The Space

Situated in a strategic position halfway between Florence and Siena and within easy access of all the most important tourist sites, yet immersed in the quiet of the countryside where the birds sing and in the hot summer evenings the fireflies glow. Far from major roads and motorways the only sound you will hear is the odd tractor ploughing the vines.
What better way to spend a relaxing holiday in our mature garden , taking a dip in the large (12X6 m) pool and sunbathing on wooden sun loungers with mattresses, lunching under the shady pergolas or just sipping a glass of wine, or perhaps reading a book under a shady tree.
With both Florence and Siena little over half an hour away by car what could be easier than sightseeing the wonderful art treasures that Tuscany has to offer, returning in the latter part of the day to enjoy a quick dip before dinner in the garden or a foray out to one of the many typical restaurants in the area…..some of which still very good value.
Cottage Polvereto is a semi detached cottage for two. Entering on the ground floor directly from the garden you enter into the spacious kitchen dining area. The kitchen is fully equipped with hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dish washer and washing machine. The sitting area has two divans and a T.V. which receives via satellite CNN & BBC world. There is a round table and four chairs for dining. Upstairs is a spacious double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with shower. Outside is a shady pergola with wooden garden furniture which faces the large (6m X 12m )pool with wooden loungers with mattresses and a shady pergola and umbrellas.
Free Wi-Fi. Fan in bed room. No hidden extras only local tourist tax 50cts per person per day to be paid locally.

  • We spent an amazing 5 days in Adela's cottage for our honeymoon. The location in the Tuscan hills is absolutely stunning and very well located for lots of great trips out to towns nearby. The cottage itself was lovely and clean, and the swimming pool and gardens were perfect for relaxing after a hectic few weeks of wedding planning. Adela was so welcoming and helpful with lots of recommendations for things to do nearby. My top tip for the area would be a visit to the Antinori vineyard - a stunning piece of modern architecture with some great wine and a lovely restaurant for a spot of lunch, and only 15 minutes from the cottage! My only suggestion would be that when renting a car you consider something more substantial than a Fiat 500 - our little car struggled a bit with the gravel track leading to the cottage. Thank you Adela for making our visit to Tuscany such a memorable one, we definitely hope to come back some time in the future! x

  • We had a great two weeks here. The place is beautiful, nestled on a hilltop at the end of an unpaved (but well maintained) dirt road. Really peaceful, stunning views, wonderful garden and pool area all beautifully maintained. The house was beautifully furnished and had EVERYTHING you needed including a well appointed kitchen. (We like to cook). Adele and her husband are great hosts. Florence & Sienna are nearby as well as tons of delightful little Tuscan villages. Top tip - read the folder Adele provides. Her recommendations of nearby villages away from the tourist crowds are gold!

  • We spent one week at Adela's house and liked it very much. The surrounding, house and garden were much more beautiful than expected. Adela and her husband welcomed us very warmly and made a lot of very good recommendations concerning typical restaurants and interesting places to visit. The apartment was very well-furnished and well-equipped...Adela even provided a bottle of her homemade olive oil, which was by the way very tasty. We can highly recommend this beautiful place for a typical stay in Tuscany.

  • We had searched high and low for a perfect place to stay in Tuscany, and found it online in this hillside cottage for two. It met all our expectations and beyond and really is as exquisite as it appears in the photos if not moreso.
It is the most tranquil setting – only three cottages (maximum 10 people in total and no-one under 14) sharing Adela and her husband’s wonderful hilltop castle setting. The garden is fragrant as well as beautiful with 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside. Each cottage has its own individual outside dining area complete with floral arbours to provide shade. The pool was so clean and refreshing with more than enough loungers with and without shade for all the guests to enjoy – often we had it to ourselves. The cottage itself was delightful, spotlessly clean, characterful and nicely furnished. Adela is the most incredible host and everything has been thought through to make guests stay as pleasurable and smooth as possible. Our cottage was well equipped with a washing machine and a dishwasher, all the kitchen utensils you might need on holiday, even a salad spinner. Start-up items were also thought of from dishwashing tablets, mosquito repellent devices and tea to balsamic vinegar and Adela’s very own delicious Olive Oil. Adela provides each cottage with a brilliantly useful dossier of local restaurants, directions and itineraries including routes to less obvious places of interest, and she was extremely helpful in making bookings and also suggestions that all made our stay even better and more memorable. We spent a blissful week mixing up relaxing (aka lazing) in the gorgeous garden and pool having simple salads and going exploring near and far. One week sped by too fast and we very much hope to return.

  • Among the abundance of villas in Tuscany, Adela's villa is truly a hidden gem. Set on top of a hill with a beautiful view, it offers a precious and well kept garden with a nice pool to relax - and first and foremost peace after an exhausting day on the tourist tracks. Adela is a wonderful host. Communication before our arrival was excellent and she was very helpful throughout our stay, with ticket reservations, restaurant suggestions and above all, perfect written descriptions to all the places of interest. Thank you Adela for a magnificent stay - hope to see you again soon!

  • If your looking for the authentic Tuscan stay up in the hills amongst the olive trees and vineyards, this is it! The restored church-castle was everything and more than what we expected. The drive up from Tarvenelle and Noce to Adela's was an adventure and visual feast of it's own, and you may even spot some nonnas! Adela is a warm and genuine lady who has gone to the effort of making clear instructions to her house, recommendations of places to visit (complete with directions and they work!) and the restaurants to eat at. The cottage has all the comforts of home, washing machine, dishwasher, stove, large comfy bed, awesome shower, hair dryer and Adela's delicious olive oil in the cupboard. We throughly recommend staying here. Thank you Adela for sharing your home with us, this has been a highlight in our adventure around Europe.

About
My lust for travel found me a job as a travel rep. working for various companies in France, Switzerland and Italy. Tired of travelling and constantly living out of a suitcase I decided to settle in Italy for its good food, wine and above all the weather and when I met my Italian husband and we had the possibility we decided to make Tuscany our home. Later when our son started school I wanted to work again so what better than to set up a rentals business and share our home with others and impart my extensive knowledge of Tuscany with our guests. We enjoy having guests on the property and many have now become good friends and return frequently, its a part of our lives and often we all go out to dinner together or even to events and concerts to make their visit (and yours) special. Welcome.
