Comfortable modern home with separate bedroom and living room, in the center of residential, downtown Manhattan, on the border between two charming residential neighborhoods Chelsea and the West Village, and just a few steps from the NYC Subway.
Fully-equipped, beautifully furnished 500-square-foot corner apartment with living room, bedroom, kitchen, full bath & 3 large closets.
Great neighborhood for restaurants & nightlife, with the fashionable Meatpacking District, its art galleries, and the new High Line elevated park all just 2 blocks away.
Excellent central location. Walk just one block (or less) to the 1, 9, A, C, E, L, F, V subway lines. Short walk to Union Square & NYU. Super-convenient location for everyday needs -- gourmet grocery store, laundromat, dry cleaners, two pharmacies, a more basic grocery store, and a 24-hour deli are all just a few steps away, within one block.
Four large windows provide plenty of natural light. The apartment is on the 2nd floor of a walk-up building and it has high ceilings, dark hardwood floors and freshly painted walls with one exposed brick wall (the best feature!) The windows are treated with remote-control-operated venetian blinds, for your privacy and convenience.
The living room is a great lounge space with a large, comfortable couch -- large enough to stretch out and sleep on. It's also an excellent workspace, with a large desk, multiple lighting sources, and very comfortable rolling chair for working and studying.
The living room also features a brand new Samsung 51-inch flat screen LCD HDTV, as well as a DVD player and the new ROKU free streaming-video service with hundreds of channels and thousands of free movies, TV shows and music videos, for your entertainment.
The apartment has its own hi-speed wi-fi internet connection with a wireless "N" router (the newest, most powerful and reliable wi-fi technology) so you can wirelessly connect all your devices to the internet at a very high speed. You may also connect hard-wired with an Ethernet cable (provided here for you) for extra security, speed and reliability.
The heating system is strong and reliable in the cold months, and keeps the apartment very warm. But if you prefer it hotter, there is also a new Vornado whole-room heater with mulitple settings, which circulates the warm air nicely. For summer, there is a powerful 15,000 BTU Friedrich air conditioner unit which makes the whole apartment nice and cool. There are also two modern, brushed steel ceilings fans mounted to the ceilings in the living room and the bedroom, to help circulate the air, if you wish.
The refrigerator and kitchen cabinets will be stocked with complimentary breakfast foods and other basic supplies for the first few days of your stay.
Also included are
- freshly laundered bed linens (sheets) and bath towels; complimentary shampoo, body wash and soap
- fully-stocked kitchen including All-Clad premium cookware, coffeemaker, microwave oven, toaster oven, gas stove, gas oven
- bathroom with full bath tub and European-style dual shower head with 35 power-massage settings
- all lights are on dimmer controls, to suit your lighting needs
I will do all I can to help make your visit a happy, enjoyable and successful one. Any questions, just ask :)
Guests have access to everything in the apartment and are welcome to use all amenities and spaces, except for a portion of the closet space. There are three (3) large closets in the apartment, and a dresser in the bedroom, so there is lots of space for guests' clothing and other items.
I usually greet my guests at check-in to provide keys and a quick walk-through, and to answer any questions. After that, I'm away, but never too far. I am always available 24/7 to fix problems, share advice, and answer questions.
My place is conveniently located on the border between Chelsea and the West Village. These two neighborhoods are charming, historical, and residential. We have the beautiful High Line elevated park, NYU, Union Square, and the Meatpacking District with its fashion houses and art galleries, all just a few short blocks from my apartment. This area is full of cafes, restaurants, diners, bars, art galleries, shopping and cinema. But it is also relaxing and quiet, compared to the neighboring midtown Manhattan (Hell's Kitchen) which is a very busy, congested area with noisy traffic jams and enormous crowds of pedestrian businesspeople and tourists. You will fall in love with the convenience and the charm of this historic NYC neighborhood.
About 30 feet (10 meters) from my building, there is an entrance to the NYC Subway, where you can take express and local trains to any part of New York City. Buses also stop nearby.

I highly recommend Kai's flat. From cleanliness, decor, location, accessibility, comfort, and general vibe, the flat exceeded my expectations. I came out to NY for a short business trip this week and Kai was very present and engaged with my stay. He met me at the flat and gave a thorough tour and explanation of the amenities and logistics of the apartment.
The place has everything you'd need, from cooking supplies, to blankets, extra towels, and a hair dryer. Kai is well-prepared for a range of guests.
I'll be booking this place next time I'm in the city.
This was our 1st vacation not staying in a hotel – and it was great. We were looking for an apartment near to ‘everything’ – but not around Time Square with all the tourist hotels. Found this apartment and we hoped it would be the one we were looking for.
And – it was!! 1st time in NY, we wanted a place with nearby metro station, shops/restaurants. And it was all there. Metro station is just below the apartment, lots of grocery shops nearby, also lots of very different restaurants.
We didn’t had any problem with the noise during the night. Slept like babies :-) Just if you’re watching some telly before you head to bed: turn on the volume a bit. That’s it.
Great communication upfront, we even got a map with some dinner suggestions. During our stay we had a quick question, got response in no time. Perfect.
