This charming unique studio is located on the third floor in a 19th century renovated townhouse above an art gallery in the heart of Brussels art and chocolate district : The Grand Sablon. The studio has high ceilings, a marble fireplace mantle, a small modern equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a shower and a living room/bedroom with closets and a small office space. The big windows make the apartment very bright and give to a balcony on the street side with a side view on the Grand Sablon. The apartment has been decorated by art and antique dealers and is perfect for those who like to travel in style and luxury.
Breakfast and dining
In your apartment you will find free coffee and tea but we do not serve breakfast. There are several bakeries and stores nearby, so you can prepare your own breakfast in the apartment if you like. The Sablon area is known for good eating and here are several places in the neighborhood where you can discover more exciting choices than coffee and bread. There is the famous bakery the Pain Quotidien which is on the Grand Sablon and is great for farm style home made rolls and breads, though pricy. There is Snack Aimée which is one of our favorites and it is just around the corner at the end of Rollebeek street (one of Brussels oldest street dating back to 1564 ). Here you'll find delicious homemade fruit tarts and wonderful hero sandwiches, soups and salads all very reasonable priced. Of course you should try the croissants and pastries at Wittamer, delicious and very pricy. If you like sampling some of Belgium’s goodies, then the Grand Sablon have some of the best gourmet shops in the world - like chocolatiers Pierre Marcolini, Whittamer, Neuhaus and Godiva. Not to mention some of the best dining in Europe - Les Brigittines (by far our favorite), Le Cap Sablon, Sol, Au Vieux Saint Martin, Lola, Comme Chez Soi are nearby.
The Sablon is in the center of town in the old city. You’re a five minute walk from the Grand’Place. The Sunday antique market is outside your front door. A few minutes walk away is the daily flea market (marché aux puces) or the exuberant Sunday South Market (food and clothes) at the South (Midi/Zuid) Station
For those who like museums : the Fine Art museum, the Erotic Museum, the Magritte Museum, the Music Instrument museum, the Comic Strip museum and the Horta house are all around the corner in walking distance.
As for shopping, you’re close to over 100 art and antique galleries, Avenue Louise, and Rue Dansaert, Brussels’ fashion street. There is a supermarket on the Grand Sablon, so food shopping is easy.
Ideal for those who like a romantic weekend in the luxury of a 19th century Hotel de Maitre. Only few steps away from the gay neighborhood.
Parking and public transport
Apart from parking in the street (pay meters) there is the Albertine parking only 50 meters away. (This apartment is located so central you won't really need your car). The nearest Metro (Central Station) is a seven minute walk. Basically every attraction is in walking distant. The apartment is approx 7 minutes walking from Central Station. There is the Airport Express Train every 20 minutes from the airport to Central Station. (fare 7,60 euro single). There is a bus stop in the street approx 30 mtr. away.
Other Things to Note
***NORMAL CHECK IN is from 13 till 19 hrs.
***LATE CHECK IN before 23 hrs is possible with a little extra fee of 15 euro. If you need to check in after 23 hrs, the fee is 45 euro. This fee is asked as a small contribution towards the metro and/or taxi our housekeeper has to take to come from her home, leave her family and social activities outside her working hours and come and meet you at your convenience. It is to be paid directly to her in cash.
*** EARLY CHECK IN before 13 hrs is possible if there are no guests leaving the same day.
***NORMAL CHECK OUT is before 10 o'clock.
*** EARLY CHECK OUT is no problem and can be arranged with the housekeeper.
***LATE CHECK OUT no later than 14 hrs is only possible if there are no other guests coming in the same day into the apartment. However, you can always leave your luggage in the laundry room if we need to prepare the apartment for other guests.
IMPORTANT NOTES AND FAQ :
*** The apartment is named after a famous Belgian sculptor, Constantin MEUNIER. Please mention this name in EVERY conversation with me.
*** The studio is on the front of the house, so there might be some noise from the streetside.
*** The apartment is on the third floor of the house and there is no elevator
*** There is a washer and dryer in the house accessible to all the tenants and free of charge. Bring/buy your own products.
*** I have written an extensive GUIDEBOOK with reviews of all our favorite shops, museums, bars, restaurants, groceries, taxi stops, etc. There will be a printed version at your disposal in the apartment. It will help you to get around in the neighborhood and Brussels. On demand I can send you a copy of it by email before your arrival so you can prepare your stay better.
*** There is WIFI internet connection included in the price.
*** NO pets, NO smoking, NO parties.
*** No third party allowed in the apartment without prior notice and consent.
*** There is NO air-conditioning in the apartment.
*** Also available for long term rentals, ask for special rates and conditions.
*** We prefer to communicate in English or Dutch, but if you like you can write to us in Flemish, Dutch, English, Italian, French and German.

