About this listing
B&B w/Queen memory foam bed, AT&T's highest speed WiFi, Apple TV, & pool. Located inside the loop, close to Tx Med Ctr, the Museum Dist, RiceU, Galleria, & Downtown. Five blocks to 18 restaurants, Whole Foods, Starbucks, & lots more.
Adjustable, subdued, subtle lighting makes this a relaxing environment to unwind after a busy day. The room is full of plants, original artwork, collectibles, and lots travel books.
This room has been furnished and organized with you, the traveler in mind. I took from my past travel experiences and made sure that this space is not only beautiful, clean, and comfortable, but that it has everything you need to have a relaxing and hassle free place to stay while visiting Houston.
First and most importantly, you've got a great bed equipped with a Queen size MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS that sleeps two very comfortably, and there's freshly laundered 100% cotton bed & bath linen, including bath robes. You've got several choices of pillows including memory foam, feather, wool, and regular foam. There's also a three speed ceiling fan, new central air & heat, a new HD flat screen TV with Apple TV, Netflix, HBO Now, Showtime, and AT&T's fastest high speed WiFi. (No cable)
I've found that most of my guests prefer to "live out of their suitcase or backpack", so another really great feature in this room is a six foot long credenza that's just the right height to conveniently open your luggage, backpacks, and computer and leave them open on the top shelf, right where you need it, at waist level, not on the floor; or you can store unneeded items down below on the lower shelf. The credenza is also the perfect height to be used as a desk as well if you need to work, and there's a convenient surge protector with six electrical outlets.
If you've got something really nice you want to unpack, and let the wrinkles fall out, there's a closet with lots of hangers, an iron, a laundry bag, and a three drawer chest for folded things. There's also your own dedicated space in the shared bathroom to stow your toiletries right where you need them...the bathroom. There's an emergency dopp kit, in case you forgot something, or there's a CVS 24 hr pharmacy five blocks away.
There's also several convenient electrical outlets to charge your smart phone, notebook, or iPad... One on either side of the bed, and one by each sitting area, and a surge protector with six outlets at the end of the credenza. So there you go... All taken care of....Now you can relax.
Directly across the hall from your bedroom is a newly remodeled SHARED bathroom, with lots of fresh clean towels and complimentary body wash and shampoo.
The second B in airbnb stands for BREAKFAST, and I provide a self serve continental style breakfast of hot or cold cereal, fresh fruit, milk ( 2%, Soy, Almond), orange juice, and several different choices of coffee and teas (filtered water). There's plenty of space in the frig for anything you might want to pick up for yourself if you have specific dietary needs.
Outside there's a beautiful green space with large Oak trees, lush foliage, and a SWIMMING POOL. Enjoy the peace and quiet, and if weather permits, take a dip in the pool. Lots of extra clean towels are provided. Also if you need to, there's a coin operated laundry on the premises. Wash your clothes while you're taking a dip!

Other Things to Note
If you have any questions, special needs, or requests, please contact me.
Two Socks, a very friendly cat that adopted me several years ago, hangs out here also; mostly outside. He takes care of all his business outside, so there's no kitty liter box smells.
Common sense applies and communication is the key. No one likes surprises, so let's talk about it. I don't smoke, but I have ashtrays and a nice deck out back for smoking.
Looking into your large, spacious bedroom from the entry, you'll notice the two sitting areas on either side, and a handy six foot long two level credenza to hold your bags, backpack, notebook, etc, and it's the perfect height for a work desk as well.
Dow greeted me and made sure that I was introduced to his space. Very warm and welcoming
I have stayed with Dow on several occasions and there is no doubt in my mind that this is THE place for me for my short visits to Houston! The accommodations are spotless and welcoming. Feeling at home is very easy to do with this Host! Dow goes miles above and beyond, he exceeds my expectations - and I appreciate that!
2nd trip to Houston with daughter who is attending a Summer Program at Rice Uni. Fantastic experience and feels like visiting an old friend. Quaint and quiet place . Highly recommended
This is my first time traveling to Houston, but somehow this Airbnb makes me feel so homy. It's definitely not only a comfortable accommodation but a cozy zone for you to make yourself and relax.
