I love the ocean that is right in front of you! Just to sit on the lanai and enjoy the waves and watching the fish and the turtles, total relaxation! Magic Sands beach is right next door and is a wonderful way to start you day with a cup of coffee in hand.
A trolly stops right in front of the condo. $2.00 a ride will take you around town and to the shops. You can park your car in your own reserved parking space right next to the building. It is 20-30 minutes south of the airport.

Diana was a fabulous host. We did not have the pleasure of meeting her personally, but our online interactions were great. She went above and beyond what I expected from an AirBnB host. The condo was exactly as advertised, completely cozy and had incredible views. The lanai looking out onto the ocean was breathtaking. We saw dolphins, sea turtles and lots of colorful fish. The waves at night were somewhat loud, but we got used to them after one night. The condo was located close to many great restaurants and stores, and beaches which were easily accessed by car or trolley, not to mention the amazing beach right beside the Magic Sands complex. The saltwater pool and the shared BBQ's at the Magic Sands were also great. We greatly enjoyed our stay in Diana's amazing condo and I have no doubt that we will be back many times in the next years. Thank you Diana!
great location, beautiful views overlooking the ocean. condo was very clean and spacious. Would recommend this place to others who plan on staying in Kona
The location at Magic Sands couldn't be better, tucked between a public park on one side, and public beach on another. This one bed, one bath condo with a large lanai is a good place to relax to the sound of waves. Don't expect hotel like-luxury or vibrant conversation from the other residents, but with a slightly salt-water pool and BBQ area the place is tranquil and relaxing. Good ocean view of the lani, where you can see surfers, cruise ships and if lucky, a whale. While not the cheapest place on the Kona side, it offered privacy and functional kitchen to help you save $.
Only one word of warning - be prepared to be accosted by the owner for undocumented, imagined 'extra' charges for things like 'stains' on rugs or sheets. She won't provide photo documentation and will complain to AirBnB about unspecified damages with no proof. To AirBnB's credit, they immediately invalidated her baseless, unsubstantiated claim and we were not victimized by this unscrupulous owner. Hopefully everyone else will be as lucky. Take pictures of the place when you arrive and as you leave to proved you've left it as you found it. Some people aren't content to merely receive a fair price for their service ($998 per week), and believe they are entitled to income enhancement when they run a little short on their mortgage check. Enjoy the location, just beware of owner and stick to your guns if you leave the place as you found it.
This was a great base for exploring the Big Island. Diana replied back to me whenever I contacted her. Checking in and out was extremely easy. We had everything we needed in order to take care of ourselves such as plates and pots and pans. Diana even delivered another pan while we were staying there. I was able to make breakfast whenever I wanted. There's a Walmart and KTA Supermarket not too far to obtain supplies and restaurants are also close by. There were beach towels and chairs and an umbrella available as well. The lanai was perfect for enjoying a meal and watching the sun set. There's a beach next to the complex, but we didn't take advantage of that.
We had a short but wonderful trip to the Big Island, and we were lucky to find a place that was right on one of the few sandy beaches in the area. While it is not a luxury condo, it has all the cozy comforts of home, and the view from the lanai can't be beat! We slept with the sliding doors open the first night, and the ocean is so close, it was almost too loud!
The condo was clean and comfortable with a large lanai making for great whale watching. The building and grounds are not very attractive and it is on a busy street with no walking paths.
We stayed 4 nights at Diana's condo at Kona Magic sands. The location and the view are amazing, literally right on the ocean. There is a large balcony which gives the perfect spot to enjoy meals while watching the waves and sunsets.
The condo came equipped with towels and everything we needed for the stay and the common area has a pool and a few bbqs.
We hope to come back again another time. Thanks!
