It's hard to believe that the tropical forest that is literally out the back door, is only walking distance from the city!
With lush rainforests, big rivers and the Great Barrier Reef just off the coast, Cairns is close to some of the most beautiful parts of the Great Barrier Reef.
This self-contained unit is under our Queenslander Blue House. It is a nice place to be while visiting Cairns because it is close to the city but with a very green, forest back garden.
Complete with your own kitchen, toilet and shower - this unit has air-conditioning, shared plunge pool, DVD player, and free wifi internet access. The laundry is shared. The unit is well equipped and best suited to a couple or family. The bathroom is quite small, and only has a curtain on the door so best for people that know each other well. The sofa bed is a click-clack style, double bed - but again probably best suited to one additional person. The kitchen is well stocked and includes a two burner electric stove and a small oven/grill. The bedroom has a queen sized bed. We also have various baby equipment available, including a porta-cot and high chair.
Our house is in a residential neighbourhood where you can walk to the city in about 20 minutes. We use bikes to get around as it is nice and flat with some great pathways. We like to live in an eco-friendly manner and our house is in a tropical forest setting. We keep the place neat and clean, but if you're chasing hotel-grade sterile surroundings, this unit may not suit you.
We are a really easy going, fun couple with a 3y/o son. We have been renting this unit for over 5 years to long-term tenants, and 1 year on AirBNB - so we are good at respecting your privacy, while being friendly and helpful. See the latest on visitors and find out more about the house at (website hidden) /cairnsbluehouse. If you want convenience and amenity with a friendly family atmosphere, this is the unit for you.
Host is very nice and accommodating. Outside the house had lots and lots of mosquitoes during the time we were there (feb), which were very annoying. You have to be careful to not let them inside. The couch in the kitchen / dining room sleeps an extra person. Room has A/C which we needed during the hot days we were there, but the machines are bit noisy, which made it a little tricky to sleep for me. Personally, next time I'd probably pay a bit extra for something a bit more comfortable, but it depends on your budget.
The location is great, very quiet away from the tourist area but yet a short bike ride away. The space was awesome, a nice bedroom with separate sleeping area in the lounge on the pull out couch, and your own kitchen so you can prepare your own meals. They offered us access to their bikes which we gladly accepted. They are a very nice accommodating family willing to chat and help us out with any plans or suggestions. I highly recommend them. Thanks for everything, Tania (and family). A very enjoyable stay in Cairns.
The room is large and Tania has much local knowledge about what to see, and which bush walks to go on.
We arrived late from train New Years Night, but they were waiting for us and a very warm greeting from all, all we wanted, not the Ritz, but really good, check out the restraunts with B.Y.O. and save a lot of money, but a great stay with great people, plus bonus, the built in worker "Chad"
All our love and best wishes.
Merve and Elaine Williams.
We enjoyed our stay at Rob and Tania's. The unit had everything we needed for our stay, it was clean and tidy and a good size for 2 people. Rob and Tania were very helpful, showing us places we could go to visit and even provided us with bikes for us to ride. Overall a very nice stay and good value for money.
Tania and Robert were very nice. The house was prepared as they were really waiting for their friends. We had a warm welcome and everything was made for us to be comfortable. The house is very clean with all amenities. Thanks!
We had a lovely visit with Tania & Rob's place this past November. Highlights were being able to use their bikes to check out the botanical gardens, city lagoon and cruise through town - all of which were recommendations of Rob's. We also adored the fresh mangoes they gave to us from the tree in the backyard - so yummy!
The room was comfortable (cool enough in the tropical heat), spacious, private and well-stocked with snacks and tea. If our travels take us back to Cairns, we will definitely be staying here again!
Didn't meet Tania but accommodation was made available and it worked well for the short time we were transiting through Cairns
My wife and I stayed with Tania's family for two nights in October 2013. We had a brilliant time and are grateful to them for being such thoughtful guests.
It was a lovely room in a great location with great facilities, with great hosts who went the extra mile for our comfort.
What a lovely B&B stay! Tania's unit is a large, well-maintained and self-contained unit with all the amenities of home. After our extensive travel in Australia, it was so relaxing to be in her home and the wonderful hospitality from her and her husband. Thanks again Tania & Rob for a wonderful stay in Cairns.
We hope to visit again!!
