Spacious, centrally located VERY private room on your own private floor, with your own private kitchen, living space, and bathroom. It is a straight shot to downtown from our urban, residential apartment with free street parking right out front.
Consider our newly renovated, private, and sunlit walk-down space an alternative to hotels and guesthouses in Seattle! This is a perfect place for someone who is looking for a local experience in one of Seattle's thriving and central neighborhoods. This space is more of an entire apartment with your own entrance that only you will use, your very own kitchen, living space, and bathroom. For the self-sufficient, friendly, and adventurous traveler, it's perfect! We aren't so keen on renting to people looking only for a cheap alternative to a hotel.
We live in a duplex apartment on a quiet street in the Central District of Seattle. The space is quite unique yet contemporary in design. We live in the upstairs apartment while we rent out the sunlit walk-down space with private entry below us. The Central District is the heart of this beautiful city. A 45 minute walk west leads you to downtown Seattle and the waterfront of the Puget Sound. A 15 minute walk southwest leads you to the vibrant neighborhood of the International District. A 30 minute walk north puts you at the cultural hub of Seattle that is Capitol Hill. A 30 minute walk downhill leads you to the shores of beautiful Lake Washington. A 30 minute walk northeast puts you among the 40,000 trees in the lush Arboretum and Japanese gardens. A few blocks from our house you will find clear views of the majestic Mount Rainier and the glistening Lake Washington. Find yourself on a high point and look west or east and you will have picturesque views of the Cascade and the Olympic Mountains. The Central District, where we live, is a vibrant neighborhood of all ages and types of folks. You will find tree lined streets with wide sidewalks and beautiful gardens. Not even a block from our house is a large park with barbecues, courts, and innovative play structures. This neighborhood is a food oasis with the best Ethiopian food, small-batch gourmet ice cream, comfort food, premier cupcakes, locally roasted coffee, and many cafes and bars.
We are renting the studio-like, sunlit walk-down space with separate entry directly below our apartment to short-stay visitors. There is one bedroom with a queen sized bed and large window with a plastic, accordion-type separation door that opens to a living area with a twin sized futon and small window. We provide all bedding and towels. There is a kitchen for light cooking with mini refrigerator, freezer, toaster oven, and stove; no full oven nor microwave. We provide pots and pans, basic cooking utensils, dinnerware, silverware, Keurig coffee maker, coffee, tea, and kettle. One bathroom with shower, toilet, and vanity (no bath tub). All of these amenities will be private to you as we have our own upstairs. The entry is to our back yard, so you may come and go as you please. ONLY YOU WILL BE USING THIS ENTRY. It is a walk-down space with an indoor stairwell that leads to available unit. There is a locked door at the top of the stairwell that leads to our unit.
The area is spare in design and ideal for guests seeking a cozy, private space to get great sleep in support of their Seattle adventures. We have many brochures and maps to help you choose from the many exciting things Seattle has to offer. Guests staying with us have access to our secluded and fenced back garden that we share with our friendly neighbor and their two dogs. Amenities include wireless internet and satellite television. Due to the walk-down stairs, the space is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible.
We unfortunately cannot accept pets in our rental.
The apartment is directly below the apartment shared by a couple (us!) and our friendly, elderly dog. The building is old and creaky floors are present, though we try to be as considerate as possible. We have ample experience traveling in the Northwest and assisting with itinerary creation, so if our visitors are keen for advice on what to see or where to go, we would be happy to help. Our backgrounds are in photography, vintage design, cooking, gardening, and urban arts.
We look forward to hosting you in our lovely home! Please do contact us if you have any questions.
To make sure this is the right fit for you, please carefully read our House Manual and our House Rules before booking.
The entire space (entry, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living space) is completely private to you. We live upstairs and use our own private entry in the front. There is free street parking available right out front.
We like to give our guests privacy as the space is private to you, but are readily available if you need anything. We try to make it a point to meet each guest, but as the space is private to you and we may have conflicting schedules, we may never meet. If not available in person, we try to be as prompt as possible to respond to all e-mail, texts, and calls.
This is an urban, residential area right in the center of this beautiful, international city. It is central to pretty much all that you will want to do along with plenty of free street parking. Our space is best for the adventurous and laid-back traveler. Not so great for people looking just for a cheap alternative to a hotel.
We live blocks from bus lines 8 and 27.
1) Please use Airbnb conversation methods to get in touch regarding your stay.
2) The best fit for this space is the self-sufficient guest. We are happy to answer questions and we try to be as available as possible, but because we host so many guests, we ask that guests also take responsibility for the details of their trip.
3) If your stay requires cleaning that is greatly above and beyond the usual cleaning, you will be charged a $25 cleaning fee from your deposit. We expect to thoroughly clean the space after each stay, but we try to keep our prices low by expecting our guests to be considerate of our space. Examples of "above and beyond" the usual use of apartment include examples such as: food splatters on walls and ceiling, food caked dishes, and staining linens. This list is by no means exhaustive. We are laid back and want your stay to be comfortable, but please be considerate!
4) Out of respect for other tenants in the building, we request "indoor voices." No need to whisper, but please remember it is an older, shared building.
5) The rental agreement only extends to the person or persons agreed upon at the time of booking. Additional unexpected visitors or night guests are not accepted.
6) Please keep nightlife activities outside of the home.
7) We are unable to accommodate pets in the rental unit.
Really nice and clean. Best bet for your buck! Will do it again if I go back to Seattle again.
Awesome place to stay in, it was comfy, clean, close to downtown and had everything we needed. Would recommend this place to anyone!
Quiet little place a little way out of downtown. Check in and out was quick and easy. Perfect for what we were looking for.
Nice space! No problem with parking and centrally located. Thanks for the great stay.
We were satisfied with our stay in Shelby & Dan's space. We arrived via public transit from the airport and their instructions on how to navigate were especially helpful. After a long day of traveling we were also happy to find their guidebook with recommendations for places to eat, it took the hassle out if it for us. After that first night we were out and about exploring & only came back to collapse in bed. The bed was a bit more firm than our liking, but long days on our feet had us sleeping well despite this. We both loved the shower, my boyfriend is on the tall side and sometimes has issues with the shower head not being tall enough-not at all here! One of the best parts about this place for us was the location, close to the #8 bus which we used frequently but also free parking for our rental car (for our out of Seattle explorations). Very happy!
We had a great, private stay. Everything was great and the location was super convenient for getting downtown. we didn't use public transit but I imagine it wouldn't have been difficult. felt very private and very safe. thanks, Shelby!
Hi! I am from Nashville, but live in Seattle with my husband, Dan, and our senior dog. Together, we sell vintage clothing, collect antiques, do photography and we LOVE road trips! Dan has a passion for exploring Asia while I love a good American road trip. I am a laid back traveler who enjoys discovering new cities on foot or bicycle while enjoying lots of local coffee! We love hosting guests who are passionate about exploring new places and who are always up for wherever the trip may take them!
