B&B w/Queen memory foam bed, AT&T's highest speed WiFi, Apple TV, & pool. Located inside the loop, close to Tx Med Ctr, the Museum Dist, RiceU, Galleria, & Downtown. Five blocks to 18 restaurants, Whole Foods, Starbucks, & lots more.
Adjustable, subdued, subtle lighting makes this a relaxing environment to unwind after a busy day. The room is full of plants, original artwork, collectibles, and lots travel books.
This room has been furnished and organized with you, the traveler in mind. I took from my past travel experiences and made sure that this space is not only beautiful, clean, and comfortable, but that it has everything you need to have a relaxing and hassle free place to stay while visiting Houston.
First and most importantly, you've got a great bed equipped with a Queen size MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS that sleeps two very comfortably, and there's freshly laundered 100% cotton bed & bath linen, including bath robes. You've got several choices of pillows including memory foam, feather, wool, and regular foam. There's also a three speed ceiling fan, new central air & heat, a new HD flat screen TV with Apple TV, Netflix, and HBO Now (no cable), and AT&T's fastest high speed WiFi.
I've found that most of my guests prefer to "live out of their suitcase or backpack", so another really great feature in this room is a six foot long credenza that's just the right height to conveniently open your luggage, backpacks, and computer and leave them open on the top shelf, right where you need it, at waist level, not on the floor; or you can store unneeded items down below on the lower shelf. The credenza is also the perfect height to be used as a desk as well if you need to work, and there's a convenient surge protector with six electrical outlets.
If you've got something really nice you want to unpack, and let the wrinkles fall out, there's a closet with lots of hangers, an iron, a laundry bag, and a three drawer chest for folded things. There's also your own dedicated space in the shared bathroom to stow your toiletries right where you need them...the bathroom. There's an emergency dopp kit, in case you forgot something, or there's a CVS 24 hr pharmacy five blocks away.
There's also several convenient electrical outlets to charge your smart phone, notebook, or iPad... One on either side of the bed, and one by each sitting area, and a surge protector with six outlets at the end of the credenza. So there you go... All taken care of....Now you can relax.
Directly across the hall from your bedroom is a newly remodeled SHARED bathroom, with lots of fresh clean towels and complimentary body wash and shampoo.
The second B in airbnb stands for BREAKFAST, and I provide a self serve continental style breakfast of hot or cold cereal, fresh fruit, milk ( 2%, Soy, Almond), orange juice, and several different choices of coffee and teas (filtered water). There's plenty of space in the frig for anything you might want to pick up for yourself if you have specific dietary needs.
Outside there's a beautiful green space with large Oak trees, lush foliage, and a SWIMMING POOL. Enjoy the peace and quiet, and if weather permits, take a dip in the pool. Lots of extra clean towels are provided. Also if you need to, there's a coin operated laundry on the premises. Wash your clothes while you're taking a dip!

Two Socks, a very friendly cat that adopted me several years ago, hangs out here also; mostly outside. He takes care of all his business outside, so there's no kitty liter box smells.
Common sense applies and communication is the key. No one likes surprises, so let's talk about it. I don't smoke, but I have ashtrays and a nice deck out back for smoking.
Situated in a nice neighborhood, Dow's place is very decent with plenty of interesting trinkets around the house. He has a good mixture of various things from around the world (it's almost kind of like a little museum). Everything is organized, though, and I thought his place was clean and tidy.
Dow has a very friendly personality, and I didn't have any trouble feeling welcomed. He explained where everything was, and I didn't have a problem finding his place. He also has a very friendly cat named two socks.
I have absolutely no complaints- great stay!
Dow was a great host and his home, although small, was perfectly cozy and comfortable. Dow's motto is "make yourself at home," which is exactly how I felt. The bed is memory foam with a remarkable assortment of pillows, wherein I slept like I was in a cocoon. He has Apple TV with Netflix and HBO Now, and provides water and granola bars on the dresser. It is a homely cross between the Four Seasons and a small town Bed and Breakfast.
It was our second guest time at Dow's home and we felt like home! Just perfect.
Dow was very welcoming and inviting. As he say, His house, is your house. " Talking is what makes a stay, so pleasant. I enjoyed our non-business conversations and time together very much. We share our interest in plants. Dow also shared cutting of his plants.
The house is described as stated. Comfortable bed and room. Nice neighborhood. Dow offered a variety of breakfast items. Many different food places near by. Could not have ask for a nicer host and place.
Dow's place was awesome! It is situated in a beautiful neighborhood with unique, historic-looking houses, lots of tropical plants, and lots of birds. The house was adorably decorated and comfortable, the room and bed were great, the water pressure in the shower was out of this world, and we had no problems sharing the bathroom. Dow also provided some tasty cereal and other breakfast items, fruit, and bottled/filtered water, which was very much appreciated!
The host, Dow, made us feel very welcome and comfortable. He is very organized and gave us a sheet with all the practical info that we might need. The house is very clean and neat and also warm and cozy. He provides a lovely array of breakfast foods, (cereal, bread, jam, juice, fruit, teas, coffee) and many kitchen supplies to use. The bedroom was very comfortable.
The description of the home was very accurate and because he had many photos, we knew what it would look like.
The neighborhood is a lovely residential street, but very close to a busy commercial street with lots of useful businesses (such as Starbucks).
This was a great location for our needs and a nice change from a hotel. We have no hesitations in recommending this B and B as a very nice place to stay.
Great location and extremely friendly and very flexible with thorough accommodation and use of kitchen and fridge plus making one feels like at home right away.
Easy-going professional who enjoys playing host to friends, family, and airbnb travelers. I travel and host to hopefully grow, learn, explore, experience, and enjoy life, the amazing world we live in, and the unique people who fill it. I'm a Long-time Houston resident, and can provide tips on things to do and see in the area.
I'm single, semi retired, father of two; college educated, but world wise; easy going, but dependable. I enjoy iPhone photography, tinkering with furniture, messing around with my plants, swimming, going junking , architectural curiosity, and trying to eat and live healthier,
I've traveled a lot, and never tire of the exhilaration and excitement of visiting new places. I've visited in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Each place that I've been fortunate enough to visit has left an impression of one kind or another, and I've tried to incorporate those impressions into the overall experience of staying at my place, which basically just turns out to be good ol' Texas hospitality with a twang.
I have a great collection of modern art, folk art, primitives, mid century modern, art deco, depression era, and just interesting and unusual things I've found over the years. Throw in my green thumb, and you'll come up with my always evolving and changing interpretation of what I consider a cool place to live and hang out!
It's home for me, and I'll do my best to make it yours' while you're here.
I hope you'll enjoy it.
