The casita del Sol is a small chalet situated in a 5 hectare property; La Cima del Mundo, at 1 300 m of height, at the heart of more than 200 hectares of private reserves.
The chalet consists of 2 double rooms, a bathroom, a completely equipped kitchen, a lounge with fireplace, a covered terrace, a private garden, a parking area.
We knew how to make of this casita a warm place, just like the welcome that we take pleasure to offer to our hosts.
A lot of activities are possible in the valley, such as gone hiking, trek at more than 3800 m, hikes, waterfalls, swimming pools of hot waters, fishing, ride, paragliding, bathing in river, visits of farm producers of delicious cheeses, coffee, etc. All these activities are between 5 and 8 km of our place.
Our property offers a beautiful wide and relatively flat path about 4 km in the forest.
You will be in perfect communion with the nature, and will meet peace and serenity in this garden of Eden. You could appreciate a fantastic view over all the mountains, and amazing sunsets.

Three of us (mum + two young adults ) stayed here. We all loved it. Took Swin's advice and bought all food supplies with us (SJ market and Maxiplus in San Isidore) and enjoyed cooking in the very well equipped kitchen (including small freezer box). Drive from SJ easy, on good roads. Our Suziki Jimny hire 4WD was perfect for track to cabin and to Cloudbridge reserve (peaceful walk, waterfalls and nearby cafes on the way). I had never driven 4wd before but I am a confident driver. It's worth the 'exhilarating' drive. Swin and her young family very welcoming, do take up her offer of a stroll in her amazing gardens. Spent a lot of time sitting on the terrace, often with Swin's friendly dog, with close up views of Hummingbirds and Tanegers, and further away large carrion birds riding the thermals in the valley between this house and the mountains in the distance. We enjoyed the goat and cow cheese we bought at Swin's recommendation. Climate was hot but not humid and plenty of shade, cooler at night so no problems sleeping. A few bitey insects (as to be expected), praying mantis and crickets which try to creep inside and only one alarming spider (which was as scared of me I'm sure). Swin is a speedy and helpful communicator via message board. She is very graciously tri-lingual but if you have some french or spanish I am sure she would appreciate that. Good phone signal but internet rather intermittent so don't rely on it for entertainment.
Loved to be at Swins and Jedy's place, Very welcoming and sweet. Higly recomend this place to get out of the city for a relaxing weekend. The house is lovely and the flowers are just magic... Amazing Place, pictures won't speak the truth... It's just a magical place!
Great place to stay. Very clean and comfortable with all the kitchen amenities you will need. The road in is bumpy and steep and goes through small towns and beautiful scenery. We accessed the Cloudbridge Nature Reserve and Los Cusingos Bird Sanctuary very easily from this location. There is a walking trail at the cabin. The nights were quiet and the sky full of stars. Beautiful vistas into the Chirripo Valley. The hosts were very helpful with information on what to do in the area. We would definitely return!
Swin's guest home was one of the most unique places I've ever stayed in my life. While it was certainly not the easiest place to reach (make sure you have a 4x4 or are in good enough shape to hike 2 km uphill), the journey was completely worth it. Aside from the incredible views, the house itself is very well constructed and has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. I was able to cook my meals and enjoy the absolute tranquility offered by a the quiet home in the mountains.
Additionally, Swin was very helpful in providing instructions about the best way to navigate the area and how to arrive prepared. She took great care of me as a guest and was also very good about communicating before my arrival.
I highly recommend Swin's property if you are looking to visit the Chirripo valley region and have plans to hike the areas surrounding Cerro Chirripo.
Definitely stay at this place it is amazing! You are in the clouds and the surrounding area will take your breath away. I had trouble walking more than 3 steps at a time because I could not stop taking pictures; pictures of the environment and the property. The house you will be staying in is very clean and organized. Swin and her family are courteous, helpful and sweet! There is a beautiful hike just steps from your door way!
This place feeds every sense and is beyond relaxing!!! The sounds, smells, sights and everything else are fantastic!!!!!!!!!! The town of Chirripo is absolutely breathtaking and stunning!
It has easily become one of my favorite destinations and I have traveled extensively. By far the best stay I had in Costa Rica!!!!
The pictures do not do this place justice--it must be experienced in person!
