I take pride in my one bedroom garden apt, located on the ground level of a 3 story brownstone. I make sure each guest feels properly at home! The neighborhood boasts of great food, nice people, and offers easy access in and out of Manhattan.

The Space

Right in the heart of Fort Greene, this is my garden apartment in a traditional Brooklyn Brownstone! You are just steps away from all of the restaurants, cafes, and things to do in Fort Greene Brooklyn. It is a very friendly, safe, and charming neighborhood. The apartment's location makes it easy to get in and out of Manhattan through public transit or car, and also is very convenient to Williamsburg, Park Slope, and Carroll Gardens.

I want you to feel comfortable in my home. Among a fully stocked kitchen with enough room for two to cook AND eat in (what a concept for new york!), there's also a washer/dryer. (And thanks to the suggestions of a few airbnb guests, I now have a coffee maker!)

The bed has a super comfortable pillow top mattress and high quality sheets. There is a walk-in closet in the bedroom with hanger space for your clothes. There is a couch which has the option of pulling out into a flat bed. This pullout can comfortably sleep one person. In the bedroom, there is a large work area with access to a printer.

I have wifi and directv cable with an HD projector.

There is a great backyard to sit out and have evening drinks. The backyard is shared with my landlord, who lives above me and maintains it. Because of this, we have access to only the area underneath the porch, not the area with the benches...

There are multiple CitiBike stations within 3 blocks of the apartment. You can rent bikes by the hour/day/week. Check it out online! It's a great way to see Brooklyn and Manhattan!

Nearby fun neighborhood stuff includes:
Fort Greene Park - 1 block away
Farmers Market - 2 blocks away (Sat only)
BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) - 3 blocks away
Barclays Center - 4 blocks away
Brooklyn Flea (a local favorite!) - 3 blocks away
Habana Outpost (best mojitos in Brooklyn!) - 1 block away
Crunch Gym - 4 blocks away
Brooklyn Botanical Gardens - 2 subway stops away
BRIC House for the Arts (Opened last year!) - 5 blocks away

I am right off the C and G subways, and 4 blocks from the B/D, Q/N/R, 2/3, 4/5 subways and the Long Island Rail Road. You can be in lower Manhattan in 15 minutes. Getting to JFK is easy through the LIRR.

You are literally in the middle of everything. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

If you stay for 4 days or longer, I'll include a free 5 day pass to the gym for you and one guest! Be sure to mention that to me ahead of time so I can have a pass ready for you.

Because this apartment is a brownstone in the heart of Brooklyn, there are factors you should consider before renting:

- My bedroom does face an active city street and bus stop which can get noisy with city buses and cars. If you consider yourself a light sleeper, you may want to think twice. Anybody accustomed to mild city living would most likely not be bothered.

- Cell phone reception in the apartment is extremely poor. AT&T is almost non-existent. Verizon is spotty at best. T-Mobile works well. You can get reception by the windows with most providers.

- Because the apartment is not outfitted to be child safe, we ask that no children under 8 years old accompany you during your stay.

- I love pets more than anybody, but unfortunately, my landlord asks not to have them in the apartment.

Guest Access

There is a great backyard to sit out and have evening drinks. The backyard is shared with my landlord, who lives above me and maintains it. Because of this, we have access to only the area underneath the porch, not the area with the benches...

Interaction with Guests

I usually get a chance to meet my guests, but not always. You will most likely be on your own during your stay, however, if you want to grab a drink or a bite to eat, I would love that.

The Neighborhood

We have such a diverse neighborhood in Fort Greene, and everybody is so approachable. If you stumble in a bar or restaurant, be sure to strike up a conversation, b/c I find the life stories of people around here are very unique. The neighborhood has also become a hot spot for culture in the last year adding both a Shakespearean center and the Bric performing arts center within a 5 minute walk of the apartment.

Getting around

The Barclays Center would never have been built if this area weren't a major hub for travel. You have most of the major subway lines (2,3,4,5,B,D,Q,N,R,C,G) and also the Long Island Rail Road...It's a 5 minute drive from both the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. Cabs are easy to come by.

Free parking can be found on every street around my apartment. Although not always readily available, my guests have never complained, and have said it was easier than they thought it would be.

From the 3 airports, cab is always an option. From Newark, you can take public transit by means of bus or from shuttle/train/subway. From Laguardia, you can take bus/subway. From JFK, you can take shuttle/subway or shuttle/Long Island Rail Road (fastest)

  • We loved our stay at Collin's home in Brooklyn! Unlike many Airbnb experiences I've had lately, Collin actually lives there and takes great pride in his space and neighborhood - he even offered to give us a tour! He bent over backwards to make sure we got in easily when we arrived late - this was so nice after hours of traveling from Europe by train and plane, we had a one night layover - some hosts refused to take us for such a short rental but Collin was happy to have us! He had the makings for tea and coffee all ready for us which I REALLY appreciated, plus a bottle of wine and neighborhood spots to visit. This experience exemplifies why I use Airbnb vs other rental vendors, I want to get to know the spirit of the community and host while in their world and Collin certainly provided that. Plus, his brownstone is super cute with a wild english garden in the back and fabulous location close to the AC line and the Habana Outpost, (plus Madiba and Chez Oskar) and Fort Green park are just a few steps away. I slept on the pull out - which was comfy and my friend said his bed was amazingly comfortable. Don't hesitate, this is the spot to stay in if you want to be in Fort Green, I only wish we'd had a longer stay! Thanks Collin!

