This is a recently renovated and impeccably decorated one bedroom flat that is warm and inviting for your stay in Hong Kong. It sits charmingly above the main antique shop street, Hollywood Road, on Hong Kong Island and in the early mornings, you can smell the incense burning as offerings that the shops light.... and it is still a 5 minute walk to Central.
It is fully equipped with all amenities (far superior to any serviced apartment) so you can arrive with your suitcase and immediately sit down to check your emails on the computer (or via your laptop on the wi-fi available) and even begin to cook your dinner..... It can sleep a couple and one additional person comfortably as there are two "real" beds [one queen in the bedroom and one full real "daybed" in the living room].
Included, in brief:
- Towels & linens: freshly washed once a week
- Computer and large work space
- Full kitchen equipped with base condiments, pots, pans, cutlery, etc. [ready for cooking]
- Espresso machine
- Stereo/DVD player with iPod dock
- CDRoms and DVDs for entertainment
- Mini-stereos for iPod docking in bath and bedrooms
- Local landline telephone with unlimited calling
These amenities are superior to the usually very bare bone (and slightly depressing) serviced apartments in HK as well as other sublets—your comfort will be far improved. The decor is tasteful, warm and peaceful and it is impeccably maintained.
There is a very comfortable (full-sized) daybed in the living room, which can be used to sleep another person, as well as the queen-sized bed in the bedroom and an additional sofa in the living room.
There is also a work area in the front of the apartment with two desks, scanner, and an internet-ready Mac computer for use, etc.
It is in a fabulous location, near the Man Mo Temple and above the antique shops on Hollywood Road, 2 minutes from Soho, surrounded by antique shops, restaurants and nightlife [but quiet], and a 5 min walk to the MTR.
Minimum stay of 4 nights.
Please kindly send an introduction of yourself when inquiring.
Thank you for your interest.
My wife, toddler daughter, and I stayed at Amy's place during the Chinese New Year holidays. We live only an hour away in China, but we wanted to have a few days in Hong Kong getting to know another area of the city better. Our stay on Hollywood Road was great. Amy's flat is in an awesome location, only 10-minutes walk from the Central-Mid-Levels escalators with lots of restaurants, cafés, and interesting shops nearby.
We were able to feel like locals right away. We appreciated the preparation Amy took for her guests from emails before our visit, maps and guidebooks available, and a book she made to get her guests acquainted with the neighborhood and the flat. She had a lovely bottle of wine waiting for us on our arrival. Loving good food, she told us in advance some places to try and where to shop. She had a loaf of bread waiting for us in the freezer to get us going.
We enjoyed having a kitchen to cook when we wanted to. The bed in the bedroom was very comfortable as were the daybed and sofa. There's lots of daylight from two sides of the apartment, though you probably want to draw the blinds at night. Amy mentioned getting water delivered, but the water in Hong Kong is safe to drink from the tap so that's what we did.
We're always concerned about the suitability of places we stay for our 1 1/2 year-old daughter -- safety for her and for the owners' possessions. We moved just a few items in the flat, but it was very safe for her. We did have a baby stroller and took it out with us each day. While it was worth having, it is good to keep in mind that there are a lot of steps -- not just here but just about everywhere in Hong Kong. To get to Amy's apartment, you have to either climb or descend a set of stairs from the street to the door of the building and then climb up a pretty narrow set of stairs to the 2nd floor (or 3rd floor depending on where you're from). This wasn't a problem without the stroller, but it's worth keeping in mind if you have or stroller or if you have limited mobility.
On the plus side for parents, the Hollywood Road Children's Playground is just a few steps away across the street from the Man Mo Temple. Our daughter loved it and we liked meeting other parents there too.
We really enjoyed our stay. Thanks, Amy!
We stayed a couple of nights in Amy's flat with a 16 months' old daughter in January. The flat is in an excellent location, in the middle of the quirky Hollywood Road / Sheungwan neighbourhood, great for exploring; and within walking distance to the shops and bars in Central but away from the all night thumping music (it is really tranquil at night), easy access to all forms of transport, too.
Amy was a great host. We had problems getting in when we arrived and was able to contact her in the US in the middle of the night and the bottle of wine was much appreciated after a long day with an active toddler.
The flat itself is lovely, cosy, full of personality and comfortable.I particularly loved the windows which were great for people watch.
