We had a New Year in Istambul. It was great.
The apartment has good location- close to central street with lots bar, shops and restorans. Near to Russian ambassador;) easy to reach historical center!
The apartment is very cosy and clean, there are all you need ( from towels, hear dryer and some snacks).
Can's place is just a few streets from the busy Galatasaray area and perfectly located if you like being just outside of the tourist area as I do. The area is residential Turkish, but all areas are easily accessible in the old city from here. I felt very at home here, and really appreciated a washing machine. I stayed for 9 days and didn't want to leave. An excellent airbnb stay. And really good wifi.
We stayed for 8 days and can was a wonderful host and his AirBnB apartment was great. He gave us clear directions to his apt and was waiting for us after a long (and delayed) transit. Upon arrival he offered us some Turkish Tea and a few tidbits about Istanbul/neighborhood/Turkey, including a map, and a primer pamphlet to get acquainted with this great city. He also loaned us an Istanbulkart (attached on the key chain to the apt), to facilitate public transit use during our stay.
The apt was clean, cute, and spacious (for 2), with stocked kitchen wares as well as some basic consumables (laundry detergent, water, a few snacks, tea, etc). The radiator kept the unit at the right climate (we visited in late November). The furnishings were stylish and in good condition and bed very comfortable.
The location of the unit was perfect for us, short walking distance to everything hip Beyoglu and Istiklal have to offer, but tucked away in a neighborhood to be away from all the hub bub and noise. The apt is also close to various modes of public transportation (Tram, Subway, bus lines) and grocers.
The apt overall is quiet, but if you need silence to sleep, then I suggest ear plugs as occasional construction in the neighborhood, and the sounds of kids playing in the streets can be heard.
Overall, great experience, would definitely recommend.
First time in Istanbul with the friend and everything was perfect ! The city is beautiful with many different sites to visit, the weather was fantastic (even middle of November) and our flat was great! Perfect location (close to the night life of Istanbul and really silent at the same time).
Can was a great host ! He was welcoming and gave us very useful information.
It is the perfect place to enjoy Istanbul the best way, do not hesitate to contact Can!
Appartement agréable à 5 mn à pied du quartier très animé de la nouvelle ville (bar, café , resto, expositions ...)
Il est accessible en métro aux sites touristiques ( mosquée bleu, sainte Sophie ...)
Très bon rapport qualité prix
Great location to experience local flavor. Neighborhood environment, but only short walk to the beginning of the insetli shopping area. Apartment well furnished, two levels for living made for feeling of a real home. Kitchen, bathroom, shower all very good. Wi-fi intermittent. No hot water on last day, but we left early in morning before owner could fix problem. Taxis to main tourist area about 20 TL, to airport 45 TL. Many little stores within 100 meters of apartment but very steep hills on cobbled streets. Do not recommend it for mobility impaired folks. Overall, a welcome respite from the Tourist traps and teeming masses. Locals were friendly and helpful, not jaded. If you would rather spend money on gifts and sight seeing than on accommodations, this is a great alternative of low priced and quality and safe, so you can buy more Turkish Blue Eye souvenirs for the folks bak home!
Great host, great location. I stayed with a friend for almost a week. Pretty easy to find - we took a taxi from the airport according to Can's directions and found the place immediately. Easy to walk to Taksim and lots of shopping and cheap food. Also easy to take the metro or team to sultanahmet area. Can left a transportation card. I suggest downloading an Istanbul application for an iPhone or something so you don't have to carry your map in front of you. Good stay, I'd stay there again. Highly recommended!
What a perfect host and what a cozy place. We stayed at Galatapera for five nights. Due to a delayed flight we arrived at 4 AM of the night and Can picked us up at the Pera Palace hotel. The day after we got a lunch at the office and Can told us things about the city. The appartment is very cozy, nice furnished and wel located!
Can and his staff were very helpful and responsive, however we found this apartment very disappointing and not suitable for our needs. the location is very shabby and the apartment has little natural light.
The place is situated in a small street just 10 minutes by walk to Galata Bridge. The location is excellent, as you can easily get to any public transport or explore the area around Galata Bridge, Galata tower by foot, or take a tram, bus or metro to visit any other place in Istanbul.