  • Collin is a very considerate host. He has a warm, very clean and cozy appartement and provided us with everything we needed for our first weekend in NYC. Everything was prepared for us to feel at home including a bottle of wine in the fridge :-) Sadly we did not meet him in person but everything was perfectly prepared and communication very fast. Also he provided us with a guide/manual that described fool-proof and clearly any additional features, e.g. a projector, tv, and other features of his appartement. I would definitely like to come back and can highly recommend this appartement!

  • My parents very much enjoyed staying here. They are from the west coast and not used to city life but found the apartment to be very comfortable, safe and relaxing. It is extremely clean and tidy, with helpful instructions throughout for operating the TV, washing machine, etc, that my parents were able to easily follow. The location is fantastic - so close to the subway, restaurants, and shops. And Fort Greene is a wonderful part of Brooklyn - great places to eat and things to do while only being a few stops outside of Manhattan. My parents will likely stay here again the next time they are in town - Collin's apartment is a much better option than a hotel.

  • I only have great thing to say about our stay at Collin´s. Not only the place is beautiful and in pristine condition, but Collin is a very accomodating host, out flight was late on arrival and the departure was at 4 PM, he didn't have any problem that we stayed until the time came to go to the airport. The place is perfect. The mattress is like sleeping on a cloud. Personally, my husband and I did not hear noise at night from the street. We had our family for our youngest daughter graduation and enjoyed at his apartment three nights of delicious homemade foods from a very well equiped kitchen. The neighborhood is beautiful. There are tons of restaurantes, coffee shops, and every single wish you could have. And with that projector he has, we watched the best NBA matches of our lives!!!! I've been renting apartments for sometime now when I travel but this is, definitely, one of the best of them. My only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Next time!!!!

  • We have stayed several times in Brooklyn because our daughter lives there. This was the best ! The location was perfect...close to the subways, her apt and many fun restaurants (good donuts around the block) . We chose this apartment because it was "street level" and we didn't want to lug our bags up numerous flights of stairs. There is only a couple of steps down to the apartment. In addition, it is light and airy. The bedroom is on street side so it can be a little noisy at night....but it is NY ! Leaving the back door to the patio open allows for fresh air during the nice spring days. The apartment was extremely clean. The projection TV and W/D were extras we enjoyed. We had a car and didn't have trouble finding a parking space in the area. This is the best apartment we have stayed in Ft. Greene.

  • Spent a week in collin's apartment in May with our children (14 and 17). Collin was an excellent host, got us from the subway when we arrived. Gave us a good but short explanation (we were quite tired when we arrived), and kept in contact during the week. We liked the appletv setup with beamer very much! Apartment was clean, all equipment worked fine. Only downside was the couch/bed that are kids used to sleep on. It was quite small for them. We liked the location very much, close to shops, subway with many lines going to manhattan.

  • Collin's apartment was so lovely, and he greeted us with a smile and gave us a tour and so many helpful tips about the place and the neighborhood. My mother kept exclaiming that his home was so perfectly organized, and that the kitchen decor was really cute. We enjoyed the tv that was a projected screen on the wall, and the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was outfitted with toiletries. The neighborhood is fantastic and we loved its energy and the availability of fantastic restaurants, bars, liquor stores, and small grocery stores. We would definitely stay here again!!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Colin's apartment it was very clean and close to everything we needed, food, train, etc. He was quick to respond to my out reach and made sure to check in on us.

  • Collin's place was great! The most impressive part is that he really does a lot of extra things to make it a comfortable "hotel like" place to stay - large comfortable towels, toiletries, information on how to use everything, local restaurants etc. He was also very responsive and easy to communicate with. Overall, great experience.

  • Collin was a great host who was there to meet us when we arrived showing us the apartment and pointing out local stores and restaurants. The apartment had everything we could possibly want. Would recommend to all!

I try to travel to two new countries a year...I live in Brooklyn in the amazing Fort Greene neighborhood and work as a motion artist.....I am a very respectful and easy going guy. I love hopping in a car and getting lost (planned or unplanned)....Very simple formula for enjoying my vacations: some wine, a recommendation, and a scooter.... If you get a chance to stay at my place, I welcome you to this beautiful area of Brooklyn. For all my potential hosts, I won't be there much, but hopefully I'll get a chance to meet you and say hello....
