Walk to world class surf spots at Pleasure Point and Opal Cliffs, or just chill in the cozy comfortable environs. Short easy walking distance to good coffee surfshops icecream pizza sushi bbq natural foods taqueria burgers and anything else you may need.
No need to get back in your vehicle but it's a short drive to Capitola by the Sea, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Henry Cowell and Big Basin Redwoods Parks and the Mystery Spot, as well as Bargetto's and many other local wineries to tour and taste!

This neighborhood is what Santa Cruz was like years ago- quiet, mellow, active, lots of folks enjoying the outdoors and the amazing access to the ocean.
It's an easy 5 minute walk to public transit, two buslines on different streets run nearby (but not too near!).
Check-in Time: Check-in time is at 3pm. Early check-in times are allowed only when the House is cleaned and ready for occupancy. Prior approval is required. Keys will be accessible via a lock box at the left side of the house on the gas meter and combination number for access will be provided a few days before your arrival.
Check out time is 11am. Prior approval is required for late check-out. Please be sure to :
1) put keys back in lock box before departure;
2) leave all TV/DVD remote controls and extra keys in the House;
3) turn off all inside and outside lights, if used;
4) close and lock all windows;
5) turn all heaters off, used;
6) and lock front and back doors securely as you leave at the end of the Reserve Period. Make sure that the shed on the side of the house is locked as well. You do not have to lock the laundry room.
*Cleaning: The House will be inspected, sanitized and cleaned prior to your arrival. After your departure, the cleaning fee you paid will provide for two house of normal cleaning. You are required to leave the house in the same general condition that your received it by making sure:
1) you remove all items which you have brought (including food); 2)with respect to the kitchen, clean and put away all items used, clean the kitchen countertops and wash all dishes used;
3) tidy up the House so that it is in an orderly fashion;
4) put away all dvds and cds played;
5) and put first set of towels/sheets in the washing machine.
The House should be left in a reasonably clean manner so that it is ready to be vacuumed, dusted and sanitized. If additional cleaning is required, appropriate charges will be deducted from Security Deposit at the rate of $30.00 per hour.
What we supply: The House is equipped and set up as a fully furnished House which includes: bedspreads, linens, blankets, pillows, towels, beach towels, games, puzzles, fully equipped kitchen, flat screen LCDTV/, high speed cable internet (wifi), bikes, boogie boards and a surfboard.
What you should bring: Even though we supply some of these amenities, we recommend you bring with you such items as bath soap, shampoo and all other personal toiletries. We do have beach towels available, but please feel free to bring your own. If you bring your pet you may want to bring his/her favorite toys and sleeping bed, so they are as comfortable as possible.
Tenants Liability: Tenant agrees to accept liability for any damages caused to the House (other that normal wear and tear) or stolen from the House, including but not limited to landscaping, misuse of appliances and/or equipment furnished. If the damages are in excess of the Security Deposit being held, Tenant agrees to reimburse Owners for costs incurred to repair/replace damaged/taken items within 5 days of invoice.
Hold harmless: Tenant will assume all responsibility if any injury, accident or death should occur at the House, or as a result of events at the beach or their venue during their stay. Any citations that may occur during your stay (loud music violations, under age minors drinking, etc.) will be the responsibility of the Tenant during their stay. Owners will personally not allow any such actions. If law enforcement contacts us for any such violations, we will evict all parties involved and no refund of the remaining balance will be issued.
*Parking: The House provides for two (2) parking spaces on the street directly in front of Owners and Tenant agree as follows:
Tenant is an adult and will be an occupant of the House during the entire Reserve Period. Other Occupants will be limited to family members, friends and/or responsible adults. Use of the House will be denied to persons not falling within the aforementioned categories, and as a result such persons will have to vacate the House immediately without any refund. No key will be issued to anyone who is not an adult. Non-compliance with this provision shall be grounds for immediate eviction of Tenant and all Occupants.
Tenant will not use or permit the House, or any part of the House, to be used or occupied for other than residential purposes as a vacation rental. Tenant agrees that no more that the number of Occupants referenced above will occupy the House at any time.
Tenant understands that Owner is not providing insurance for Tenant’s personal property at the House. Tenant and Occupants shall look to their own insurance for coverage of its personal property in the event of a loss.
No animals, birds, or pets of any descriptions shall be kept in or about the House without prior written consent from Owners, which consent may be withheld in Owner’s sole discretion.
Tenant has no right to Holdover. If Tenant does not surrender and vacate the House at the end of the Reserve Period, Tenant shall be a tenant at sufferance and the parties have agreed that the Rent shall be at the daily rate of $350.00
Tenant agrees to take full financial responsibility for any damage occurring at the House, including, without limitation, the actions and /or damage caused by an Occupants, invitees or Pets.
Tenant will not keep of have in the House any articles or items of a dangerous, flammable, or explosive nature that would increase the risk of fire on the House, or that might be considered hazardous material.
Tenant and Owner further understand and agree that:
There will be no smoking allowed inside the House at any time.
Tenant will take reasonable care to conserve utilities.
Sewer blockages caused by improper things being put down the drains during Tenant’s stay will be repaired at Tenant’s expense.
Tenant and Occupants will not annoy neighbors by making a nuisance.
With respect to the beach, certain unforeseen occurrences are inherent with the geographic location of the House, including, but not limited to, those that arise from weather, tides and/or sea life. It is the Tenant’s and Occupants responsibility to follow all local rules, regulations and ordinances of the beach and local venues.

Everything was as described and just perfect in every way! We loved our stay and didn't want to leave. It's such a beautiful location, an easy walk to some beautiful beaches and also to some really cool places in town. I loved having the extras available for our use like the skimboards, surfboards, guitar, etc. It's the little things that makes this the perfect cozy little place to stay.
The house was cute and in the perfect location. It could have been cleaner but all in all it was a pleasant stay :)
Arriving at the hideaway we were pleasantly surprised to see a very clean home with clean beds towels shampoos and everything you need at the place. Dora was very responsive and quick to set us up and we appreciated that.The neighbors were very friendly and we even got treated to live music one night from a group of neighbors. The beach was a block away from the house and was down a long staircase off the side of a large cliff. The view off the cliff and walkway along the cliff was beautiful. The place is very close to 41st St. which has many options for dining and shopping. The place is a quick 10 to 15 minute drive from Santa Cruz Beach boardwalk. We would recommend this to any couple or small family that's looking for hideaway with a short walk to Cliff views of the ocean.

My family and I had a great weekend. The Hideaway was a perfect location for us. Just a short walk to the beach with a lot of great restaurants to choose from. The neighborhood was peaceful and quiet with very nice neighbors. It is a great getaway and I would highly recommend it to friends and family. The host was wonderful about providing us with information about the house and local attractions.
My family of five adults were all so happy with this location. We enjoyed walks and bike rides along cliff drive. Walking distance to surf shops, restaurants and a new brewery. It was a great vacation!
About the Host, Dore
Longtime California residents working in the music and natural foods fields, we love having a space so close to the water. As a professional musician I'm in several groups playing several styles, my wife is a nutritionist and loves to learn. When we're at the hideaway we spend alot of time outside hiking biking swimming surfing eating etc. We've spent a goodly amount of time in the tropics especially the Caribbean, this is as close as we can get to that here on the mainland!