There are a couple of things worth mentioning, though.
1. There are a lot of stairs to navigate, particularly the ones inside the building which have narrow treads and landings, tricky to navigate with large suitcases.
2 The hot water in the flat was a bit temperamental. We left it on for half and hour as instructed but it still suddenly gave out scalding hot water or went cold. I was relieved that my daughter wasn't in the shower when these happened.
Other than these, I think the flat is great and we enjoyed our stay.
Thank you, Uma, for your review and being such a clean and respectful guest. You had mentioned having issues getting in, and I just want to explain to the AirBnB community that this was not because entry into the apartment is a difficult process but because you had unfortunately missed my email sent prior to your trip with updated (for security reasons) codes to enter. I was very happy to help you upon your arrival from the States. however!
Also, the water has never been sporadic or an issue for other guests or myself (here for 5 years) and I was surprised to hear that it was for you — I wish you had informed me and I would have gladly explained how to adjust the water temp from the actual hot water heater so that it only sends out lukewarm water or I would have, alternatively, have sent a handyman immediately. Upon my return after you left, it was working perfectly. Next time, please do let the host know if there is an issue when it happens so that we may help resolve it while you are there!
My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying here for a week. We arrived to a wonderful bottle of wine and flowers (it was my girlfriends birthday) as well as a nice homemade booklet that gave a few recommendations for food as well as spa's. If this apartment was in a hotel, you would be paying $500+ a night. Really enjoyed staying there and the location is wonderful. Walking distance to the bar scene but far enough away that the only noise you will hear at night might be cars going down the street. We both highly recommend staying there and Amy is a great host.
I stayed at Amy's place over a weekend with two of my friends for a girls' weekend. Amy's been very nice and responsive already way before I even booked her place, and once booked, sent over all details in a nice PDF.
Her place is awesomely located at Hollywood Road, very close to a lot of good restaurants and brunch places, about 5-7 min walk to the escalators or a little further to LKF. It was better than any hotel could have been.
Amy's place is lovely, she decorated it in such a nice way, I think she's really done the best of the place. She has a sleeping bed as well as another sofa in the living room, so the three of us could easily sleep on the bed, sofa bed and sofa respectively. she left us extra sheets for all the sleeping places.
Not to mention, we were welcomed with a bottle of wine! now that's extra service!!!
We did have some trouble finding the key box outside the door, mainly because we were blind. it was right there next to the door, as Amy has written in her PDF. we had a good laugh about it once we found it!
I can really recommend this place to anyone that wants to be at a central location, it really couldn't have been better.
Thanks Amy for hosting us.
Amy's flat is in a central area of Hong Kong and we were able to become part of what it is to live in such an exciting city. Thank you for all the little extra touches in terms of food, wine and making us feel at home . Comfortable beds, lovely linen and clean apartment. It was a pleasure staying in your home. Under amenities a TV was listed but under description it is not mentioned.
Amy's apartment is perfect, as a host she treats you as a close friend. The location of her flat was very convenient to the MTR and taxi's were easily hailed at all times of the day. The amount of amazing restaurants near Amy's flat made things really easy too. The location is absolutely wonderful, you can spend days having fun exploring around the neighborhood.
Amy keeps her flat spotless clean, her maid Cristina does an amazing job on the weekends.
Thanks for everything Amy!
Thanks again Amy, enjoyed my stay a lot and can only highly recommend your place.Hope to see you around in HK one day.
Amy was one of the most accommodating hosts I've met on AirBnB. She made sure I had everything I could possibly need for my stay.
The apartment is amazing, great decoration, clean and bright. Hollywood Road is an ideal location to stay, restaurants, bars, shops and little art galleries are a just a few steps away. Getting around is very easy, the MTR is within 5 minutes walk and there are always taxis driving by.
This is the perfect place if you're only visiting for a few days or staying for longer term, I highly recommend both Amy and her wonderful apartment.
Amy's apartment is a great cozy place with all the amenities for longer term stays, like a kitchen and laundry machine. She is very communicative as a host and having the flexible check in and check out is awesome. She has many small touches which make you feel like you're dealing with a friend versus a business transaction. Also the location is great to get to anywhere in the city and the MTR is about a 5 - 8 minute walk down the hill.
