The Space

All hotel rooms whether a studio apartment or a one bedroom apartment are very spacious! We do not have two bedroom apartments. Each apartment is private. You will be the only guest in your apartment. Only you will have the access code to enter your apartment. Do not share entry codes with anyone else.

This is not shared living. You will have a complete private home. In addition to your own private sleeping arrangements you will have your own kitchen, living room area, and bathroom.

Prior to reserving your apartment we cannot communicate by phone. We can only communicate by messaging on airbnb. After you book your reservation you will be able to continue to communicate with me on airbnb, by email, or by cell phone. I will provide my cell phone number.

We follow the strict cancellation policy. No refunds one week prior to your first day. 50% refund up to one week prior to your first day.

We have a total of eight hotel room apartments.

Our rates are set. We will not lower them any further. There are no discounted rates and no weekly nor monthly discounted rates offered.

Studio apartments are set at the $90 nightly rate.
Check availability for 1R 2Q 3Q 4G.

One bedroom apartments are set at the $110 nightly rate.
Check availability for 3A 3B 3V 4W.

The number of the apartment indicates the floor the apartment is on. For example 4G and 4W are each on the fourth floor.

Our building is located in the heart of Hollywood. We are on the corner of North Cherokee Avenue and West Yucca Street at 1746 North Cherokee Avenue Los Angeles CA 90028.

Stay here and you will be one short block north of Hollywood Boulevard and the Hollywood Walk of Fame Stars. Walk a couple blocks either way and you will find Hollywood and Vine or Hollywood and Highland! Hop on a tourist bus. Or take a public bus located nearby. Bus stops are a block or two away. Walk to the Metro subway train just a few blocks away. Drive or walk to the many tourist destinations Southern California has to offer.

This building was built in the 1920’s by a New York architect. It is a four story building with 90 apartment units. Some of these apartments have been converted to hotel rooms for the convenience of many vacationers on holiday or visitors needing a short term stay. Six steps lead up to are four stairwells and one elevator. There are fire escapes throughout in case of an emergency.

Each hotel room apartment has rich exposed brick walls and hardwood floor throughout most of the apartments.. Live like a local in Hollywood while enjoying the amenities of one's own home. You will be in your own private apartment. This is not shared living space with strangers. You will be with your own family and friends in private.

All hotel room apartments are furnished, have a complete private bathroom, and you will have your own nice sized kitchen. Each apartment has a sofa but they are not sofa beds. The beds in the studio apartments are one queen size bed. The one bedroom apartments have queen size beds in the bedroom plus an extra sleeping arrangement in the living room (3A queen bed, 3B queen size bed, 3V California king size bed, and 4W twin size bed). We do not provide beds for babies, but I can provide extra bed linen and pillows. For your extra guests over four people we do not have sofa beds nor roll away beds nor fold out beds. Yes if you need for your extra guests over four people you may bring your own air mattresses. Please let me know and I will provide extra bed linen for air mattresses.

Each apartment has a window air conditioner floor fan and ceiling fan. And each apartment has a wall heater a space heater, stove, microwave, and refrigerator.

We provide fresh bed linen already prepared on each bed. We provide clean bathroom towels. We provide paper products. Each apartment has a clothes’s iron and a small iron board located in one of the closets.
If there is anything you need please contact me I will help when possible.

It is possible for you to book more guests in your hotel room apartment. The recommendations on the listings are for comfort. Studio apartments accommodate two or more guests. One bedroom apartments accommodate four or more guests. There is a fee for added guests. Please contact me for added guests and more information.

I provide transportation information and directions after you book your reservation.

To arrive to our building you may rent a car at the airport, book a shuttle, or take a taxi. All this information I can provide after you book your reservation. You will need to look online. You can call them to find out their rates. They will know how to arrive to our building. To arrive from Los Angeles International Airport, my best recommended route is taking mostly La Cienega Boulevard. I will provide further route information after you book your reservation.

Check out time is 10:00 am or before. Check in time is 12:00 pm noon or later after noon when you arrive. Call me if you need me. I can be onsite to welcome you or you can come in on your own. I provide information for you to self check in. Ask about free early luggage check in or free late luggage check out. This is a courtesy service. You may also self check out.

Please be careful where you park in Southern California. Parking Enforcement will ticket cars and/or tow your car away. For street parking please read all the street signs. Be aware of street cleaning days, Mondays and Tuesdays in this area. I recommend for you to always park in a pay to park parking lot.

There is no parking located onsite on this property. Directly next door to the building is a parking structure you may pay to park during your stay here. They are PCI Parking Concepts Inc. And across the way there is another parking lot you can pay to park. There are other parking lots in the area. These parking lots are owned by different companies. You can look online, type in something like “parking lots Hollywood.” We are located on the corner of North Cherokee Avenue and West Yucca Street. Different lots provide different services, have different hours, guidelines, and charge different rates. Ask about overnight parking and their current rates.

