Interaction with Guests
Depending on my academic schedule, very little during the Fall and Spring Semesters, more so in the summer time when I am home a lot more
Ashby Bart station is 3 blocks from my house; bus lines are about the same. My house is pretty centrally located, walking distance from downtown Berkeley and UCBerkeley.
Other Things to Note
Parking on the street is 2 hour parking Monday through Friday from 10 am until 7 pm. Unrestricted parking on weekends, holidays and all night from 7 pm until 10 am. I have a longish driveway in which people have parked, also, a limited number of all day parking permits.
There are a number of units in my house so I expect guests to be relatively quiet after 10 pm in consideration of others and me; speaking in lower tones, coming in as quietly as possible, closing doors carefully.
no kitchen use
If possible, I would like to meet the guests the 1st day and go over the general schedules, just so we're on the same page.
No other guests in the house than the ones booking the room; unless we have discussed it ahead of time, and come to agreement
So far, for the most part, things have worked out very well, it's a relaxed and flexible atmosphere.
Judith's home was great ! The whole process of booking was an ease ! Be aware that the walls are thin and the floors creak with every soft step !
Great location. Two blocks from a fabulous coffee shop, M OK KA. Bus down telegraph Avenue stops right there. Good room with a great king size bed. Slept like a log.met Judith as we were leaving: all directions for picking up key were really clear. Perfect for our needs to visit the UC campus.
Excellent host! Room and bathroom were very clean. Judith was very kind to fill us in about the area's restaurants and entertainment options.
Description was accurate. Host greeted us upon arrival, and answered whatever questions we had about the area. The room was as pictured. The neighborhood was quiet, but was a bit far from what we remembered from prior visits to be the center of Berkeley. All the rooms were occupied, but everyone was quiet and respectful. The bathroom was clean and well stocked.
For Independence Day weekend, my college friend and I stayed at Judith's home in the Chez Juditte Retreat room. Last minute, our other housing plans fell through and we were frantically searching for somewhere to stay near San Francisco. We contact Judith and she promptly replied, and quickly approved our stay. She was very kind, and her home made us feel very safe and comfortable. It was perfect, and simple to travel to/from - located near Berkeley just 2-3 blocks from the Ashby BART station. Both the room and bathroom were set up very nicely; she left fresh sheets, toiletries, towels, water, etc. along with directions for the WiFi and other amenities. Anything we could think of, Judith already had covered. We would definitely recommend her to others.
It's a really nice place. Clean and convenient. The hostess is also nice. Enjoy my stay here

About the Host, Judith
I am a College Professor, teaching at City College, S.F., in the Older Adults Department. I teach T'ai Chi Chih and Mind/Body/Spirit Health. I have a Private Counseling Practice in Berkeley, out of my home, where I counsel people with an emphasis on Holism. I teach a system called the Enneagram which describes 9 different personality types. It is a wonderful tool for deepening ones understanding of oneself. I conduct groups with this orientation.
I love gardening and spend many hours in my luscious garden, meditating, doing T'ai Chi Chih and teaching classes, as well as pulling up the perennial little weeds which want to overwhelm my sunflowers, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, rose, cosmos, etc plants. I am basically, but not strictly, a vegetarian enjoying eating food from my garden, as well as the organic boxes of food delivered by FarmFreshToYou.
I am working on a book and find the garden the perfect place to be writing.
I am a Mother and a Grandmother, spending time with my very large extended family less than before. Everyone is growing up and very involved in their own wonderful lives! I'm grateful for the abundance of family.
I have traveled extensively, Europe; from Turkey to India by land, when that was possible; Africa; Israel; Mexico, almost all of the 50 States. I love different cultures and meeting people and learning about their lives. My three favorite cities in the world are San Francisco, Istanbul, and New Orleans.
I am an avid reader, as well as an amateur musician, picking up the clarinet and sitting at the piano periodically.
I enjoy watching dvds from Netflex, my favorites so far have been West Wing and Treme. I don't watch tv. Dislike the commercials. I listen to NPR, KQED, KALW, KPFA, and KCSM, the 24 hour jazz station. I also enjoy the classical station.
