At the center of Amsterdam's hottest neigborhood 'De Pijp' my place is an oasis in a quiet street where you can relax after a day in the city. Rijksmuseum 5 min, trams -Albert Cuyp market- park 1 min, huge variety in shops/restaurants/cafés.

The space

This apartment lies on the second floor of a building in a nice and quiet street in the middle of the dynamic 'de Pijp' district. A great place if you prefer a cozy atmosphere and room to move rather than 'high end' luxury. No tv or microwave and the bathroom is really basic. Wifi works well and there is space and quietness for 1 or 2 persons that would like to stay here for a few days or more. You can feel at home after a busy day in the vibrant city. You can even sleep with the windows open, to hear birds sing in the morning!

Guest access

You can use the whole apartment. In the kitchen you find anything you need and just around the corner there are abundant possibilities to eat and drink.

Interaction with guests

Feel free to ask! I will gladly help you out in this city that I know so well.

Johanna's apartment is wonderful - bright and cheerful. The bed is extremely comfortable. It's centered in De Pijp and close to dozens of restaurants, outdoor cafes, wine bars, bakeries, shops. It's walking distance to other popular areas such as Jordaan. It's also walking distance to the Van Gogh and Rijks museums. The only obstacle (although not for me and my husband), there are two flights of narrow stairs to the apartment which could possibly be a challenge to some guests. Absolutely loved our stay there. Thank you Johanna.

Johanna is by far the best host we've ever had through airbnb. She met us when we arrived and walked us through everything we could possibly need to know about the apartment. She recommended in detail and wrote out for us places to eat in the neighborhood, what to see in Amsterdam, and even a bike rental nearby. She was also extremely communicative before our arrival and gave us thorough directions on how to get to the apartment from the airport. The pictures are very accurate, and the apartment is beautiful, very comfortable, and unique. The bathroom is indeed basic (the shower, toilet, and sink are all together and very close), but it didn't bother us. The neighborhood is unbeatable in my opinion, amazing shops and restaurants all around, away from the touristy center but close and easily accessible to anything you could want to do. Staying in this apartment in this neighborhood we really felt like we were living in Amsterdam during our visit.

My wife and I went to Amsterdam as part of our honeymoon (after 1.5 weeks in Italy). Johanna, was very welcoming and had many great suggestions for what to do. Her place is very clean and inviting. Even though it is a studio, the bedroom area and the dining/living room area feel separate making the place feel bigger than it is. Great value for the price. The place is in a trendy, up-and-coming neighborhood that is very central to anything worth seeing. If we didn't walk everywhere, we would take short tram rides to everything. Also, the daily outdoor market ~1-2 blocks away, the cute cafes and restaurants make this neighborhood really cool. Lastly, the neighborhood felt really safe.

We had an absolute wonderful time in Amsterdam and Johanna was the most gracious host. She took the time when we arrived to answer all questions we had about this amazing city. She provided great “insider/local” tips on what to do and when to do it, as well as supplied menus, cards, etc. for great places in the area. The apartment is a dream and a perfect place to stay if you’re looking forward to being close to everything. We took Johanna’s advice and rented bikes from a place nearby and used them throughout our stay. It was a great time. We did text a few questions during our stay and Johanna was quick to respond and assist. This is the perfect place to stay! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thanks for everything Johanna! Hope to see you in NYC sometime!

We had a wonderful experience at Johanna's apartment! From the communication before the trip to meeting us at the place and getting us oriented to the space to even meeting us on our way home, she consistently made us feel very welcome throughout the entire stay! She even asked us if we were warm enough after a very cold evening to see if we needed help setting up the space heaters. Overall, we felt extremely welcomed to make the space our true "home" base in Amsterdam. We especially liked the small fridge and appliances to have some snacks and breakfast in the morning, along with the washer-dryer to allow us to do some laundry before returning home! The location is amazing - there's a lot of little places to stop in to eat and walk around nearby that aren't so "touristy", but the access to Museumplein and the city center is extremely easy. We really felt that we lived in Amsterdam for these few days. Overall, we would love the opportunity to stay in Johanna's apartment in future journeys to Amsterdam. As has been echoed in other reviews, do be prepared to go up a steep flight of stairs, but we did make it with our 50 lb suitcase OK.

Johanna was an absolutely wonderful host, she greeted us on arrival and gave us tips for getting around and what to see in the neighborhood. This apartment is AMAZING! It is beautifully furnished and feels like an oasis in the busy city. I think we spent more time relaxing in the home than going out in Amsterdam. The apartment is in a fantastic neighborhood with easy access everywhere by bicycle or public transit. We highly recommend this listing!

Dag, I am Johanna. I am a teacher and a singer (pop/jazz). I love Amsterdam and in the 30 years that I live here I sorted out the cultural life of this city. Music, theatre, visual arts; there is so much to see and experience.
And it's so easy to go anywhere on a bicycle!
In my cozy house I can relax and unwind in my own atmosphere.
The basic things are important to me: healthy food, a good night sleep, do a little dance and have a good laugh.
I love to swim in the sea, walk on the beach and be outdoors.
But I also enjoy to live in the city and have contact with all kinds of people.
I am looking forward to share my apartment and welcome friendly people from all over the world.
