My wife and I stayed here for two weeks and it was perfect. Can gave us detailed directions to the apartment, made sure it was all ready and stocked (including water and snacks in the refrigerator!), and even gave us maps and an Istanbulkart. We could not have been happier or more comfortable.
We cannot say enough positive things about Can and our experience staying in the apartment listed! Upon arrival, Can had a staff member take our bags to the apartment while he provided us with tea and a map and outlined things to do and places to go in Istanbul, all of which was very much appreciated. We had numerous questions, given that our trip was somewhat last-minute and we did not do the proper amount of research regarding places to go and things to do in Istanbul, and he took a considerable amount of time to answer all questions posed and offer insight. He even provided us with a gift of an evil-eye keychain, which I will treasure always. Upon arriving to the apartment, he had left a few treats and a large bottle of water in the refrigerator for us. On one occasion, when we were asking how to get to the Spice Market, he took the time to drive us there personally. He also provided us with two umbrellas one day when it was raining, as we had forgotten to pack ours. Whenever we had a question, we were encouraged to go next door during business hours and/or call him, which we took advantage of a few times. All this was certainly going "above and beyond" and very helpful! Can and his staff made us feel welcomed and viewed as valued guests. In addition, because our plane left very early in the morning, he arranged a taxi for us and even had his staff member Ahmed show up (at 3 o'clock in the morning no less!) to make sure that we got off without any problems. Ahmed even carried our bags to the taxi and loaded them for us. The apartment was charming, and even had two bathrooms, which I did not remember from the listing, but was a great surprise. The bathroom downstairs even had a heated floor, which was nice. The apartment was in a good location and relatively close to the area in which we wanted to spend the most time. The only thing I would caution others about is the hill surrounding the apartment, so if you have difficulty navigating stairs or hills, this may prove to be a bit of a challenge. We are middle-age (approaching elderly) however, and we did not have any problems whatsoever. In all, I would HIGHLY recommend staying in one of Can's listings. Both he and his apartment were charming.
We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay in Istanbul than Can's place. He personally said this was his favorite apartment, and it was easy to see why: It's a beautiful space (the photos barely do it justice) in great condition, with all the amenities you could ask for, perfectly located near some of the city's most exciting areas, and Can went above and beyond to make our stay great. He helped us with many tips, gave us a public transport card to use, left little breakfast treats in the fridge and was always available to us. Highly recommended!
This place is a real gem!! Even better looking than in the pictures, warm cozy and so pleasant! The location is spot on perfect and the house was so clean when we arrived. Can is a great host, he left us yummy treats in the fridge upon our arrival and was very helpful with everything we needed. This was my third time in Istanbul, and if i ever go back for more i am staying there!!
The apartment was very nice and clean. Can was accommodating and helpful. The apartment is located in a good location with easy access to tram and main street with many bars and restaurants.
A clean, lovely flat in a good location with good amenities, such as a washing machine/drier (though we couldn't figure out how the drier worked), satellite TV, two bathrooms etc.
The flat is near the historic Pera Palace Hotel (Orient Express fans will know about that), and so within easy walking distance of İstiklal Avenue, Taksim Square and Galata Tower. One can walk to the Old City: The Sultan Ahmet complex is about 3,5km away.
Can was a fantastic host. Upon arrival he gave us an orientation of Istanbul, her gave a travelcard for us to use (in the event, we walked everywhere); even the fridge was stocked with free refreshments.
Conveniently, his office is next door, so one can store luggage there after check-out to go sightseeing before a late flight. Since nobody moved in after us, Can let us stay until we had to leave at 21:00 at no charge. That service is a very big plus.
Should I have occasion to stay in Istanbul again, I have a home.
