This pretty li'l resting spot is a private apartment beneath the rest of a four bedroom 100-yr old (well, nearly--1914), owner-occupied private residence. So, it's an apartment, a nice converted dry basement, within a house!
Has some natural light, interesting open floor plan, simple kitchen with handsome gas range, fridge, granite bar, bathroom with shower, sleeping and office nook too! Queen bed.
Additionally there's a full size pull-out sofa bed that can sleep a couple more than the main 2 guests. Works well if you are close friends or family. Alert me ahead of time if that's your intention and if you'd like me to make it up as a bed for you before you arrive or to leave it as a sofa and let you self-serve at bedtime.
Salvaged wood floor from an old tap-dance studio shows the joyful markings of said art, lends a rustic warmth to the space (cozier than concrete!)
You may hear light footsteps occasionally from the shoe free house above, but is by and large a quiet home. Separate entrance.
Laundry room shared and adjacent to this flat.
See my other two listings for the other rooms above this'n.
Sorry that we can not welcome Pets at this time. If you are staying multiple months and have a well trained service dog, we can discuss. Other than that I will have to love your pet from afar. Please forgive, Woof.

Our stay in Leo's suite was wonderful! We could not have asked for a better experience. The space is large and warm, with a full kitchen and lots of helpful extras, like additional blankets and a space heater in the bedroom area. The bed is super comfortable! Leo is a fantastic host - she clearly loves hosting people in her lovely home, and takes pride in creating a great space for her guests. And the surrounding neighborhood is fantastic! Highly recommended!
This space is amazing with all the touches that made it feel like a home away from home. Leo is friendly, warm and giving.
A wonderfully cozy place and a truly kind, generous and attentive host! Having our own private entrance was great. There was access to a very modern washer and dryer. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The shower had a very nice modern showerhead and good water pressure. The kitchen was awesome for cooking in. There is a very special and quite beautiful 4 burner gas stove and oven that we used daily. We did wish there was a bit more light, but it is a basement apartment and even so there are a few windows so it really was still lovely. Besides, you shouldn't be cooped up inside during a beautiful Portland day anyway. Leo made sure all of our needs were taken care of. We would highly recommend her and her place.
Leo made our relocation to Portland nice and smooth! She was a very welcoming hostess, showed us around the house and apartment, and gave us a lot of local tips.
Although the house is marked as "pet-friendly" on Airbnb, our cat was not accepted to stay with us. However, Leo made a good suggestion for us to leave our kitty with a nearby cat motel, a couple of blocks away from the house. [NOTE: we had a little bit of an issue with the cat motel, in case you are looking for a similar solution. Message me if you want to discuss. None of this is Leo's fault, BTW!]
The location is great; we were able to get pretty much anywhere we needed to go within 15 minutes. This was essential as we were house hunting for our permanent home.
We cooked a lot of our meals on the awesome gas stove, used the laundry room, and even played a bit with the piano upstairs. The other folks staying in the house were friendly, and did not create a lot of noise.
There are a few quirks about the house and apartment, but no deal breakers... they just made the apartment charming. Overall it was cozy, comfortable and convenient.
Super friendly and accommodating. Great host with suggestions for cool things to do in the wonderful city of Portland!
Leo and William were awesome hosts! My husband, our two pups and I stayed for 5 weeks in the basement apartment. They were super accommodating, and we are so grateful they are pet friendly. The couch turns into a bed which came in handy for our visitors. Leo even has a comfy pillowtop to throw on top.
We were in Portland during the summer so some of the days the apartment got a little toasty for my hot-natured husband, otherwise it was nice having the windows open full time.
The bus stop is super convenient and we took it into downtown often. There is a cool little food truck area a short walk away, and nearby one of the best gyms we've come across on our tour around the US. Definitely stop into Hollywood Fitness if you need to workout on your visit.
If you have a car, definitely explore some nearby waterfall hikes. Portland and the surrounding area is such a fun city to explore.
Leo is a sweetie and even offered to mail us items we accidentally left.
We stayed in Leo's downstairs apartment which is a basement suite. Leo is very friendly and helpful and her place is really well located. If you're on transit, it's only 30 minutes from downtown, and if you're driving, it's 15 minutes from everywhere (including the airport). I was there with two friends and the downstairs apartment does not have enough privacy for three adults to share space. The bedroom does not have a door, so there is no physical separation between the double bed area and the living room/pull out couch area. The bathroom door does not go all the way to the ceiling so there's a 1 foot gap between the door and ceiling and since the doors are (frosted) glass, there is no sound or much of a visual barrier between the bathroom and the living space. If you're very close to your friends and/or partner, this won't be an issue!
We had a wonderful week in Leo's apartment. Everything was clean, in good shape and decorated in a fun style. The neighborhood is fantastic. You are in walking distance of a food park, interesting stores and cute homes with fabulous gardens. Leo was a great and interesting hostess.
What an extraordinarily sweet and cozy place to stay! Gorgeous garden outside and lovely warm decor inside. Thoughtfully selected amenities, sparkling cleanliness & order, and an incredibly generous and welcoming hostess. Thanks so much, Leo! We had a terrific time here and would love to come back!
Staying in Leo's apartment was great. The apartment is spacious and cozy, with everything you might need during your stay. The apartment is kinda like built into the small hill where Leo's house is located, which gives it an amazing isolation from the heat (incredibly useful in summer; while i was there it was like 34 degrees Celsius but once i came back home, it was cold and refreshing). Leo herself is a great person, very energetic and friendly. She was consistently offering things to do, and whenever i had doubts she always had answers and suggestions. At the end of my stay, she even offered to drive me to the airport!! It was a great stay, and i would recommend it to anyone going to Portland.
