About this listing
Thanks for checking out my Queen Bed listing!
This is a fantastic location very close to Downtown Denver, which is a quick and easy 10 to 15 minute walk away. My home is close enough to go quickly wherever you want Downtown, but it is remarkably quiet and very restful. I am located in the upscale "Uptown" neighborhood, just east of downtown, in a working-class Victorian home (not elegant, but roomy, with character, lots of light and high ceilings). The common rooms (living room, dining room and kitchen) are available to guests for meeting space, or for just hanging out. In the summer, a large evaporative cooler and ceiling fans keep the whole house cool. The small, fenced garden in back is a work in progress, with a small patio under the grape arbor, and the front porch is ideal for watching the world go by.
The house itself can accommodate up to 10 guests. I have several kinds of accommodations: queen bed in private room, double bed in private room, king bed for up to 3 people (best with small child or children) in private room, and large double sofa bed in living room for families or groups traveling together and who will book the queen bed room as well. There are other sleeping possibilities as well. Family/group rates are negotiable. The two bathrooms are shared. Two-night minimum stay preferred.
This particular room, the Queen Bed Room, accommodates only two adults and perhaps a child. It is quiet, bright and airy, with a comfortable bed, and is a "returning guest" favorite. The queen room comes with a chest of drawers, a nightstand, a cheval mirror, nice closet (shared with some of my things), a large comfortable armchair and another chair suitable for luggage, with modern or contemporary artwork. Guests are welcome to use the dining room table as a desk, or anywhere in the common areas. The queen room is on the first floor of my home. The bathroom is about 10 feet away from the room's door. That downstairs bathroom may be shared, depending on the number of guests.
I provide all bed linens and covers, pillows, towel sets, hair dryer, tissues, shampoo and conditioner, body wash and soap. You will need to bring something to cover you to and from the bathroom.
All taxes (totalling 14.75%) are included in the cost of each room, as are breakfasts. I charge a cleaning fee of $10 per room because of the need to sanitize everything a guest might touch or use, and to clean thoroughly before and after each guest's visit.
Some amenities in my home are Wireless Internet/WiFi, basic cable TV, baby grand piano, fully equipped kitchen and dining room, with Wedgewood china for dining, and all the fixings for a great breakfast, as you like it.
Very nearby are 4 grocery stores, from the basic to the gourmet; a number of liquor and fine wine stores; multiple coffee shops and some Internet cafes; Denver's many beautiful parks, and numbers of great and some renowned restaurants and eateries for breakfast, brunch, lunch, tea, dinner, and dessert. Churches, some beautiful and historical, abound, and many offer some of the most beautiful music and the most interesting services and dialogues around. Entertainment venues too are close by, from Brew Pub Tours to the Denver Performing Arts Complex, movie theaters and world-renowned book stores, excellent museums of all kinds and sizes, including the brand new Clyfford Still Museum, and our wonderful Denver Museum of Nature and Science and The Children's Museum. The gold-domed Colorado State Capitol, the Denver Public Library, the Denver Botanic Gardens, the Downtown Aquarium, and the ever-expanding Denver Zoo are easily reached. Most of these great amenities are within 2 to 3 miles of my home and can be easily accessed by foot or by public transportation (the RTD). The sheer number of great hang-outs of every kind is really astonishing. Denver is truly a Great City!
It is an easy 15-minute walk to downtown or less than 5 minutes to transportation throughout the city. My home is in a perfect location for a wide variety of Denver convention, dining, shopping, athletic, cultural, and entertainment experiences, for individuals and for families. You can avoid the high prices of Downtown, while enjoying all of its offerings just a few minutes away.
There is very easy access to major highways through Colorado. Come for the brilliance of the Colorado blue sky and sunshine and all the amenities that Uptown and Downtown Denver have to offer!
Supervised children are very welcome. Pets and smoking are not welcome.
Living room, dining room, kitchen, refrigerator (with advance planning), laundry room ($3.00 US for wash and dry), patio and porch areas in season.
