The Rain Forest Retreat was a perfect size for two of us and a great location to get all around the east side of Puerto Rico. Cheryl made sure we were well prepared for every adventure and gave us plenty of tips on what to do - perfect for two travelers who don't plan much in advance. Thank you Cheryl!
What a wonderful location and a wonderful host. We honestly couldn't ask for more. Beautiful scenery, a perfect balance of privacy yet access to information and help at all times, amazing plantain bread, and a great deal in general. As a first timer to Airbnb, I have a feeling the bar was just set incredibly high. Thanks again Cheryl, it was perfect. 100% recommend it to anyone interested.

Skip and Cheryl are wonderful hosts. The directions are spot on and the location is beautiful. Lots of good information about the area in the little book that they leave in the room for your use. It is a bit far from the entrance to the "main" part of the park but not an issue if you have a car or if the park is opened back up for access via the south entrance.
The apt is adorable. Has a little 2 burner hot plate, full size fridge (remember to make your own ice with the trays provided), microwave and coffee maker. Basic kitchen supplies make it easy to whip up a snack or meal. Bottled water is provided.
Bedroom is nice as well, bed is relatively comfortable and linens are clean.
Bathroom is well appointed and they even have shampoo, conditioner and body wash in there for your use. I will note (not sure if I missed this somewhere) that there is no proper door on the bathroom, only a shower curtain. So if you are not close with your traveling companions this could be awkward. It helped my fiance and I cross a line in our relationship that we had been avoiding lol.
Through absolutely no fault of the hosts, we only ended up staying one night instead of the planned 2 (website hidden) in June is H O T and somehow I missed that the apt does NOT have AC, completely my fault. I am not at all accustomed to the heat and having asthma it was too much for me to be comfortable. I am sure in the cooler winter months it is perfectly fine and comfortable as the fans are pretty large and move air well, but if it is hot air then they are not much help. So just note the temps and humidity level if you are sensitive to heat before booking.
Over all I would stay there again if it were cooler. It truly is a nice place in a beautiful location. Oh, bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper, the frogs are amazingly loud but awesome!
Great place near the southern entrance of El Yunge National Forest. Cheryl and Skip were very welcoming hosts and made sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed the guidebook they assembled for things to do in the area as well. Definitely off of the beaten path, but that's what we were looking for.
My husband and I had such a wonderful experience staying with Skip and Cheryl. They were so accommodating and had way more to offer than they advertise...their listing is humble but we couldn't have asked for a better place to be. I absolutely loved their beautiful garden and it was nice to cook up some extra fresh ingredients! Beautiful place with wonderful hosts. We would definitely stay here again if we're back in Puerto Rico. Thanks Skip and Cheryl!
We LOVED our stay at the rain forest retreat. From the minute we arrived until the moment we left, we felt like we were in a paradise. The apartment is clean and cute, nice to have kitchen (and Skip and Cheryl's garden where they had some ripe vegetables they invited us to eat!) to cook. We ate breakfast on the back patio overlooking the rain forest (with delicious Puerto Rican coffee, provided by host) and took a swim in their lovely pool most afternoons after gorgeous hikes in El Yunque Rain Forest. The book Cheryl has put together of maps, info about rain forest, local restaurants, and more is the best I've ever seen at an airbnb. Skip and Cheryl were so kind when we interacted with them and we felt so welcome. Would love to come here again and stay longer!
