  • Dore was great to work with during my month long trip! I received specific information about the house well before my stay, making me feel prepared. I did do some cleaning upon arrival for personal comfort (e.g. counter tops, silverware container, refrigerator, floors, duvet cover). We also had some issues regarding the refrigerator and he was very apologetic and fixed the issue as best he could. Dore even came down to the house to meet with us which was very nice! The neighborhood is very quiet and private for the most part. The neighbors to the right were awesome, and I really got to know them during my stay. They also have a cat named Pepik who is very very friendly; visited every morning and throughout the day and will love your attention. The bikes were very handy to ride down to the water to check out the surf, to Main St Bagels on 41st, Penny Ice Creamery, Pleasure Point Pizza, and East Side Eatery for bottomless mimosa fridays! Overall great stay and I would stay here again if ever in the area.

  • We enjoyed our stay at the Hideaway! Very comfortable, clean and within walking distance to beach/shops/restaurants as advertised!

  • Cute place in a great location. Everything was clean and tidy and there was a smattering of random cooking ingredients which made grocery shopping a bit cheaper. The outdoor patio table and chairs made for a great place to enjoy the sun while escaping the wind. The cottage is small but was fine for 2 couples as we only ate and slept there. About my only complaint (and it is minor) was the mattress I slept in sagging.

  • Cute little house and great location close to the beach. My friends and I enjoyed the fact that it was only a block to east cliff drive. The house was clean and everything laundered. Tons of blankets and a heater that worked almost too well. I will definitely stay here again. Dore was very helpful and accommodating.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the hideaway. The location was just perfect for us because you can easily walk to the best surfing spots in the area! Wake up, grab your board and walk to the beach!
The cottage itself is cute and well equipped. We appreciated the coffee, tea and cooking ingredients. There were even some fresh herbs in the little front yard.
The front yard is also great for relaxing in the afternoon sun. The neighborhood is very quiet.
We are definitely planning to come back!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in Santa Cruz. I had no idea how close the house was to one of the most ideal surf spots in California. Absolutely perfect area to learn how to surf or SUP. Can't wait to go back! Thanks Dore.

  • My friends and I had an amazing weekend at the Hideaway. It's such a cute and cozy spot for a group of four or five. The location is perfect, right up the street from the beautiful beach and a short bike ride away from the shops and restaurants on 41st Ave. The house was clean and comfortable and the refrigerator poetry magnets were a hoot. Dore was super accommodating and easy to work with. This is a great little place for a weekend getaway.

Longtime California residents working in the music and natural foods fields, we love having a space so close to the water. As a professional musician I'm in several groups playing several styles, my wife is a nutritionist and loves to learn. When we're at the hideaway we spend alot of time outside hiking biking swimming surfing eating etc. We've spent a goodly amount of time in the tropics especially the Caribbean, this is as close as we can get to that here on the mainland!