Parking Concepts Inc.
1718 North Cherokee Avenue Los Angeles CA 90028. Teleph(phone number hidden). Call them for specifications requirements accommodations costs. Currently they charge $16. This price may vary or change. Please look online for information. This is not in and out parking. You will always find available parking here. There is someone present in the booth 24 hours, 7 days a week.

You will find a keypad to enter your hotel room apartment. I will provide the code after you have booked your reservation. Do not share entry codes with anyone else. Keys are located inside your hotel room apartment on the coffee table or next to the television. One key opens both the front main gate and the side entry gate on West Yucca Street. The other key opens both the laundry room located in the basement and the trash bin door located outside on West Yucca Street. If there is another key this one may be for the other lock on your hotel room apartment door. Sometimes keys get misplaced, call me and I can provide a copy.

Courtesy cable television is provided in each hotel room apartment and wireless internet is provided for all hotel guests. The network and the password code are located on the side of the router. It is clearly written. Look for the black and white router in your hotel room apartment. Each hotel room apartment has a router plugged in most likely placed in the living room or kitchen on a table or counter. Click on the network on your device and enter the password code.

The laundry room is located in the basement for your use. You are provided a laundry room key. This same key opens the trash bin door outside on West Yucca Street. The key should be in your hotel room apartment on a table or by the TV. There are six washer machines and six dryers. The washer machines and dryer machines are all quarter operated. There are no laundry products sold here.

For your comfort and safety we have a security guard who lives onsite. He is available for nonemergencies, noise complaints, middle of the night disturbances, or any suspicious activity. I will provide the guard’s name and cell phone number after you have booked your reservation. The safety of the neighborhood and building is a personal opinion. I feel very safe here. You may contact the police department online. They are located on Wilcox Avenue for neighborhood safety.

There is no smoking allowed indoors at the Alexa Hotel At The Artiste Apartments. You may smoke outside in the courtyard.

We welcome children. Please let me know if you have any special needs. I will try to accommodate, if possible.

We are very pet friendly. Pets are welcomed. Please describe your pets accompanying you. I do not need photos nor records but I recommend you have with you photos of your pets and current vaccination records in the case of an emergency you will be prepared. Please clean up after all your pets both indoors and outdoors. If you need anything special, please let me know.

This is a residential building. Our permanent residents will call our security guard and the police department if there is excessive continued loud noises coming from any of our hotel room apartments. This can include but is not limited to continued loud music partying and roughhousing. If you plan to party I strongly recommend you consider doing so at another location. And so, the same applies to residents. Hotel guests may call our security guard or myself, at any time, for any reason.

There is no professional nor amateur filming, video recording, nor photographing, allowed on the premises. There is none allowed, not inside the apartment nor anywhere around the building, not inside the building nor around the building property. You must contact me first to discuss obtaining the property owner’s permission. Or we will strictly have your crew, subjects, equipment, and all property quickly removed.

  • We had a great stay. The apartment was as described.. Clean and comfortable. Room was very easy to access and in a great location. Martha is a lovely host.

  • The place was horrible, we checked out after one night, since the place was not clean. The sheets and towels were stained, there was left overs of food in the fridge and the floor was sticky. When we called Martha she showed no interest at all when we said we wanted to check out and refused to even discuss a refund. We will definetially not recommend others. We ended up paying double on our honeymoon stay in LA since we couldn't bare the place.

    Regarding Mr Or Amit and Sharon.
    Apartment 1R. Reservation dates of Mar 29 – Apr 5. Booked reservation on Feb 15 2014.

    This is a warning to all hosts, as airbnb clearly tells us, “You're always in control of who stays at your place, and it’s OK to say no.” If I can go back in time I would say no to Or and Sharon. I strongly and definitely do not recommend these two people to any hosts.

    As hosts, you will not be given any opportunity by the Amits to address any concerns which Or and Sharon may allegedly have. They do not tell you. Instead they expect to have their complete money refunded after they have checked in, stayed the night, stayed past our normal check out time, and only stated, “This is not what we expected.” In my opinion, this suspicious behavior makes these guests horrible guests.

    I received a telephone call on Sat Mar 29 at 10:11 pm. Or Amit claims he did not receive the entry code to enter his apartment. If he had shown any interest in being a good guest he would have read all the information I provide. I remind and remind all guests to note the entry codes. On the telephone, I patiently directed him to the three messages I sent him on Feb 15 with all the information and instructions. I also verbally told him both the front gate entry code and his apartment 1R entry code.

    I received a telephone call on Sun Mar 30 at 9:44 am. Sharon called to inform me they checked out. She never said what her issues were. Sharon only said, “This is not what we expected.” Once she said they checked out and did not tell me their concerns and wanted their money refunded, I informed her they are free to stay or go but it is the property owner’s policy not to refund any monies at this point in time. It remains their room. Sharon asked me to reconsider. I told her it is not my policy but the property owner’s policy. She said, “Well, we are still checking out today.” And she ended the phone call.

    I received a text message on Sun Mar 30 at 11:13 am. Or and Sharon wrote: “We checked out. Keys are at the night stand. We request you to re-consider our refund request. Have a good week. Saron&Or” The apartment was fine enough for them to stay overnight and to stay past check out.

