrooms to let (two doubles and a small single) available for Bed and (light) Breakfast. We do not let rooms for periods less than one week with a minimum charge of £40.00 per night for a single room and £60.00 per night for a double room. The minimum stay is 3 nights.
There is plenty of room at the rear of the house to park cars off the main street.
We are situated in Cheddar within twenty minutes walk from the gorge, and within easy reach by car or bus (there is a bus stop right outside our gate) to Wells, Bath, Bristol and Weston super Mare. There are many restaurants and pubs within a ten minute walk including the only Lao Thai Restaurant in the UK...
We are both retired and enjoy travelling, gardening, walking, dance and all sorts of music (with two musicians in the family)