Interaction with Guests
I generally have a great deal of interaction with my guests. I enjoy getting to know them and am available during the days and evenings. If the need arises, I am also here at night. If a guest prefers no or less interaction, that is fine.
If kitchen is used, guest(s) clean up.
Alexandra was very lovely and we had a wonderful stay. She gave us tons of great information on visiting Denver and even shared the eggs of her chicken, Mary, with us. There are about 5 chickens in the back yard. I would definitely stay again!
This was our first time ever using Airbnb and now we are probably spoiled with how easy it was, how congenial Alexandra was, and how close to downtown it was for the price. All the guests who stayed over the same weekend kept to themselves, and we were all on different schedules so hardly ran into each other which was honestly very nice. The space was small but very sufficient, in a great neighborhood with more than adequate amenities. It's also walking distance to downtown and has plenty of restaurants and activities to keep anyone from kids to adults entertained. Parking was a breeze in the neighborhood and also its surroundings, so no need to to park too far away if your drive. We were so busy we mainly used the stay for rest, by wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend to friends. A very exemplary first experience.
My boyfriend and I had a great time staying with Alexandra. I lived in Denver for two years, and I can really say that her house is in a great location. It's a good walk to some of the best breweries in Denver, downtown, and some really delicious brunch places and other eateries.
Moreover, Alexandra was able to pick us up from the airport for a very reasonable fee, and offered to help us figure out how to return from a wedding we were attending in Larkspur. Although we didn't end up needing this help, it was very kind of her to offer and consistent with the kind of helpful person Alexandra was throughout our stay. For instance, we had a very unfortunate mishap with a salsa bottle spilling in our suitcase, and Alexandra went above and beyond to help us clean all of our salsa-stained clothes. We really lucked out staying with her.
Alexandra was just great - she had everything all organized and ready to use, including things in the kitchen and dining room. The breakfasts were delightful, and - surprise! - included fresh-laid eggs from her pet chickens. When we discovered that on-street parking would be a problem, Alexandra got on the phone and found convenient off-street parking in minutes. The room was just as advertised, and quite comfortable. The location was excellent - we walked to almost every place we wanted to see. Alexandra also has a wealth of knowledge about Denver and, even more interesting for us, about Bolivia, where she taught several years ago. What animated conversation we had! You would be hard pressed to find a more congenial host or place to stay in Denver.
My stay at Alexandra's Bed and Breakfast was one of my best Airbnb experiences ever. She's such an amazing host and person! My bedroom (Queen bed) was spacious with all the necessities. I spent most of my time exploring the neighborhood (which was filled with great restaurants, parks etc.) but when I did return I appreciated having a quiet place to rest up for the next day's adventures. The breakfast items were plentiful and delicious. The other guests were pleasant and even made waffles one of the mornings:) I was impressed with how attentive Alexandra was to all the details. Thank you for a memorable experience:) I will definitely be coming back!
Alexandra is a very gracious host and more than willing to help out those unfamiliar with Denver. It is a great location for walking and using PT to get around denver. Alexandra has maps available too. I stayed in the queen room (1st floor) which abuts both the main room and the kitchen so there is some normal noise but none during normal sleeping hours.
Alexandra has a very cozy and welcoming home! The room was clean and spacious as described. Alexandra was very helpful in providing useful information about Denver i.e. transportation, restaurants, museums. Alexandra’s home is walking distance to several places. Alexandra was also very accommodating with my arrival time, which I truly appreciated. I would most definitely stay here again!

About the Host, Alexandra
Denver native, former teacher, musician, chaplain. Spent 4 years in Bolivia and speak Spanish. I love my home and its location so close to everything. My neighborhood keeps growing upscale, but my home remains surprisingly quiet! My single family home is a true oasis in the city.
Seven wonderful grandchildren and their parents make my life a blessing.
I have really enjoyed welcoming and getting to know my guests from all over the world and the USA, and look forward to many more!