    I sent a text message on Fri Apr 4 at 8:27 am. I wrote: “Or and Sharon. The reason the property owner does not refund is we cannot most likely get this apartment booked by another guest at this point in time. Also you did not give me the opportunity to address any concerns you have about the apartment that is when you have arrived for your reservation. You did not state the issues you have regarding 1R. By telephone, Sharon only said, ‘This is not what we expected.’ Thank you and take care, Martha.”

    They submitted their review Mon Apr 7. Their review seems suspect. Compare other reviews of apartment 1R and the photographs. We have an excellent cleaning girl. Other guests comment positively on our comfortable and clean beds. Or and Sharon claim there were leftovers. We leave items in the refrigerator, counter, and cabinets, which we believe other guests might want to use if they choose, such as seasonings, salad dressing, coffee, condiments, whole onions, garlic, etc.

    Or and Sharon claim I showed no interest. However, I was following policy. These guests did not tell me what their issues were. I do not have the power to refund money and I told them that. I told them the property owner follows airbnb’s option of strict policy. “Strict: 50% refund up until 1 week prior to arrival, except fees.”

    The strict policy also states, “If the guest arrives and decides to leave early, the nights not spent are not refunded.” This is what Or and Sharon Amit did. However creating excuses and reasons to check out early does not mean it ought to go their way. If they came from another country and did not like the city or neighborhood, they should have been honest, not created fabrications.

    Airbnb states, “If there is a complaint from either party, notice must be given to Airbnb within 24 hours of check-in.” However, they knew their assertions are baseless and unjustified that of course they never contacted airbnb.

    Hosts, remember these names. Or and Sharon Amit. They are dirty and shady way to be as guests. They heck in and stay the night, pass our normal check out time, do not state issues, want their money refunded. These two people are and sounded suspect to me, so I could only step aside and allow Or and Sharon to do what they had already made up their minds to do.

    They state in their review that I showed no interest. It seems to me that they did not hear what they wanted to hear from me. They wanted two nights free and all of their money refunded.

  • Fantastic location just near the walk of fame,felt like we were living in Hollywood rather than staying in a faceless (website hidden) and plenty of living space, not forgetting the walk in wardrobe.Martha was a fabulous host easy to contact and always replied promptly and helped out greatly with our requests.Great to wake up everyday with the Hollywood sign at the end of the street and the stars on the sidewalk at the other end.Would recommend Martha as a host and the accommodation to anyone wishing to visit Los angeles.

  • Our stay at Martha's went fabulously. The room was just like the description & pictures. Martha was fantastic with communication and a very lovely lady. Location was perfect, super close to all the main attractions just one street back from Hollywood blvd. would definitely recommend this room.

  • For one person or a couple this would probably be a pretty good room. The area looks a bit seedy at first but I felt perfectly safe and would recommend this for a shorter stay. The Internet was a little too shotty for my liking but that's not that big of a deal

  • The apartment is clean and very spacious. It was awesome to make our little breakfast in the morning with the equipment of the apartment, before running around all day!

    It is indeed VERY WELL located, just a few blocks to all of Hollywood's greatest attractions. The residents of the building are very friendly.

    Martha was an amazing host. She responded to all of our questions very quickly. Also, the last day, after we checked out, Martha was able to arrange for us to leave our luggage at a safe place so we could do more sightseeing without having to carry our suitcases. That was very appreciated!

    We already recommended Alexa Hotel to our friends. Thanks for everything!

  • We had a wonderful experience staying at Martha's place. The room was spacious and the kitchen was a plus. There was lots of closet space and the location was fantastic. It was right in the middle of hollywood walk of fame and we were able to take the metro rail and the buses to various tourist destinations. Check in was easy breezy, so was check out. We personally did not meet our host but everything we needed was there in the room. The place was right in the tourist destination but at the same time it was not loud and noisy. It was located on a quiet street. We had some amazing fish tacos right down the street ( pls try it, they are amazing ).
    We will definitely recommend this place to all our friends and also look forward to coming and staying at Martha's place in the near future. There is so much to see!!!!

  • Location! Location! Location!! This room is located in a fantastic location. It is literally 1 block from Hollywood Blvd.
    When we arrived, all of the details which Marta had provided were accurate. The photographs are up to date and match the room.

    Despite being right off of Hollywood Blvd, the building is very quiet. It is located right in between West Hollywood and Silverlake, so if your socialising takes you to either or both of these locations, you're on to a winner here. Uber trips between the apartment and the 2 locations costs about $10-15. Also, the Metro station is just a few blocks west.
    The kitchen was well equipped and all appliances worked perfectly. The bed is super comfortable and clean, with lots of room to move around.
    The bathroom was good, and the toilet was clean. The water ran very hot immediately, so a warm shower (or a cool one) is not a problem.
    There is a lot of storage for clothing, with a large walk-in style closet.
    This room is a great price, in a fab location, and is quiet and relaxing.

My husband and I love walking our Boxer dog on nearby Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood is a wonderful tourist destination. You will be in the center of all that Hollywood has to offer.
