The Blue Studio is a stylish stay in our boutique hotel that we opened in 2022 in the fully renovated and sustainable 17th century national monument in the rural village of Westzaan. A beautiful spot in the Zaanstreek, where we are also happy to welcome you to our restaurant and picnic garden.

The space
Our blue room comes from the mind of Simon (37) and Ira (3). It is an accommodation that stimulates your senses with a special combination of images. You sleep on the loft overlooking the picnic garden and meadows (note: the loft is cozy and small, like a bedstead). Yes, you can write, draw or work at the French field desk, but you might prefer to relax in the lazy armchair.

The Blue studio is located on the first floor on a landing that you share with one other accommodation. Via a steep spiral staircase (!) - where the bags of flour used to be carried up - you get to the top. From this studio, you have beautiful views over the meadows and the garden. The bathroom is located in the accommodation in an enclosed space. Feel at home by drinking a cup of coffee or tea or make a lunch in the kitchenette.

The kitchenette is equipped with a number of basic amenities such as: percolator, kettle, plates, glasses and cutlery. There are no facilities for cooking or heating food.

During the day, many of our guests explore the famous, historic Zaan region, go energetic SUP (rental 100 meters away), go to Amsterdam or laze around in the garden.

Our restaurant and our chef Syl are known in our region for celebrating local ingredients: for example, the meat we serve comes mainly from the organically raised cows that can be seen from our garden, but we also have an extensive vegan menu. It is smart to reserve a table in advance. Surf online to Jongwijs Westzaan and find our website where you can make reservations.

Our garden has sweeping views of the meadows, and hostess Nel is happy to show the guests of our boutique hotel around.

Guest access
Of course, you have access to your own accommodation. In addition, you are welcome in the adjacent restaurant for a cup of coffee or a delicious lunch or dinner. The terrace in front, and the picnic garden behind, are freely accessible and are wonderful places to chill in the sun or to enjoy the view.

Other things to note
You will stay in a centuries-old national monument. Despite the fact that the building has been modernized from top to toe (while preserving the authentic elements and atmosphere), you may hear sounds from the restaurant.

Please note: some steps and stairs are typical of the seventeenth century, i.e. steep. To reach the studio, you walk up a narrow spiral staircase upon entering. The sleeping area of this studio is located on the cozy loft that you reach by climbing the wooden staircase. If you have difficulty walking, that can be a challenge.

Accessibility/transport:
Our Boutique Hotel & Restaurant is located in the middle of the typical Dutch countryside, just 5 kilometers north of Amsterdam. Since there are no bus stops in front of our door, the best ways to get to Amsterdam from our location (and vice versa) are as follows:

Amsterdam City Center/Central Station:

17 km from our location
25 minutes by car/Uber/taxi (depending on traffic)

42 minutes by bike
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

25 km from our location

Together with family and friends, we wanted to make a place to enjoy the most beautiful and delicious things in our region. And we now enjoy doing that, in our beloved national monument from 1635 (!) in typical Dutch rural village of Westzaan, just steps from Amsterdam. There we welcome our guests in three completely restored monumental guest houses in 2022, our restaurant, bakery and garden. Our restaurant and our chef Syl are known in our region for celebrating local ingredients: the meat we serve, for example, comes mainly from the organic cows that can be seen from our garden, but we also carry an extensive vegan menu. Our friend Lex bakes the bread and banquet in the building as a third generation of artisan baker. Our garden has a wide view of the meadows and hostess Nel likes to guide the guests of our boutique hotel. Many of our guests wake up in the morning to the smell of fresh croissants from baker Lex, and from the fresh coffee from the organic beans roasted a few miles away (in prison, but that's a long story...). During the day, many of our guests explore the famous, historic Zaanstreek, go energetic SUP'pen (rental 100 meters away), go to Amsterdam or laze in the garden. Our adage is: nothing is necessary and (almost) everything is allowed. Welcome! Nel, chef Syl, bakery Lex and Simon
