Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • My boyfriend and I spent a great long weekend staying in Judith's "Chez Juditte Retreat." The room was clean and larger than we expected. We were very comfortable and found the mattress to be one of the best we'd ever slept on. The bathroom is right across the hall and even though we were sharing it with other guests, we never had a problem using it when we wanted to. The bathroom itself was also very clean, and the water pressure in the shower was excellent.

Judith's home is centrally located; we didn't have a car with us and truly didn't need one. Good coffee shops, restaurants, and sights in both Oakland and Berkeley are well within walking distance. For everything else, the BART station is a quick five minute walk away.

Judith was wonderful, too. She was there when we arrived, just as she said she'd be. She gave us a friendly and efficient tour and was readily available if we needed anything. Otherwise, though, everyone kept to themselves, which was more than fine with us. We'd recommend staying with Judith to anyone and would love to come back sometime!

  • Judith's space was great; her home was clean and comfortable and perfect for a night of rest.

    March 2014
  • Nice atmosphere, bed, bath and amenities. Judith came up to meet us after we arrived and came out to say good bye when we left. Completely pleasurable two night stay.

    March 2014
  • Judith was super friendly and responded very quickly to every message. The room was neat and the bed was really comfortable and it's located in a quiet neighborhood and it's close to the city.

    March 2014
  • Judith's house is in a great location. So if you are the kind of person who will be out all day and is looking for a reasonably priced place to shower and sleep, this could suit you. Be aware that on street parking (email hidden) limit, the bathroom is shared with 2 other rooms, guests do not have garden or kitchen access.

The bed is comfortable and it's a quiet area. Bright early morning sunlight so bring a sleeping mask if this bothers you, because there are paper blinds but no curtains.

The place is spartan and feels like a boarding house. Judith lives downstairs and this area is blocked off, the bedrooms and bathroom are upstairs. When I arrived Judith explained that she was busy writing and needed privacy, so preferred that I communicate by email or text message.

The atmosphere of a place is important to me. Judith had described her home as "relaxed and informal", but this was not my experience so I chose to move.

  • Everything was as described, Judith is a great host and the room was very comfortable and in a great location.

    March 2014
  • We had a very nice sleep at Chez Juditte. The room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable, as was the bed. The bathroom is conveniently right across the hallway and is also very clean. Judith is a gracious and accommodating host. We would certainly rent this room again!

    March 2014
  • I found Judith's place to be quiet and clean, and my experience was much like my prior stay in her home. The bed is comfortable and we had a wonderful night's sleep. Even though we didn't see Judith, the little tulip from her garden extended her welcome to us.

    March 2014
  • Very good and quiet location (5min walk to Ashby BART), big comfortable double bed. Perfect for few nights for 2 people although we experienced some problems with the WIFI.

    February 2014
  • Chez Judith is a perfect stay over with a cosy room and comfortabel bed. It's basic, but good. No breackfast included, but shops nearby.

Counselor/Teacher at City College of San Francisco
I am a College Professor, teaching at City College, S.F., in the Older Adults Department. I teach T'ai Chi Chih and Mind/Body/Spirit Health. I have a Private Counseling Practice in Berkeley, out of my home, where I counsel people with an emphasis on Holism. I teach a system called the Enneagram which describes 9 different personality types. It is a wonderful tool for deepening ones understanding of oneself. I conduct groups with this orientation. I love gardening and spend many hours in my luscious garden, meditating, doing T'ai Chi Chih and teaching classes, as well as pulling up the perennial little weeds which want to overwhelm my sunflowers, tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, rose, cosmos, etc plants. I am basically, but not strictly, a vegetarian enjoying eating food from my garden, as well as the organic boxes of food delivered by FarmFreshToYou. I am working on a book and find the garden the perfect place to be writing. I am a Mother and a Grandmother, spending time with my very large extended family less than before. Everyone is growing up and very involved in their own wonderful lives! I'm grateful for the abundance of family. I have traveled extensively, Europe; from Turkey to India by land, when that was possible; Africa; Israel; Mexico, almost all of the 50 States. I love different cultures and meeting people and learning about their lives. My three favorite cities in the world are San Francisco, Istanbul, and New Orleans. I am an avid reader, as well as an amateur musician, picking up the clarinet and sitting at the piano periodically. I enjoy watching dvds from Netflex, my favorites so far have been West Wing and Treme. I don't watch tv. Dislike the commercials. I listen to NPR, KQED, KALW, KPFA, and KCSM, the 24 hour jazz station. I also enjoy the classical station.
