About This Listing
My guests are staying at least 4 days now. I am open to changes as I have another Airbnb, for anyone wanting to extend their stay, this is now possible.
Bedroom in nice old house. Share bathroom w/ one other. $230/ week, private bedroom. Share living room, kitchen, house. Free internet.. You can walk/bike/bus anywhere. Restaurants, movies, bars, library, Powells Books! just few blocks away. Very quiet neighborhood. The best of Portland! Get a sample of the good life. Good life with just a single bed (room is for solo travelers) Sometimes one other guest will share bathroom, but lots of room. Hang out on front porch, or take in sun on back deck. You can expect it to be pretty quiet, pretty chill. Good house for sleeping. The neighborhood has small families, a few good kids, occasional basketball in the street. A block away is a New Seasons market with a breakfast buffet- $2.-$7. Also near a pub with seasonal brews, and 2-3 blocks from many other restaurants, bars, movie theatre, supermarket, banks, etc. Public transit (bus) is just around the corner. We are 10-15 minutes from downtown.
This is the most awesome neighborhood in Portland. Not overrun with hipsters, not overly gentrified, pleasantly diverse.. Is a super safe area. I have lived here for 20 years. It has not always been this way, but it is so perfect now. Come enjoy!!
Living room, kitchen and cooking tools and dishes, back deck, front porch.
I also have another airbnb room so if you need to stay longer than initial registered stay, this can be worked out!!
Interaction with Guests
Sometimes after initial overview, not much. I am really busy, and sometimes when at home I am upstairs resting/reading.
It is rated a 9 or 10 in the walkability scale. I can have a really fun day without being too far from home, and the car stays in the driveway.
Yes, one block away, #14 goes west to downtown ($2.50 bus fare), 10 minutes ride. Or take the #75 going north to Lloyd center or Hollywood district.
Other Things to Note
I have another airbnb room (often empty), so that I can arrange with guests if they want to extend their stay outside of reservation.
I own the house and I live upstairs ( with a bathroom). There is sometimes 1-2 others, but I prefer a total of 3 in the house counting me. There is room in the fridge for a temporary visitor (you). Smoking is outdoor only. The bed is for one only. I have a small dog upstairs who is fairly quiet and well behaved. See him in my photo.
Kit did a great job getting me oriented in Portland and was very helpful with any needs I had. The house is easy to get to on public transportation from downtown and the airport. The neighborhood is great - quiet and peaceful but with tons of good places to eat and go out and a huge grocery store a block away if you want to eat at home.
Kit's home is beautiful and I felt very welcome from the moment I arrived. There was a welcome note on the bedroom dresser along with a bunch of maps and local brochures, as well as a few thoughtful care items (natural sleep aid, advil, all wonderful things if you find yourself needing them). I wasn't around the house much, so I didn't see Kit very often but when I did she was very friendly and warm. The location was also fantastic, right in the middle of Hawthorne District, and a short bus ride to downtown. Thank you for a wonderful stay, Kit!
Great little house with warm hospitality by Kit. Location is good and safe.
I stayed for one month. It was a very comfortable house. There were various shops near house. (Restaurant, cafe, bookstore, supermarket, souvenir shop) It was so fun. I want to stay at kit's house if I to go to Portland again. Thank you kit & rocky!
Kit was a very welcoming host who more than accommodated my delayed arrival. The house is as pictured, and is a perfect base to explore not only the hawthorne area but Portland generally- kit was always friendly and had maps and other info which helped get around - I would definitely stay with kit again when back in Portland

About the Host, Kit
The house is a 1912 Bungalow, clean and peaceful, and you will get the best of Portland here. Walking distance to restaurants, shops, movies, Powells (on Hawthorne.) The neighborhood is super safe, and quiet. The house is quiet, but comfortable, as well. I've had a variety of different roomates over the years, but currently I just want to enjoy guests like yourself. (No roomates). The room is on the main floor, near a bathroom. I live upstairs and have my own bathroom. I come down to use the kitchen, and take my little dog outside. I work 3-4 days or eves a week (RN). My job is just a mile away. I'm pretty easy going, and I don't set out a breakfast, as New Seasons and Fred Meyer are a block away, but I share my Olive oil. You can smoke on the front porch if you like. I'm glad to go have a beer with you , or a cup of Joe if you like!
