Great for those seeking a getaway with a country vibe but centralized enough to reach the local town and attractions.
Our house is walking distance to Rosendale, a small eclectic town in the Hudson Valley 1.5 hours from New York City.
Our house is walking distance to the town of Rosendale, a small eclectic town in the Hudson Valley 1.5 hours from New York City.
A single family home, the house is about a 10 minute walk from the Main street area center of town but has the feeling of being deep in the woods as the back of the house faces out to private forest.
Get your good dose of small town life with deep green forest relaxation all around. Steps out the door connects to extensive path of established running, walking, and hiking trails on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail path.
Renters have the the whole house to themselves (sleeps 3).
There is one large attic bedroom with a queen size bed that sleeps two, and a smaller guest room on the second floor that has two single beds (one is a pop-up trundle bed).
The house is situated on three floors. Main floor has an open kitchen, dining area, propane woodstove, and cozy couch seating area and a small half bathroom.
Second floor is an open living room, skylighted office (the perfect place to work remotely with tree views out of every window and a door right out to the deck), guest bedroom, and full bathroom and the entrance off to the outside deck.
The converted attic serves as the second sleeping area. Please note, there is no door for the attic room it is at the top of an open staircase.
There is WIFI throughout the house including on the deck and basic cable tv.
What to do in the area:
The Town - Rosendale is a blink and you can miss it gem of a town. Famous for it's community owned independent movie theater, and annual pickle festival it's a quaint and quirky town with three restaurants, a bar, a bakery, cheese shop/ thrift store (we mentioned the town was quirky, right?), and a hotel.
Cycling- There is a bike rental shop right in town that rents bikes...do road bikes and travel along winding country roads or mountain bikes for the Rail trail off road network.
Swimming - A beautiful lake for swimming has reopened just up the road from us at Williams Lake A day pass is $10. Swimming holes, and mountain water falls to be found at Split Rock and other reserves belonging to the Mohonk Reserve network in the nearby town of New Paltz/ Gardiner.
Walking, Biking, Running - only a few minutes from the house there is access to the Rail Trail, and extensive path on the former train tracks that is now cleared for walkers, horseback riders, and cyclists.
Hiking & Rock climbing - 15 to 20 minutes by car to the extensive Mohonk Preserve and famous Shwangunk mountains for hiking, epic views, mountain biking, and bouldering/ climbing.
Pilates/ Yoga- We have a little pilates studio about one block from our house and a wonderful yoga studio in the nearby town of Stone Ridge.
We give a list of our favorite markets, shops, yoga studies, hikes, and actives and gladly research and recommend specific inquiries.

Bikes can be easily rented.
The town of Rosendale is 10 mins walking to the house.

This house is just gorgeous -- perfect decor, spotlessly clean -- and has everything you might need. Laura was a wonderful hostess. I love that the house is close enough to the main street of Rosendale to walk, but far enough away so that you feel like you're in the woods. Gorgeous views of the trestle and the fall foliage. We had a wonderful weekend!!
Laura and Rachel were great. Quick and thorough responses to all emails, super informed about the area. Laura even picked us up and dropped us off at the bus stop with no hesitation. The house is very cute and in great shape for being over 100 years old. It has a really unique layout and is very charming. Everything you need is in walking distance and Rosendale is a quirky little town worth checking out.
We loved our stay in Laura & Rachel's home. We particularly enjoyed heading to the area's many pick-your-own farms and coming home to cook/bake in their fully stocked kitchen. We had the pleasure of meeting Laura on the last day and would come back in a heart beat!
We had a nice, relaxing stay at Laura and Rachel's charming house. The three-floor layout feels expansive and comfortable, and the place is even nicer in person than pictured on the site. Laura was very responsive to questions, and the house had everything we needed. Rosendale's a pleasant town and we also enjoyed the proximity to New Paltz.
We had a wonderful stay at Laura and Rachel's Rosendale home. The house was comfortable and cozy. The highlight of our stay was waking up to a family of deer grazing on the hill outside the big bedroom picture window. Laura was a great host - we received many great local tips and she made us feel very welcome. The town of Rosendale is absolutely lovable - our favorite spots were the Rosendale cafe with their beautiful garden and vegetarian fare, and breakfast at The Big Cheese. We'll be coming back for more!
Laura & Rachel are LOVELY! They were very responsive while booking the house and attentive to any requests we had. They gave us a ton of information about Rosendale - where to shop, eat, have coffee, etc and the neighboring towns. The house was great and exactly as listed.
We highly recommend staying in there home if you are in the area.
Great host and great house. As advertised and much more.
For those in doubt this house is fully connected and has great facilities ( linens, utensils, etc...)
Lots of activities and fun places to visit right down the road in Rosendale and even more just a short drive away.
Follow Laura's tips about opening the windows to keep the place cool and you'll be fine. Two nice sized desks as well were a nice surprise as I had to some work to do while visiting.
Can't wait to stay here again.

We are a mother daughter team. We are passionate about the community we live in and love to enjoy all the richness of the Hudson valley like it's eco-agriculture, arts and culture, and beautiful nature.
