About this listing
Equi-distant from downtown Charlottesville and Shenandoah National Park, we offer a perfect balance of city and country. When you're not hiking or soaking up culture, rest easy in your suite with its king bed, overstuffed couch, and private bathroom!
Enjoy our cozy den-like guest room with its fireplace, books, king bed, and completely private bathroom with bath/shower. We're in a peaceful semi-rural neighborhood outside of Charlottesville: 10 minutes to UVA, 20 minutes to historic downtown, 20 minutes to Shenandoah National Park (to the west) or Monticello (to the east). There is no public transit to our neighborhood, but there is good taxi service. We have broadband internet that usually works fine for Netflix.
This is a great location for folks who like some green space. We're convenient not only to Charlottesville, but also to scenic western Albemarle County. Hikers, runners and cyclists are particularly fond of this part of the county.
We are early risers (7:00 AM), and though we're not loud you should expect some normal noise in the morning. Your room adjoins our kitchen and living area.
We don't offer meals, but you are welcome to use the kitchen for light food preparation, and we are open to discussing full kitchen use for guests who are staying more than 2 nights.
We have a dog, Maeve, who may bark when you first arrive. She switches quickly to wanting to be petted.
There are no nightstands by the bed, but there are lights on each side. The room has a writing nook, chest of drawers, and a coat rack on which you can hang your finery.
Our neighborhood is middle class, semi-rural, and quiet. Your room has views of a funky rustic house down the lane, lots of trees, and mountains.
We are friendly and welcoming, and will see that you have what you need for a comfortable and pleasurable stay. And we're busy with work and all the rest, so we won't be in your way!
Guest room, private bathroom, kitchen, dining area, yard.
Interaction with Guests
When we are at home we can offer suggestions about local amenities and services. We are also sometimes available by phone to assist guests.
Perfectly situated for visitors interested in both the mountains and the city . . . we're about equi-distant to each.
There is no public transit to our neighborhood, but there is good taxi service.
No partying, please. No smoking indoors. No candles. We are flexible and friendly, but we have full lives and cannot devote a great deal of time to our BnB guests beyond assuring their comfort and sharing our knowledge of the area. Light kitchen use is welcome. Our dining areas are comfortable, and in good weather you can eat out on our porch.
