  • Excellent qualité for the price

  • I was looking for a isolated, relaxing place to stay and this place hit the spot. Also, the cafe on site offers healthy, organic food option for lunch and dinner and provides a free breakfast each morning. If you hang around the grounds at all you'll meet some interesting travelers from varying backgrounds.

One thing to note though - it is definitely a little tough to get around without a car unless you plan on staying on the Leeward Coast (West Oahu).

  • I travelled to Waianae after a conference in Honolulu to escape the bustle of Waikiki. My stay at Kahumana organic farm was the perfect antidote to the tiredness that had crept up. I had, perhaps, the best sleep in weeks. The staff at the farm were warm and generous and I met a number of fellow travellers with interesting stories. Breakfast was delicious. I spent most of the time during the day at the shore, walking along the beach.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and if Hawaii weren't so far away I would already be planning my return.

  • great place to relax

  • You will love the courteous and helpful people who provide service at this farm-style retreat. But rent a car. Nothing is close enough to walk to. The bus stops right by the retreat but I had a car so I never used the bus.

Kahumana is not like a mainland farm. I only ever slept over on a farm one time before in my life. My great uncle Rod had a farm in North Dakota. It had a lot of wheat and a lot of cows. The Kahumana farm was more like a great big garden by comparison. The only animals I saw were birds, mostly chickens. The Kahumana farm smells good and looks great, by the way. (My uncle Rod's farm, not so much.)

The price is the best in Hawaii. My purpose in coming to Hawaii was to extend a job interview trip. I wanted to see the "real Hawaii" -- leeward side of the island -- NOT Waikiki or downtown Honolulu. I wanted to meet working people and check out the prices of leeward side apartments. Kahumana provided the most cost-effective solution.

I was there seven days. One day there there was only cold water for showers. The rest of the days had hot water. The breakfast was oatmeal and toast and some fruit. I personally don't mind cold showers... and they're not as cold in Hawaii as compared to Michigan, my home state.

Bottom line: great people, great price, great place... just keep in mind it is a farm/BNB, not a hotel.

  • This was a wonderful place to rest for a night. They have a beautiful location on a farm that was very relaxing. Room was clean and just fine for one person. There were two bathrooms across from my room with showers and it was never a problem to use it at anytime. Also a nice community kitchen!

  • This is a straightforward place in a corner of the island, which I would highly recommend. Beautiful and uncrowded beaches in a wonderful sourrounding. We arrived just after sunset and had trouble finding our room as never hung a map. But finally one of the "WWOOFERS" helped us and we were happy to have a little house just for us. Breakfast was really good and bountiful.

  • Kahumana Farm is a beautiful place to relax, rejuvenate and connect with the earth and our food! Thank you for sharing this space of inspiration!

  • This place is very beautiful. However, because of an unstable guest....we only stayed for one night. Shauntel was very understanding and worked with me on a refund.
