Description

The space

Well situated near commuter rail and bus into Boston (10-15 min.), quiet neighborhood, bedroom(s) and bath, close to the colleges -- short walk to Boston College, short drive to B.U., Harvard, Brandeis, Bapson, Bentley, 140 year old restored Victorian, with lovely yard, and deck. Kitchen and comfortable living room with fireplace. Easy walk into Newtonville where there are coffee shops, stores, etc. We have hosted parents visiting their children, people looking for more permanent housing in the area, people from Europe on holiday and Americans simply on vacation. You can't get much better than being a stones throw from Boston without the noise of being in the middle of everything.

Guest access

Light use of the kitchen as well as the deck and yard.

Interaction with guests

We love visiting with guests but are also on the move ourselves. While we are happy to provide guidance and ideas for visitors, we do not hover and encourage our guests to come and go as they please. Our guests usually have their own busy itineraries.

The neighborhood

Our Neighbor has lots of trees and open space and is filled with a great variety of unique houses. Within 10 minutes walk is one of the boroughs of Newton - Newtonville Center which offers a bread shop, several coffee shops, restaurants and shops.

Getting around

The Commuter rail into Fenway, Back Bay and South Station is a 5-8 minute walk. Also 5-8 minutes away are buses that will take you right into Boston as well as Watertown.

House Rules

Late evening arrivals are fine if you are very quiet, no smoking, must be ok with dog - cockapoo, who is friendly and does not shed. Request no perfume if possible. Check-out is on the morning of your check-out day - but let me know if you need a different arrangement. Dependent upon the day I can be very flexible.

We enjoyed a lovely long weekend at Alice's house. She was very friendly and accommodating, even with her busy travel schedule. The location is right around the corner from friends we were visiting, which was super convenient!

Alice was such a wonderful host! We ended up arriving later than expected and she was so understanding and welcoming when we got there. She took time out of her day to drive us around Boston, which, I feel went way beyond what is expected being a host. It really meant a lot! We had a fantastic stay and would definitely stay with her again! I would highly recommend her if you ever come to Boston!!

A perfect home away from home with a friendly and helpful host! From offering us tourist and transit info prior to our arrival ... to providing an ideal room with the MOST comfortable bed ... to sharing the kitchen in her charming home, Alice was certainly 'the host with the most'! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Newton and loved the convenience of the commuter rail station just a 5 minute walk away. The Wi-Fi was solid and the room had everything we needed, including a big desk, couch, spacious closet and a super comfy bed with cozy linens. We look forward to a return visit so we can enjoy the neighbourhood, the home and chats with Alice even more. THANK YOU ALICE!

Charming wonderful house! I felt right at home the minute I arrived. Alice is the perfect host. I was in a bit of a squeeze look to book a place in Boston in less then 24 hours, and Alice got right back to me within the hour to except my booking. Love the location - a few blocks from the village, and mass transit. Thank you Alice!
