This is for people who prefer the road less traveled. It is a huge 2 bedroom apartment in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn. It is literally half a block away from the N express train, which gets you to lower Manhattan in 25 min. It may seem far if you look at the map, but it's closer by train to lower Manhattan (where you probably want to hang out anyway) than Harlem or Park Slope, Brooklyn. If you are a group on a budget, you won't find a better deal.
The apartment has two large bedrooms, one of which has a full size bed and the other has two twins. The kitchen is quite large and has everything you need including gas stove, stove top italian style coffee maker, microwave, toaster, blender, pots and pans etc.
The neighborhood is very family oriented, safe, and full of kids running around. It's primarily blue collar Hispanic (mostly Mexican), so the best and cheapest Mexican food in the city is in abundance there. Also, 2 avenues away is Brooklyn Chinatown, which boasts a lively market and the most authentic and cheapest Chinese and Vietnamese food in the city. Park Slope is a few subway stops north and is fun to explore; tons of beautiful houses, shops, and restaurants.
I'm a musician and have moved to a smaller space so I've left my Fender Rhodes that you may (respectfully) play! I've also lived in the NYC for 7 years so I have intimate knowledge of the city, it's night life, and the music scene, especially jazz and roots music. I'm always happy to help with advice about NYC! Pete
PS- If you rent for 5 days or more I will waive the extra $ charged for weekends.
Our stay at Pete's house was very comfy. Heat was on point during winter storm. Definitely was very cozy and warm. It's near a lot of shops and restaurants. Pretty safe neighborhood from what it seemed like. We spent about 3 weeks in his apartment, so we kinda for a feel for what it really was like staying there. It takes a good few mins for hot water to come through. Tap water though was delicious! Pete said it was straight from Canada. Since we stayed there soo long we used the internet often and wifi wasn't very good, kept disconnecting at least once a day. Floors weren't really safe. We all at least got one splinter while staying there (including my 3 and 5 year old) so bring house shoes. Aside from those minor things everything was great. Pete always responded immediately to us when we had a problem. Thank you Pete again for letting us stay there! God bless!
Review before this.
We had a great time staying at Peter's apartment. It is very spacious and immediately felt like home. He went out of his way to accommodate us. When a friend's and my flight were cancelled during the recent snowstorm, he was so kind to let us stay an additional two days for a reduced price. The contact with him was always very friendly and immediate. I highly recommend this place. It's in a great location with nice little restaurants nearby.
My friends and I stayed at Peter's apartment for New Year's 2014. This was my first experience using airBnB, and I couldn't have been happier. First, Peter was quick to respond to any questions I had during the entire process, and made the check-in/out process so convenient. The apartment really is a great size, and was perfect for our little group. We felt right at home. In addition, the apartment is in a pretty great location – convenient to the subway (quick 20 minute ride into Manhattan via the N Express) with lots of little shops and restaurants in the area.
I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a comfortable, conveniently located place to stay when visiting the NYC area.
We had a great time here. Thank you, Peter.
The local Chinatown in 7th Avenue and 8th Avenue is more interesting than the Chinatown in Manhattan.
We also recommend the good and cheap mexican food at Speedy's restaurant.
Excelente ubicación del apartamento, para trasladarse en metro, supermercados. Siempre estuvo muy atento a respondernos y (website hidden) gracias
Peter's place was great. It was much larger than we expected which was nice since we stayed 4 nights. Really liked having the subway right around the corner. Appreciated the flexible check in/out times. Having a kitchen was great when we didn't want to eat out (loads of options though just a few blocks away). Apartment was very clean and the water very hot. Also, Peter was super responsive when the wireless wasn't working (set up a new router which is super fast).
Hi, We really enjoyed our stay not only in New York, but we really loved Peter's apartment and Peter's kindess. We really thank him for the refrigerator. The subway is just around the corner and the neighbourhood has everything you need even if you arrive late at night. I highly recommend it! Nadia, Fiorella Giacomo Benedetta
Great place with everything close by. Great restaurants, very close to subway. The little Mexican joint a block north was great. Had a great stay. Thanks a bunch Peter.
Nice, tidy and spacious apartment, good location with N & R -trains to Manhattan. Real New York -feelings with funny vintage style! Felt like home just the way we wanted to, to have a starting & sleeping point during our stay. The sounds of the street didn't disturb us but it was good to have the earplugs to ensure a good sleep. Cosy rooms with warm colors but without anything unnecessary. Good and clean kitchen with all we needed. Very interesting flat with individual artworks!
And Pete: he is so nice and a great host, answered patiently to our endless and even odd questions - we used Airbnb the first time. He even came to give us great tips for music places. We had a feeling that we really were his guests. We would stay here again and will tell our friends about Pete's place!
