Big Cozy Room in House with Artists

House - Private room · NE Cook St, Portland, OR 97212, United States
Shannon

This is my house mates' bedroom that they rent when they are out of town. It is in a large, cozy house with three creative house mates (artists/musicians). The house is amazingly centrally located and has the feeling of a home away from home.

This is my house mates' bedroom that they rent when they are out of town. It is in a large, cozy house with three creative house mates (artists/musicians). The house is amazingly centrally located and has the feeling of a home away from home.

The Space

The bedroom features a large main room plus a huge closet with a window, which is where we keep a full size bed. There is also a rack for hanging clothing and several shelves in the closet. It is truly a Huge closet and makes sleeping feel like you're in a cozy cocoon. The main part of the bedroom is large and has a desk and chair, a reading chair and bookshelf, and a record player and record collection you are free to use!

The house is very large so you never feel cramped here. There are so many different spots to hang out and get cozy. All of the house mates are very friendly. We are supportive of all kinds of different lifestyles and celebrate diversity and creativity. We have two cats who are quite friendly as well.

Guest Access

Guests will have their own private bedroom with full-sized bed. They will have access to two bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a shower and tub, as well as clean towels. They are free to use the kitchen and any dishes that are needed as well as space in the refrigerator. The common areas in the house (living room, dining room, front porch, back porch, basement, back yard) are all open to the guests as well. Guests are also free to use the washer and dryer.

Interaction with Guests

The 3 other adults who live in the house all have varying schedules. We are rarely all home at once. We are all very friendly and can offer suggestions and information about Portland. However, you probably won't interact with us for very long periods of time as we all have a lot going on much of the time.

The Neighborhood

This house is very centrally located with easy access to downtown via car, bike, or public transit. It is also within walking distance of the Alberta Arts district and the Mississippi neighborhood (two of the coolest spots in Portland full of coffee shops, bars, restaurants, clothing and goods shopping, and music venues). There are also two healthy grocery stores (New Season's and Whole Foods) within a short walk from the house. There is a large and beautiful city park literally 100 feet from the front door as well!

Getting around

There are major bus lines on both ends of the street within a 1-2 minute walk in each direction.

  • Some confusion about checking in but otherwise no issues there. I think that the room itself was cozy and welcoming. The sheets themselves were a little bit warm for a hot summer evening and our point of contact had left before we could ask her to change them. It was a quick stay so no real complaints.

  • The Big Cozy Room in the quite large “Cuddlehaus” worked out perfectly for my stay in Portland. The room (really two rooms: a sitting room/living area and a very small bedroom) is out of the way, so you don’t feel in the way of the normal goings-on of the house. I met several of the tenants throughout my stay there, and each was nice and helpful. The entire house was clean and comfortable and has at least two very nice and cuddly cats. I am not a cat person, but these guys were great. I will certainly look Shannon and this house up if I am ever back in Portland, and I recommend this place to other Airbnb users.

  • I didn't stay in this room, though I did hung out in it and it is indeed awesome (and huge). Shannon's house is magnificent, had a great artsy, laid-back vibe which is kind of like Portland itself. Everyone living there was really chill, even the dog and the cats! Shannon's really easy to talk to and always around when I had questions.

The location is great, walking distance to the 6 and 4 bus stops which will bring you down town. There's an awesome thrift shop called Rerun just a stone throw's away, and a Whole Foods in about a 10 minute walk. I would absolutely recommend the house for anyone looking for a place that feels truly Portland

  • We didn't stay in the room that is on the photos so I can't speak for the room, but the house is comfortable and very clean. Our room was simple but had everything we needed. The neighborhood is great , there is a park just at the end of the street and a grocery store a few blocks from the house.

  • The house was nice, quite most of the time, and just a general good experience for someone new to Portland. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the city for an extended period.

  • Shannon and roommates were all great folk. Took care of me while staying in their house and filled me in on good events going on around the neighborhood. Location was blocks from a park, a short bike ride from alberta and easily as accessible to downtown. thanks!
