About this listing
This home has belonged to my family since it was built in 1922. Our home is bright, comfortable, clean and spacious. There are hardwood floors throughout and lots of windows to let in fresh air and light. With a large living room, formal dining room, and a kitchen stocked by folks who love to cook, we find ourselves spending a lot of time in the front of the house. The backyard is accessed from the kitchen, and is equipped with a propane BBQ, table and chairs, and a wonderful play structure for the kids.
The master bedroom has a half-bath and a comfortable queen bed. The second bedroom is the kids' room and has two beds, one full and one twin. The playroom is accessed through the second bedroom and is stocked with toys sure to please young children of a variety of ages. The third bedroom is used as a home office, with high-speed internet access (wifi). The full bathroom has a shower over the tub and has been updated with period details.
We adore our home and neighborhood, and hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.
Interaction with Guests
We are always available by phone, text, and/or e-mail.
Our block is very quiet, neighborly, and family friendly. We are walking distance to the many shops and restaurants on Solano Avenue, as well as the Gourmet Ghetto (Chez Panisse, The Cheese Board, Cesar, Epicurious Garden, etc.). Public transportation is easily accessible and there is plenty of parking on the street and in the driveway. Tilden Regional Park is a short drive up the hill, and San Francisco is about 20 minutes away. There are endless options for cultural events, music events, Farmers' Markets, museums, galleries, hiking/biking, water activities, etc. If you let us know what you're interested in doing, we'd be more than happy to offer recommendations.
Our neighborhood is very walkable (83 out of 100 Walk Score), and there is a local bus and train system as well. While walking and biking are great options, we would recommend having a car to fully appreciate all that the area has to offer.
This property is strictly non-smoking, indoors and out. We do not allow pets during rental stays, though we do have a service dog and a cat - please let us know if allergies are a problem.
There are two couches which can be used for additional guests. Please inquire before booking if you will have more than 4 people in your party.
This is our full-time residence. We travel when our home is being rented by others. We love our home and hope that you'll enjoy it as much as we do, as well as treat it with the same respect that we do.
Home was perfect for a family visit to Berkeley. We walked to "gourmet ghetto" (Gorilla Coffee) every day. We were all comfortable in our own beds and our youngest loved caring for the host's outdoor cat! Very quiet and relaxing.
Staying in this Berkeley home was wonderful for my family. We were attending a wedding nearby and this was great especially for my children. The house was also very close to some great eating spots and easy to get to from the main highway. Amber was very responsive to my questions and provided all the information I requested. She made my first Airbnb experience stress-free.
My family had a wondeful stay at Amber's house. We have two children who were thrilled with all the really great toys and the spacious playroom. The outdoor space with the play structure was fun for them. The location was perfect for us. And Amber was very easy to work with - very responsive to our needs. A great experience overall Many thanks to Amber and her family for opening up their home to us.
We had a lovely time at Amber's place. The house is very well located and great for kids (fully childproofed and great toys). Amber was highly responsive to all our questions and concerns. Thanks!
This is a lovely home to stay in. It is very clean, comfortable and homey. Although we didn't use it much, the kitchen is very nice (small too) and has many things a cook would want. The neighborhood is a great place to walk and it is in a great location. Just a few blocks away is Solana street which has many nice restaurants and is a fun place to walk. There is a nice backyard to sit in and enjoy the evenings and sky. The owner was wonderful to work with. I will return to this place the next time I am in Berkeley.
I'm a Berkeley resident and booked Amber's home for my in-laws' visit to Berkeley, and I loved it. Not only did Amber respond to my request to book her home in a timely manner, but she was also easily reachable via phone and text with the few questions we had during my family's stay. We were greeted with a glass of wine upon arrival and plums from the yard, which were a lovely touch. The home itself was clean and cozy and in a fantastic neighborhood, exactly what my family was looking for. Great experience, highly recommend!
We rented Amber's lovely home for my parents who were helping out with my nephew. Her home was immaculate, very child and family friendly, and amber was a great host. Our first airing experience was great!
About the Host, Amber
Born and raised in Berkeley, California - absolutely love it here! I have a degree in social welfare and work as a Realtor at a small boutique office in Berkeley. I have two young children who are sweet, joyful and fun. We love traveling within a few hours of home for weekend getaways and longer getaways over school vacations. I am meticulous about my own home and always treat rentals with the same care and respect.
