We're a late-20s working professional couple with two awesome babies and a great condo in Chicago's best hood. We're always game for hosting new and great people and would very much like to hear from you!
Wicker Park is hands down the best place in Chicago for foodies, plus we've got great access to the cities many culinary attractions. Our next door neighbor is an Italian cafe frequently referred to as having 'one of Chicago's best patios'. The lakefront/Lincoln Park/Gold Coast/Mag Mile is 10-20 minutes by bus depending on the time and day you are going. Our house is an 8 minute walk from two blue line stops to get you to/from O'hare and Downtown quickly. If going to Midway add a transfer to the Orange line for about 50 minutes total on the train.
Private bed and bath, kitchen and dining area (we love group meals!), baby gear (stroller, toys, changing table, port-a-crib), your own set of keys to come and go as you please, AppleTV, outdoor patios, Laundry, car rental (Zipcar), bike share (Divvy), transit/CTA and plenty of street parking
Interaction with Guests
Up to them, but we love hosting folks and often find time to share a meal and maybe a movie. Usually if we're doing events around town we'll invite guests or even just for coffee/drinks with friends. One lucky couple got to go sailing with us :O
They call Brooklyn the Wicker Park of the East :P - We love our hood, it's full of energy, great food, art, cafes bars and just minutes from downtown and the lakefront or any other great Chicago attraction (Wrigley field!)
There's a bus stop on the street in front of our house. We also have bike-share on our block (Divvy) and are about 7 mins walking to the Damen or Division CTA Blue Line stops which connect downtown and to the airports.
We don't have many 'rules' but I do provide a very detailed guide that explains getting to the house, entry, kitchen, cleanup, et cetera kinds of things you might like to know. Our only request is that you respect the quiet times for the babies and treat them as you would your own. Thanks!
Drew and Shea were excellent hosts and made us feel very welcome. The room was spacious and very private, however they were also always happy to have a chat and give us some suggestions for restaurants and what to do around town.
The location is great, about a 10-15 minute walk from the train station. You can also get a bus right outside the house which will take you to the station as well. If you don't want to travel down town, there's plenty of nice bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk.
Overall, we had great stay and would definitely recommend to other travellers!
Drew's place is in an amazing location. Great restaurants and awesome bars just steps away. The 70 bus is just across the street and it'll take you to the blue line, which will give you access to the rest of Chicago. The room is very private, clean, and tastefully decorated. It's located on the basement floor, separated from the family's living space. The walls are a bit thin; but overall not a problem for me. Drew and his family were super welcoming. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
Drew and his wife were the perfect hosts.
I had my own private space but they also invited me out several times for drinks and brunch. We even had a small dinner together where I helped out with the dessert. Anything I needed or questions I had, they were quick to help!
Restaurants and bars galore!
Very comfortable, pictures did not do justice! Bathroom was also well equipped like a hotel (hairdryer, tampons, etc).
Drew and family were fantastic hosts. They were friendly and helpful and the kids are adorable! Drew was probably the best host we've had staying at airbnb's!
Our private room was in the downstairs section of the duplex unit so we had lots of privacy if we wanted it and we could easily socialize with the family by heading upstairs. Downstairs, we also had an ensuite bathroom and there is also the living space pictured with large sofas and TV.
Location is fantastic right in the middle of Division st in Wicker Park.

I lOVED staying with Drew and his family! I felt at home the minute I arrived. I was given the space I needed yet I was always welcome to begin and be part of conversation and hanging out with them. Caila the Nanny is a totally cool, hip pastry chef and the kids are adorable and very well mannered. Total foodies and successful young business people, Drew and Shea have their finger on the pulse of the Chicago food and bar scene and were always enthusiastically sharing their favs. This was an added and unexpected plus for me as i was there for a culinary reasons as well! Drew's comprehensive guidebook for staying at the house and in Chicago made my stay there easy and clear even before I arrived as well as having lists (as back up when they are not around) of their fav places around the many neighbourhoods of Chicago. Speaking of which... they live in a FANTASTIC part of Wicker Park. Great, fun restaurants, bars and shops line both sides of the street. The blue line a short walk away and connects quickly to all points not to mention bus stop in front of house. If you are looking for a cool, fun neighbourhood instead of downtown I can't recommend this place more highly. I went for a run almost daily and had fun exploring surrounding parks and neighbourhoods. I had a nice big double bed, walk in closet and private bath all to myself. Most of the time I was the only one on that level and had total privacy within the home, but it was always enjoyable to run into any member of the household or recap my evening when coming in from a fun night. I would return to Drew and Shea's in a heartbeat.
Drew and Shea are the best! Their house is lovely. I had plenty of room and privacy for myself. They make you feel most welcome and comfortable.
Drew was really helpful with all sorts of recommendations on what to do in Chicago. He was also constantly aware, in case I needed anything. He was even kind enough to invite me to a small barbacue with a friend of his.
I had a great time in Chicago, staying at Drew's flat was a key part of it!
Thanks Drew and thanks Shea!