The apartment is like described: modern, tasteful decorated and everything (bath, kitchen) works fine. You really feel like ‘home’- also thanks to our host who made us feel very welcomed.
Next time we’re coming to NY we definitely would choose this place again.
Was very wary of the the whole Airbnb concept, having only stayed solely all my life on trips in Starwood hotels before, but was more than pleasantly surprised; I was amazed.
Kai was professional, friendly and very considerate. The apartment itself was immaculate, funky, modern and very warm (stayed in December). It’s smack bang in the middle of Chelsea and not far from anything. There is literally a subway station below the apartment, as well as the crosstown M14 bus stop.
If you are overly-sensitive to noise and can’t cope with earplugs whilst sleeping, then perhaps this is not the place for you. The noise of the city whilst awake is part of the fun though! Kai was also generous enough to even leave me a selection of earplugs to use! The silicon gel plugs blocked out 95% of the noise, and so I slept like a baby the whole week. The tradeoff for this of course is that it really is near to everything. The Westside Market is a 10 second walk across the road with everything you could possibly need, including the most amazing range of pre-cooked, or ready-to-cook, meals. The apartments comes stocked with microwave, oven, refrigeration et al, so the options are all there. There is a laundromat nearby, as well as several liquor outlets and a grocery store if you need. All up, so much more convenient than a hotel.
If I can drag my partner to New York next time I come back, we will definitely be staying here again!
I was in NYC for 3 weeks for work and very much wanted to avoid a hotel. Kai was quick to respond to my request and 3 weeks was no problem for him. Before I arrived he was good about communicating before I got into town with how to get to his place and was understanding when my flight was delayed due to weather.
The apartment was very modern, clean, conveniently located 1-bed. It could easily house more but it was fantastic for me especially coming from Chicago on work and not wanting a traditionally cramped NYC apartment. I felt very much at home. I was able to eat there most nights and he had some breakfast food ready for me.
About the only problem with this place is the noise, being on a major street one can hear much of the car noise but that wasn't a problem for me being a deep sleeper and being exhausted from work. I don't think the noise would be a problem for anyone except the lightest of sleepers and he even offered ear plugs for me to use. Didn't need them. I slept like a log.
I highly recommend this place for its location and cleanliness. Thanks again!
I don't think there are superlatives enough to describe our experience staying at Kai's apartment. From beginning to end, everything exceeded our expectations. Being an ex-New Yorker in town for the Tribeca Film Festival, I knew what I was looking for regarding neighborhood, amenities, etc. I contacted quite a few hosts prior to making my decision and Kai was by far the most responsive, friendly and accommodating. Any questions I had were answered quickly and thoroughly. Upon arriving at the apartment, Kai was there to help us with our bags. (Yes, the place is a walk-up but it's 3 very short flights and I appreciated the exercise!) Once in the apartment I was thrilled to see everything was impeccably clean and neat, which is the most important thing to me. Drawers, closets and the medicine cabinet had been emptied for our stuff. I never felt like I had to move someone else's things out of the way, but instead felt like it was our very own apartment for the week. Sheets were new, towels were nicely folded, dishes and cookware were sparkling. Kai had stocked the fridge with eggs, juice, delicious Greek yogurt, etc. He went over every detail of the apartment with us so we didn't have any questions or surprises. The nice-sized flat screen TV has Netflix & Roku. The remote-controlled shades blocked the light well for sleeping. Kai thoughtfully provided earplugs for sleeping in case the roar of the city kept us up. The apartment is in a busy part of the city, so if you're looking for the quietest spot in town this probably isn't it. That said, I didn't notice any with-the-building noise from our neighbors at all. And, for us, the city noise factor was a totally worthwhile trade-off for the unbeatable convenience of the location. Subway access is fantastic. You're close to Soho/Tribeca, close to midtown. Believe me, you'll spend more time where you want to be and less time getting there, a real consideration in such a traffic-y city. I can honestly say our week there went by without a hitch. And when it came time to leave and our flight was taking off later in the day, Kai generously gave us a later check-out time and helped us back down with our bags. This was my first Airbnb experience and I can't imagine it having turned out better. Kai and his place are wonderful. I would happily stay there again any time!
This apartment was very clean and uncluttered. The furniture and bed was comfortable and the bathroom was modern with plenty of hot water and water pressure. It is a great location too. I could not ask for a nicer and more accommodating host.
A very good moment, Kai is a great host, helpful, very kind ! With my girlfriend, we were very happy, it's well located, the apartment is clean and comfortable. A great, great moment in this wonderful apartment, I live as a Newyorker ! !
Thank's for all Kai !
This was a great Airbnb experience! The apartment was very clean and beautifully decorated, with every convenience. It was easy to work in the apartment (super fast wi-fi), and easy to relax too. The location was excellent, very close to rail and bus stations, near NYU and shopping in Union Square, and just 2 blocks from Chelsea Market, the Highline, the Meatpacking District and Greenwich Village. And Kai was a nice host, very helpful -- he gave me a quick orientation, then he went to stay with friends nearby. When I had any questions, he responded immediately by phone, text, email. You will enjoy this place -- highly recommended!
