Perfect location and super easy check in. Bit noisy in the front room, but ok standard and would stay there again.
Great location, but actually below average flat compared to other Airbnb places I've stayed in London. I wouldn't call it "trendy," more like a college crash pad - great place for partiers, maybe not so much for families. It was kind of dirty and a bit run-down. The kitchen chairs were held together by plastic grocery bags wrapped around the legs to keep them from falling apart. Seriously. Internet connection is a wifi hotspot that worked only sporadically. Could be a great place if it was cleaned up a bit.
Location is very good. Check-in was totally painless even though we were a bit early. The apartment fulfilled all our needs, shower was good, patio sufficient for my smoking partner and the apt was clean enough. In general it's a barebones apt with no frills.
One thing was really a let down, the beds. The one in the front room (in the pictures) has been exchanged for a bunk bed with very bad matresses and I mean very bad. 4 nights there was close to my backs limit :| The main bed was better but not by much.
All told you get what you pay for but it would really not cost much for the owners to make staying there a much better experience, just getting new mattresses would go a long way!
This apartment is budget accomodation in a central location. It is a ground floor apartment which must have been an old shop front. Apartment is seviced by public transport. Catch the underground to Liverpool station and then bus 242 (24 hours) from Bishopgate Rd to Shoreditch Church. We are a family of 5 and had enough room. The supermarket is only 50 metres away. Shoreditch is a party neighborhood and Saturday night was noisy but the rest of the week was fine. Sol was great with communication and had Malcolm waiting for us when we arrived. Wifi access was great.
Positive: Location is perfect, right in Shoreditch, central to just about everything with easy transit access to downtown. Close to Liverpool St. station, Brick Lane, Spitalfields Market and many bus lines. Many shops and eateries nearby. Be sure to check out the Geffrye Museum a 5-minute walk up Kingsland Road. The kitchen is well equipped. The flat is spacious and very reasonably priced.
Negative: The flat is a converted storefront. It has tremendous potential but needs a little remodeling and some serious maintenance. For example, the lighting is poor: in the front room only overhead fluorescents, and the rest of the overhead lighting is bare bulb. There was a lot of junk and appliances stored in the armoires and cabinets. There were several maintenance issues, e.g., a loose faucet on the bathroom sink, and a broken toilet seat. The outdoor "patio" is full of broken furniture and cleaning equipment, and is unsightly and unusable. The photos need to be updated: The front room now has a bunk bed, not the single shown, and an armoire. Due to the large storefront window (which has broken shades), the front room is noisy. With some work, the flat could be great! (It would be nice to have just a little artwork on the walls.) As it is, it's a great place to flop, but not anywhere you want to hang out during your waking hours.
This was a below average flat. The T.V. satellite was dysfunctional, and sleeping in the front room is uncomfortable as there is too much noise. The window and walls are very bad for stopping the sound. The flat itself is very dusty and unpleasant, especially with the bad smell it always had and the dirty kitchen window, so don't believe the pictures. They are just taken so that the flat looks clean and nice, when it's really not. Also, the bathroom is the size of a closet, and our heater broke down during the night, so it was particularly cold (however, it worked quite well the rest of the time and was fixed the following day.) The washing machine didn't work properly and we had a broken chair. The location of this flat is perfect, as it is close to the subway and the bus. The portable Wi-Fi thing was great too, as was the abundance of utensils and dishes. I wouldn't recommend this flat to families or large groups. This would be a good flat for student tourists who are looking for a relatively cheap place to stay.
We keep contact with Sol and her father everytime we need. Before, during and after the arrival. They advice us how to get there, and they were waiting for us in our arrival to receive the keys. and explain how the flat worked.
We have seen the pictures in the website, and we expected to have 2 double beds, as we had seen two beds with different sheets. But there were just one double bed and a bunk bed. Apart from thad, the flat was complete and clean.
The only problem that I would remark is that it was a ground floor, like an adapted shop, and due to the surroundings, it was quite noisy at nights. You can hear people passing by, and cars, especially at the weekends. On the contrary during the day it's quiet.
We had some problems with the heating the first night, as we couldn't control the temperature. We had to turn it off. All the rest was fine.
On the positive side, we had wifi to use in the flat and we can even carry the device out and have internet wherever we went.
We just came back from our trip and London was great. With this appartment we had couple of issues during our stay (very noisy living room, no microwave, bunk beds instead of twin bed), but we were so busy running around London that those small issues did not matter much to us. Abu was great to resopnd and sent Malcom right-a-way when needed. Location was close mostly to the "night life" to expirience. Any other tourist attractions were almost an hour away by the bus, or 30+ min away with walking and underground. Grocery store is right accross the street and a great coffee shop is next door. Overall, was not bad at all, so Thanks you Abu!
We stayed one week in this apartment.
It met our expectations, we are party to 5 and the least we can say is that we do not lack of space.
The apartment is truly accessible, both by bus and by metro, it is really good.
In conclusion, all was not perfect, but overall we were satisfied with the place and did not have to regret the choice of this apartment.
Great location, easy check in. The heating did not work at first but they came and fixed within a day. Thanks for a great stay in London!