The host,Dow, is very nice and patient to answer all the questions. I was so impressed by his sweet notes in the bathroom and kitchen, they truly make my days better!
The house is lovely with a beautiful balcony full of plants. The house is incredibly tidy and clean with all kinds of supply. The healthy delicious breakfast is included but you also have some fruits and snack in your room. Make sure to take advantage of the tv and a whole shelf of books in the room, they offer some cool places to see in Houston.
I only have a whole day in this city this time, but I am sure that I will stay in this fabulous Airbnb when I come back to visit :)
I was supposed to spend the weekend at Dale's place, but due to a last-minute back injury, I had to cancel. Dale couldn't have been more understanding, and he was willing to refund both nights. I felt I should minimally pay for the first night, since he definitely lost that income. He was very appreciative of my offer and we settled "fairly" on the matter (I was refunded the money for the second night). Dow was a gentleman, caring and understanding...and I appreciated his professionalism (and Airbnb was very good about the whole situation as well).
Dow, firstly thank you for accepting my request to stay at your lovely home. Your responses have been prompt and you have left nothing to question. You have been patient and present, in the shadows. It's my first time this side of US and Houston, I messaged Dow once I landed and picked up my car from the airport, letting him know that I was on my way, hoping I did not get lost. Dow immediately replied welcoming me to Houston. Once I reached Dow's home he came out to greet me. He assisted with my bags and showed me to my room. He then showed me around the house, especially the kitchen. On the bed was a key to the front door and an A4 piece of paper with info, wifi code etc, along with a bowl of fresh fruit and water in the dresser. We then spent some time talking and he give me directions and assistance to the things I needed the same evening. I then went out. When I got back Dow was awake and we shared some of our stories for a bit. After this I slept in a bed fit for a princess. It was high,, waist length high and when I got in, it felt like getting into heaven. I slept and the next thing I realized it was 11am. Amazing. Then I woke up and went to the bathroom where I found a note from Dow telling me that he was out and to have a Lovely day. When I went to the kitchen I found another note "Make Yourself at Home". In the kitchen was a huge selection of teas and coffees, fresh butter and croissants. Dow told me I was to help myself to juice s, milk etc from the fridge. He opened the cupboards so I knew where everything was. During the day I message Dow letting him know my new Local number and he again wished me a wonderful day, and said I could come home anytime I wished, there was no curfew. I am here for 4nights and the little touches were just, aww, when I would come to my room the blinds to the room would be closed. This I felt extremely nice and added to that homely touch. There were several point that drew me to making a booking with Dow, one of course reviews and some of what Dow had written. I am so happy that my first Air BnB experience was with Dow @ Blue Bonnet. Such a lovely home with that authentic feel. Everything put together with time and soul. Blue Bonnet is nothing less than 5*. I could not have asked for anything more. I was left to my own devices knowing that Dow was only a phone call away. All the personal messages left on post-it notes just put a smile on my face. Many people prefer hotels but I must say been given a room in ones own home...
About the Host, Dow
I'm a Long-time Houston resident, easy going professional who enjoys playing host to friends, family, and airbnb travelers. I travel and host to hopefully grow, learn, explore, experience, and enjoy life, the amazing world we live in, and the unique people who fill it.
I'm single, semi retired, father of two; college educated, but world wise; easy going, but dependable. I enjoy iPhone photography, tinkering with furniture, messing around with my plants, swimming, going junking , architectural curiosity, and trying to eat and live healthier,
I've traveled a lot, and never tire of the exhilaration and excitement of visiting new places. I've visited in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Each place that I've been fortunate enough to visit has left an impression of one kind or another, and I've tried to incorporate those impressions into the overall experience of staying at my place, which basically just turns out to be good ol' Texas hospitality with a twang.
I have a great collection of modern art, folk art, primitives, mid century modern, art deco, depression era, and just interesting and unusual things I've found over the years. Throw in my green thumb, and you'll come up with my always evolving and changing interpretation of what I consider a cool place to live and hang out!
It's home for me, and I'll do my best to make it yours' while you're here.
I hope you'll enjoy it.
