We are a married couple who work and love living in DC. We share our home with our friendly, goofy, well-mannered Standard Poodle (large dog). We'd be pleased to offer advice/suggestions on where to go, what to see and what's currently going on.
1) Complete your profile information and include a clear, recent photograph of yourself. Please look elsewhere if this makes you uncomfortable.
2) Tell us about yourself and your stay needs and expectations--what brings you to DC, your background, work, etc.
3) Be advised that we may ask to see and copy your ID or passport when you check in.
4) NO SMOKING allowed.
We may ask to see and copy your ID or passport.
Completely close the front glass door after you come in or leave the house.
Lock the top, round, front door lock when you are in for the evening.
No people-food for our dog, no matter how cute he looks.
NO SMOKING allowed. If smoking outside, move at least 25 feet/8 meters away from the house, and throw your (unlit) cigarette butts in a trash can.
Helen and Journey (and the dog!) are great hosts. They have contacted me in advance to provide me with excellent information about the place and how to get there, as well as about Washington DC more general. When I got to their place, they had books, maps and a lot of useful and accessible information to use, as well as Metro Card in case I need. Helen and Journey are very welcoming, relaxed and fun to have a conversation with. While I stayed there, they always looked to see whether I need anything and gave me excellent tips on where to go (e.g. try Bistro Cafe' if you really want European style coffee).
The room is excellent and has everything one can expect and beyond, and yet in a very homish fashion. The place is located not too far from central DC and I walked almost anywhere I needed to including the Mall, government and business areas. There are also several buses and a Metro station close by.
All in all, this is an excellent place, with lovely atmosphere and wonderful hosts.
I had a great mid-week stay with Helen and Journey. The communication and responses while booking and just before my arrival were fantastic, detailed and prompt. The room with en suite bathroom was great - private with plenty of space to spread out and work. I didn't get a chance to dine in the neighborhood while there. However, it's proximity to the Metro station and several bus lines was ideal. It was also very convenient that breakfast is provided. The space was just as described, sunny and very clean. All my interactions with Helen and Journey were great. I felt extremely welcome in their home and like they had anticipated my every need. Great location, room, neighborhood, and hosts!
Helen, Journey and Olyox are a warm and wonderful family. Their home reflects this. It really did feel like I was staying with friends. They also are some of the most organized hosts I've stayed with: easy-to-follow entry instructions; printed details for wifi, parking, area restaurants and things to do; cables and wires for computer-hookup and monitors; etc. The suite itself is super clean and well appointed. The bathtub is a deep jacuzzi style tub. Heaven. I can't say enough good things. I look forward to my return :)
My staying here was very good. The room and the bathroom are very nice. Helen & Journey are very polite and they make yourself at home.
Helen & Journey were great, friendly hosts! The location is fantastic for DC and the room + en suite was fantastic. I definitely recommend these guys if you're ever in DC!
Helen and Journey are excellent host, since the first day you will know that they have experience cause everything was clear, simple and organized. My expectation were satisfied since the first hour, the room and especially the bed is excellent. The neighborhood is good because it's super close to the different attractions in Washington, you can walk, take the bus or metro. Pura Vida!!! from Costa Rica
Helen and Journey's place was wonderful - I was in DC for a conference so I had very long, busy days and wasn't at home much. I only met Journey (and their adorable dog!) and he made me feel welcome.
The room was an extremely comfortable place to come back to after being out and about. Helen and Journey provide breakfast as well as snacks in the room itself, guides for what to do in DC, and even lend a metro card for getting around the city. The private bathroom and amenities make this an ideal place to relax. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone coming to DC for the first time (as I was).