*** The apartment is NOT a PARTY apartment. We ask our guest to respect the tranquility of the other inhabitants. If you disrespecting this we will ask you to leave immediately without refund.
*** You are renting a private apartment, NOT a hotel room, so daily cleaning and breakfast are NOT included in the price. However our housekeeper is available for you and is charged at an hourly rate.
*** When leaving the apartment we expect you to leave it in a properly state. Any damage or extra cleaning will be deducted from your guarantee.
*** We use eco-friendly products for cleaning and washing.

Everything with Trente's property was expected and in many ways exceeded expectations. The studio was much more spacious and comfortable thank the pictures suggest. I am an academic and I had two conferences in Europe with about 10 days in between. I was looking for a place with character, lots of natural light, and a central location to use a private writing retreat. The studio hit all the criterion with high marks!!! It was one of the most productive weeks I've had in a long time. I noticed that some reviewers complained that the experience was impersonal, but I disagree. Ludmila, who checked me in, was excellent and warm (also, her cleaning is superb, because the bathroom was cleaner than the majority of hotels I've used)!! I wasn't looking for a homestay experience since I have a independent, introverted personality; so, this was worked very well form me. If you need a place in Brussels, book this now!

I had a marvellous stay in this small apartment or large studio. It is perfectly situated in the historical centre and close to the central station, and the European neighbourhood. The place is well equipped with all amenities. I arrived late though local staff was most helpful and waited for me to hand over the keys and explain the essentials. Most grateful for that. Communication over whatsapp and e-mail was most fluent.
Only possible downside is the noise of traffic in the street though I did not find it a real nuisance. Also the apartment is in a typical Brussels house of a century ago or so and noise of neighbours is inevitable. Luckily for me, neighbours were quiet people, and I did not encounter any nuisance from across the hall.
This Airbnb was not like most that we have been to. There was no personal touch from the owners (we didn't even meet them), besides a booklet with suggestions, that in our opinion was not helpful. Ludmila the housekeeper was kind, but was rushing to get to the other people checking in for the Airbnb at the same time. The good things about this listing being the location and price. The location is ideal and the price very fair.
We did however get locked-in, and were woken by another person staying in the Airbnb ringing our door buzzer over and over at 6:00am until we finally responded. We went down to let them in to then find out he was locked out and we were locked in (the lock had stopped working). We were unable to leave the apartment until 9:30am. And thankfully we ran into the technician when he was leaving so he could give us the new key or we would have been locked out once we found out the locks were changed and no one contacted us. We received no apology or correspondence for how this affected our trip.
There seemed to be a lot of rules regarding the stay, which was fine, just made it feel impersonal and more like a hotel than an Airbnb experience. Also, the street is very loud. If you need silence to sleep don't have the window open...no A/C so summer months are going to get hot.
Nice, quiet place, fit my needs ideally as regards location, the 3rd floor climb was a bit of a pain, not ideal if you have a disability. sorting the partially blocked drainage in the shower would be great. Overall very decent for the price.
We only stayed at Trente's flat for 2 nights but we wish it was longer! The apartment is situated right next to one of the loveliest squares in brussels, surrounded by amazing restaurants. Also it is located just in between the touristic areas and the hip ones, so if you want to see both its absolutely perfect. Inside the flat is full bright and a very comfortable bed. We could not get the meet Trente but Ludmilla is very helpful with everything and very professional. Also, don't forget to ask Trente about the local guide she has, we followed that during our entire trip and had an amazing time through a local' s point of view.

I (Trente) am an African American-Canadian fashion designer, model and writer and have lived and worked in New York, Paris,Tokyo, Karachi and Montreal before coming Brussels almost 20 years ago.
