About This Listing
This is my house mates' bedroom that they rent when they are out of town. It is in a large, cozy house with four creative house mates (artists/musicians). The house is amazingly centrally located and has the feeling of a home away from home.
The bedroom features a large main room plus a huge closet with a window, which is where we keep a full size bed. There is also a rack for hanging clothing and several shelves in the closet. It is truly a Huge closet and makes sleeping feel like you're in a cozy cocoon. The main part of the bedroom is large and has two small desks and chairs, a loveseat that pulls out into a small bed, and a record player and record collection you are free to use!
The house is huge so you never feel cramped here. There are so many different spots to hang out and get comfortable. All of the house mates are very friendly. We are supportive of all kinds of different lifestyles and celebrate diversity and creativity.
We have two cats who are quite friendly as well. One might sit outside your door and cry for pets, sorry in advance! Also, we have a songbird in the dining room and a very sweet and silent dog who doesn't bark.
Please be aware that this house is over 100 years old and hasn't been remodeled. That is what adds to its charm, but can also make it seem a little run-down as well. This isn't a home from a Portland magazine spread, it is a lived-in, cozy, artsy home. We try to keep it very clean but if anything isn't up to your standard please let us know and we will address it immediately!
Guests will have their own private bedroom with full-sized bed. They will have access to two bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a shower and tub, as well as clean towels. They are free to use the kitchen and any dishes that are needed as well as space in the refrigerator. The common areas in the house (living room, dining room, front porch, back porch, basement, back yard) are all open to the guests as well. Guests are also free to use the washer and dryer.
Interaction with Guests
The 2 other adults who live in the house all have varying schedules. We are rarely all home at once. We are all very friendly and can offer suggestions and information about Portland. However, you probably won't interact with us for very long periods of time as we all have a lot going on much of the time.
This house is very centrally located with easy access to downtown via car, bike, or public transit. It is also within walking distance of the Alberta Arts district and the Mississippi neighborhood (two of the coolest spots in Portland full of coffee shops, bars, restaurants, clothing and goods shopping, and music venues). There are also two healthy grocery stores (New Season's and Whole Foods) within a short walk from the house. There is a large and beautiful city park literally 100 feet from the front door as well!
There are major bus lines on both ends of the street within a 1-2 minute walk in each direction.
We ask that our guests pick up after themselves, keeping the common areas clean. We do not charge an additional cleaning fee for the room so we ask that you leave it in good condition. Respect for the house and those who live there is a must!
Shannon's home is really quite cozy and quaint. She made the check in process very easy. Which was very helpful to us as my daughter went on ahead of me and found the place and checked in on her own before I got there. Shannon had the loveseat bed pulled out and made up for us as well, and they were both very comfortable. We were able to easily walk to public transport to get downtown, which takes about 15-20 minutes on the bus. Shannon and her roomate were very easy to communicate with and weren't bothered by my constant questions. Thank you Shannon and Erin!! You helped to make our experience in Portland a very positive one.
Shannon and Erin's place was great. Super easy no-hassle check-in and check-out. The flat is located well. Lots of nice cafes in the area. Thanks to Portland's super good public transport system, it's easy, fast and cheap to get to downtown.
Loved the home, vibes, and our first airbnb experience. Nothing was confusing and they worked with us!
