About this listing

The space

Cosy double bedroom in a flat within a traditional stone built house in the centre of Windermere.
The flat itself is very cosy and full of interesting furnishings and vintage finds as Margaret used to run an antique shop before retiring. She is a keen crafts person and expert rag rugger so there is always some new and interesting project to see and anyone wanting to have a go is very welcome.

The bedroom is a double bedroom at the top of the house and has antique furniture . The private bathroom for guests exclusive is immediatly outside the room and has a bath with overhead shower.
A continental breakfast will be provided either in the dining room area of the sitting room or, if preferred in the kitchen ar the rear of the property which is reached by wooden steps which lead to the balcony just outside.

The railway station is just a five minute walk and there are many buses which connect to many other Lake District beauty spots.
Windermere lake shore can be reached on foot in approx 20 minutes via a lovely footpath which avoids the main road and there is a short walk up to the Orrest Head view point from where there is a 360 degree view of the lake, the surrounding fells and even the sea on a clear day. And from here for the more adventurous there are extensive footpaths from which many fells, tarns and valleys can be reached.
Windermere town boasts some interesting small shops including a well stocked second hand bookshop, outdoor clothing shops, bakers, florists, tea shops and cafes as well as the famous Booths family run supermarket which stocks many local products.

Other things to note

The appartment is on the first floor , accessed via a wooden balcony. It is number 30a. It is 50yards down from W.H. Smiths stationers . Turn down the alleyway between two shops One is called No22 and the other is called Its in The Bag. Turn left to the wooden balcony at the end and up the wooden staircase .

Margaret's place is in a central location in Windermere. It is above a cafe in the centre of town. It is a five minute walk from the train station & bus terminus. It is surrounded by restaurants, pubs, tea shops & a range of great places to browse. It is the perfect place to be based for a holiday in the Lake District. Margaret is lovely, welcoming and friendly. Her home is delightful, the bedroom very comfortable and quite roomy the bathroom has the best shower!

Margaret is wonderful!!! She is so nice and gives us good suggestions around Windermere. The room is clean and cozy, exactly as described. It's just a 5 minute walk from Windermere station with lots of restaurants around. The breakfast she prepares is also really good! We would highly recommend staying at Margaret's place if you're visiting Windermere.

We had a great time staying at Margaret's place. The communication has been great. Margaret responded quickly to the messages. The room was clean and cozy. It has everything that we need. The location was perfect as it's only 5 minutes walk to Windermere station. Close to minimarkets and some eateries. The bedroom is located on the first floor, so there were some small steps to go to the room.

Margaret was a wonderful and very accommodating host and we would highly recommend staying here. The accommodation was perfect for what we wanted for a short stay in the Lake District, well located, nice clean room and bathroom, with a good shower, at a reasonable price. If you're driving there is also a little space off the main road right outside the house. This was great for us as we knew our car was safe spot and we wouldn't get a ticket if we slept in (which happened by accident as the bed was so comfortable!)
