About this listing
Owner occupied contemporary condo with small clean room (queen bed). Shared bathroom. Bright, modern kitchen with kitchen privileges. Laundry available in unit. Parking available in visitor spots or permit-free off-street.
Please be aware that although I am close to downtown Boston and Cambridge, I do not live in easy walking distance of train, and this is not a very tourist-oriented neighborhood. There are busses to the orange and red line trains, but they do not run often in the evening and weekends, so if you are relying solely on public transportation, you have to plan very carefully. See "Getting Around" for more specifics on transportation.

****Note that this is not a tourist-oriented neighborhood. It is not in walking distance of a train and none of the busses that service this area run frequently in the evenings or weekends. It is close to Boston, and some people without cars have been happy to take taxis or ride-sharing services from the train stations or downtown, as it is not very expensive to do so. However, if you are not one of those people, be aware that you would need to plan your transportation needs carefully and/or be prepared for long bus waits. If you are planning to come to town to attend a particular venue, feel free to contact me before booking for my opinion on how long it will take you to get there and back.***
Direct bus access to Boston during rush hours, otherwise a bus ride (101 or 134 bus) or drive to the orange line train with $5/day parking. Direct bus access to Cambridge/Harvard Square and University (not the medical/dental campus or business school campus), Somerville and red line 7 days a week (94 and 96 busses). A mile to Tufts university main campus (NOT the medical campus/dental/center) with two bus lines (94 and 96) providing direct service. Right off of highway 93. See the MBTA website for bus and train schedules. I am located near Medford Square and Riverside Avenue as references when looking at the bus schedules.
Other Things to Note
Note that the heat is a bit noisy in the bedroom (makes a ticking sound). To make up for this, I have lowered the price in the winter months. If you are a sound sleeper, and/or are willing to wear earplugs (which I'll provide), this is a great deal. The room also overlooks the highway, so there is some noise from there.
Please no smokers or recreational drug users, even outside of the unit. Social drinkers welcome.
One person only please for this small space with only one bathroom. Any requests for more than one person will be declined immediately.
You are welcome to use the washer and dryer between 7 am and 10 (website hidden) privileges.
I stayed at Daphna's place for two nights in order to attend a concert in Boston. Daphna was a great host. She was helpful and kind and made me feel very welcome at her place. Although it takes some time to get to downtown Boston and to other touristic areas, there are buses available near the apartment that facilitate transport. Daphna walked with me to the bus stops and explained everything to me to ensure I was well informed about the surroundings. She even offered to drive me to the drugstore in the evening when I needed to go. The neighborhood is quiet and I felt very safe there. Overall, I had a very pleasant stay at Daphna's place.
Great place with good access to Boston. Daphna was really nice and talking to her was good. I got really good tips about commuting to Boston and dinner places.
I would definitely come back.
Daphna is a very helpful and great host! On the first day i reached Boston she provided me a lot of useful information on public transportation. She even took me to the store to get some food, and show me where to get the bus and train. The house is just 3 mins walk to the nearest bus stand, and is very comfortable to stay. On the last day daphna took me to the airport as well. Without her i would have dragged my luggage waiting for the buses and train to the airport, which is definitely tiring for me. I really appreciate her help for that. If have chance to come Boston next time I will definitely stay here once again.
convenient for me
Daphna is a wonderful person and she was an amazing host. She is very welcoming and makes you feel at home right away! I moved from out of state and wasn't familiar with the area, so the first day she even took me around town and showed me where local shops were. The apartment is at a great location, just off the 93 freeway and at walking distance from stores, CVS and bus stops. The room is a very neat furnished with a queen size bed, closet, drawers, shelves, desk and a chair. She even has space in the kitchen if you want to cook plus there is in-unit washer and dryer. There is also off-street visitor parking spot available which is a big bonus point if you have a car. This is a great place to stay if you are moving to city and need a place to stay temporarily or just visiting Boston for a few days. It is a great furnished room with all the amenities, not to mention the very friendly host!
Daphna is very nice and helpful. She has taken time for me, was open for all questions and has given me useful tips. The room has an ideal size and a comfortable bed. I had a good time with Daphna.
It was a pleasure staying for a week at Daphna's house. She is very kind and helpful and will respond to all your questions very fast. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed, and the house is located in a safe and secure neighborhood. There's easy access to public transport, restaurants, shops and other amenities. I would definitely stay there again.
I would describe Daphna's place in three words: comfortable, quiet and convenient. Its was a nice room with a beautiful neighbourhood. The location is conveniently located near several bus stops. 94,95,96 buses going to tufts n Davis square and buses 101,136 to almost all famous shopping m grocery shops in Medford n somerville. Daphna was a very kind n welcoming host, she was out of the town on my check in date but she had a perfect arrangement for checking me in. She was very responsive on phone n email and she is a very nice and kind lady.
I specially liked the comfortable queen sized bed in my room and the soft pillows.
I would say a special thanks to Rhonda n her cute kid Jacob for checking me in in Daphna's absence.
