  • This place was exceptional! My parents and sister were in town for my graduation and wanted to stay somewhere close to my apartment (in the mission), and Mickey's place was so conveniently located, right on Dolores park with beautiful views from the apartment. Mickey was a wonderful host, responding to my inquiry immediately and he gave a lot of useful information on the house and area. The interior of the house was stunning and there was more than enough room for 4 people. This location in the mission is amazing as well, right next to all the best restaurants and overlooking the park. I highly recommend this place!

  • What a place - just amazing. It's beautiful without being pretentious or prissy, wonderfully designed and appointed. Feels like home as soon as you walk in the door, except in this home somebody has done all the housework for you, and you seem to have developed exquisite taste somehow. Plus, you live in San Francisco now. And your bed is so enormous, you'll find yourself wondering where your spouse is when they're actually just on the other side of the mattress. But other than that, just like home. Also your TV is now bigger than the sun.

Of course, the place could be a complete hovel, and it would still be amazing, because of the incredible location. If you've got kids, you may have leave them behind, because they will not want to leave. You pretty much roll out of bed into Dolores Park, which has things for kids to do in much the same way that the Himalayas have hills.

Also, your hosts are utterly lovely, which is profoundly frustrating, because you would very much like to resent them for the wonderful place they live. Unfortunately you cannot resent them, because you roll in, jet lagged and cranky, and discover that they have provided an extremely conscientious array of provisions, so you don't even need to go to the convenience store before you collapse into the bed only slightly smaller than the house you left 16 hours earlier. So your resentfulness is instantly replaced by a sort of pathetic, tearful gratitude. And when you wake up, having somehow slept through the night despite the colossal time difference, and you realise that even your 22-month-old daughter is still sleeping soundly, and you get into the cavernous double shower and wash away the airport grime, all that is left is the excitement of a new day in a beautiful neighbourhood.

The only problem is that you may feel so at home there you end up leaving half your belongings behind when you leave, in some sort of subconscious effort to try and move in. That may be just us though.

In short: good. A bit of a weak finish, admittedly, but it's hard to express the sort of Platonic ideal of good that this home represents in simple human language. Sorry about that.

  • Beautiful house. Secluded, in great location right off Dolores park, walking distance to Castro and Mission. Owners have impeccable taste and are the most hospitable I've encountered. It's an oasis in the middle of the city. Could easily sleep 6+ if sunroom bed and giant sectional couch were utilized. Eschew all hotels and stay here every time you visit the city. I plan to.

  • An absolutely perfect stay at this incredible space in the Mission District overlooking Dolores Park. Was impeccably clean and owner even provided maps and zagat guides in addition to notifying his neighbors of my stay there. Close proximity to the Muni train and to great restaurants and coffee shops. Can't wait to stay here again:)

About
I visited San Francisco many years ago as a tourist, and fell in love with the city. I told myself I'd come back, and I did! I moved to San Francisco 7 years ago, from the East Coast, for work. During the winter, I'm up in Tahoe snowboarding almost every weekend. The rest of the year I enjoy discovering new music and restaurants. When the wind is good, my latest hobby is sailing around the Bay with friends. I love to travel and try to do it as often as possible. When I travel, I appreciate the hospitality of others and hope to return that hospitality when I have guests stay at my house. I want you to feel welcomed and fall in love with San Francisco, like I did. -Mickey
