In an ancient piazzetta of historic Mazara del Vallo, there is a charming two bedroom apartment with views of Sicilian Arab-Norman and Spanish architecture, and total comfort. Mazara del Vallo is a seaside town surrounded by beaches of fine white sand to be discovered. It is one of the largest ports of the Mediterranean, so the town's seafood dishes are famous throughout Italy. There is night life in Mazara with cafes, restaurants and shops. It is also the home of the Satiro Museum, just 4 minutes walk from the apartment.
Mazara is located just 20 minutes from Selinunte's Greek Temples, 30 minutes from Segesta's Greek theatre, and one hour from Sicily's capital, Palermo. Mazara is less than an hour from the Egadi islands and the ancient town of Erice, home to Aphrodite.
The apartment is full of light with two comfortable bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen sized bed, the other large bedroom has two single beds. Both bedrooms have large windows. There is a sofa bed in the living room. In total, the apartment seeps six people. There are two bathrooms. One bathroom has a shower and the other very large bathroom has a bathtub. The living room is spacious and has double glass doors looking onto the piazza. The kitchen is newly renovated with a table and double glass doors looking onto the piazza as well. The apartment has airconditioning. It's the perfect place to unwind after a long day at the beach. When you leave the apartment, to walk along the antique wiinding streets, handpainted ceramics will tell you the story of Mazara. Enjoy.
Flights land daily to Palermo and Trapani, both international airports within an hours distance.
We stayed in this apartment in August 2014 (with 3-years old child). The apartment is very spacious, stylish and convenient, located in historic center of Mazara - beautiful neighbourhood, lots of restaurants and bars nearby (it is a little noisy on Friday and Saturday nights). Communication with Stefano was very easy and smooth, we got a lot of recommendations regarding places to visit. Reasraurant nearby called Tavernetta is worth to visit - food is just great!
We would defitinely reccomend this apartment.
We could not have asked for a better place to stay for our first trip to Sicily. The apartment was all that it promised and more. All of the modern amenities while retaining the old world charm the of building.
Mazara is the perfect town for people who like to travel and get a true "native" experience without being over run by tourism. Be prepared for the fact that no one speaks English or German but, we got by with a little Spanish, French and hand signals. Make sure to stock the fridge at the Coop Market near the main Piazza when you arrive, Siesta is taken seriously and everything is closed.
We were a little skeptical when we asked for restaurant reccomendations and Stefano told us that "everywhere is good, it all depends on what you want to pay"...but, it is true, the seafood pasta at the place across from the Norman Arch with the plastic chairs was so fantastic we went back for dinner another night. When in doubt, ordering the house wine anywhere was never disappointing.
Definitely, take time out to see the local historic attractions. They are not to missed!
The apartment is elegant, and extremely central in the middle of the town of Mazara. Restaurants and shops are within blocks.
Stefano has been gracious and his cousin Pietro took care of all details needed while Stefano was in NY.
If you are planning a trip to Mazara I highly recommend the apt.
I had a comfortable and lovely stay.
