Cosy double bedroom in a flat within a traditional stone built house in the centre of Windermere.
The flat itself is very cosy and full of interesting furnishings and vintage finds as Margaret used to run an antique shop before retiring. She is a keen crafts person and expert rag rugger so there is always some new and interesting project to see and anyone wanting to have a go is very welcome.
The bedroom is a double bedroom at the top of the house and has antique furniture . The private bathroom for guests exclusive is immediatly outside the room and has a bath with overhead shower.
A continental breakfast will be provided either in the dining room area of the sitting room or, if preferred in the kitchen ar the rear of the property which is reached by wooden steps which lead to the balcony just outside.
The railway station is just a five minute walk and there are many buses which connect to many other Lake District beauty spots.
Windermere lake shore can be reached on foot in approx 20 minutes via a lovely footpath which avoids the main road and there is a short walk up to the Orrest Head view point from where there is a 360 degree view of the lake, the surrounding fells and even the sea on a clear day. And from here for the more adventurous there are extensive footpaths from which many fells, tarns and valleys can be reached.
Windermere town boasts some interesting small shops including a well stocked second hand bookshop, outdoor clothing shops, bakers, florists, tea shops and cafes as well as the famous Booths family run supermarket which stocks many local products.
Comfortable room, friendly host, excellent location. We had a lovely time it was just a shame the weather wasn't better!
Excellent stay with Margaret made us feel at home in her delightful home. Great location in the centre of Windermere and was clean and comfortable, could have stayed all week!
We really had a great time in Lake District and Margaret is a friendly host who provided useful information;) I'll recommend this lovely accommodation to everyone!
We had a lovely two night stay at Margaret's home in Windermere, with breakfast included, making the stay great value. Margaret a lovely and attentive host and made us feel very welcome. The room is clean and spacious with beautiful furniture and a comfortable antique double bed. It was also great having our own bathroom. Location is right in the center of Windermere and perfect for shops, cafes, restaurants and the pubs and not far from the station for trains and and buses. We will definitely stay again next time we visit Windermere. Thank You Margaret!
The room was great! Lovely furnishings and Margaret is most gracious and pleasant. She went out of her way to be helpful. Margaret even drove my husband to a business appointment. if you are going to stay in the Lake District this is the place. Centrally located, within walking distance of the train station and right in the center of Windermere. This is a wonderful place to stay!
Wonderful host and a very pleasant stay! Margaret is a very lovely lady, she is very considerate through out our stay. Convenient location, cosy place and clean bathroom. One of my best sleep was at Maragaret's place.
Margaret is a gracious host and cooked breakfast each morning for us, for which we are thankful. The room is cozy and comfortable and the location on main street is very convenient. Wifi is free. She is helpful with information and was kind enough to give us a lift to the railway station because of the bad weather. We do not hesitate to recommend her unit.
Margaret is a warm and and gracious host. Her home is beautiful and our room had many unique pieces of furniture from her days as an antique store owner. Breakfast was nice: granola and milk, toast and croissants with marmalade. She gave us some great restaurant recommendations: Francine's and the Thai Restaurant, as well as the names of good charity shops. Since I'm a bath person I loved her sparkling clean bathtub! My husband and I would recommend Margaret's place without reservation. We enjoyed hearing about her very interesting 3 grown children.
Margaret is a very helpful host and serves good breakfast too! Good location as it is nearby the train station, supermarket and some really good Thai and Chinese restaurants.
My friend and I have spent 3 days in the lake district, and Margaret's house was like a home, warm and lovely. She also provide us some useful information about the trip, thanks for that! I will highly recommend it.
