Our welcome was fantastic.
We got lost on the final stage of our drive to the home and Patricia came to meet us and led us along the final winding paths.
Once there, Patricia and her husband, Fabrizio treated us, (unexpectedly), to food, canapes and wine.
It was the perfect way to be received after our drive from Rome airport.
The place itself is a stunning converted farmhouse / stable in the most unbelievable setting in the hills. The property is brilliantly appointed, from kitchen, gaming and soft furnishing equipment, there wasn't anything lacking.
It even has internet, though there's a trick (and a certain spot) to getting the best use from that.
Though you don't need it here, as the peace, quiet, swimming pool and wine cellar are enough to entertain.
The wine cellar in particular was a cracking addition. The wines, all local, are chosen (very well) by Fabrizio himself. They are not marked up in price - in fact they were cheaper than when we tried to buy the at source! - and it was an honesty tab of writing down what you drank. We pretty much cleaned them out!
Our trip was four adults and four kids, with an additional visit from 2 further adults. There was plenty of space for all.
The games and toys for the kids were great - if only they had built a min-playground in the grounds, it would have been unbelievable.
We really have no complaint.
We stayed mostly at the house, but also made day trips to Spello, Montefalco, Todi and some Vineyards. (all stunning). And we regularly drove 5mins to the local town, Massa Martana for everyday bits & bobs.
I'd recommend this place to anyone and it's the kind of place you could come to year on year.
Patricia and Fabrizio (and indeed their Italian via Yorkshire son, Luca) are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They even came back for an evening and treated us all to home made pizzas from their outdoor pizza oven.
We could not have asked for more.
The kids and the adults did not want to leave.
A great 2 weeks spent.
We have just returned home from what was truly an idillic stay at Casale del Gallo. Whatever I say won't quite do it justice. The owners have managed to preserve the authenticity and character of the farmhouse, while offering all the amenities and comforts you need. The place is even better than the pictures!! We were 4 couples and 2 kids and Patrizia was so sweet and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed and going the extra mile to make our stay more enjoyable. We will certainly be back!!
Patrizia and her son are really friendly and welcoming people and they did their best to answer all our questions, enquiries and wishes before and during our stay. The house is as in the pictures, except of the amenities, which are even richer than described. The view is amazing and the surroundings very peaceful. We also very much enjoyed the surrounding forests soundscape performed by the birds.
The villa was magnificent. We enjoyed our trip immensely and Patrizia was the most generous host.
We stayed at Casale del Gallo in early July 2014. Fabrizio and Patrizia were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to make us feel welcome when we arrived. The house is beautiful inside and out, and even too much room for our family of 5. Sitting on 5 hectares and beside a national park, there is loads of great walking and the area has countless vineyards (including the well known Arnoldo Caprai. Of all the places we stayed in Europe this is the house we enjoyed the most.
Beautiful refurbished old farmhouse, with great views, outdoor space and interior design. Patrizia and Fabrizio and very hospitable hosts and lovely people !
Casale del Gallo is a dream place. I traveled all around the world, but this is "a" magic place in the planet you will ever have the chance to be. It's much better than it looks in the pictures, there are so many details and fantastic furniture in this house with such a good taste perfectly put together that you feel excited to walk into this house, you can't believe is possible such a majestic combination of nature, architecture, furniture and commodities. The view it's awesome! The house is fully equipped with anything you can think of. If you need to throw a party this place is perfect. On top Patrizia and Fabrizio are fantastic people with great energy, they make us feel as if the house was ours. Definitely not the last time!
