About this listing
This is a well appointed century home within walking distance to downtown St Catharines for access to a variety of restaurants and pubs. It is only a 15 minute drive to Niagara Falls and a 20 minute drive to Niagara on the Lake, a lovely historical town and home of the world famous Shaw Festival for professional theatre. (Public transportation is also available.) We are in the heart of wine country with almost 100 wineries, most of which have tours and tastings, in the immediate vicinity. The Welland Canal which passes right through the city also makes for a very interesting visit as you can watch huge shipping vessels 'cllimb' the locks as they travel through the Great Lakes. Toronto, a large cosmopolitan city, is just over an hour away.
Guests would have access to the bright sunroom for watching TV, perhaps playing with the Wii or just relaxing. They are also welcome to use the kitchen facilities and In warm weather there is a screened in porch which is lovely for enjoying a bug free meal. WiFi is available. There is off road parking as well. Breakfast could be self catered or prepared.
I have three bedrooms so would be able to accommodate up to 5 guests.
The double room on the second floor has an antique bed with a custom made mattress adorned with a handmade Mennonite quilt. Facing east means lots of morning sunshine. The bathroom would be shared by occupants of the queen room.
The queen room on the second floor has a very comfortable queen bed and is a Florida-like coral and white decor. The bathroom would be shared by occupants of the double room.
I regret that my home is not suitable for young children.
In general check in would be from 4:00 and check out before 10:00. However this could be modified with advance notice if necessary.
A lovely quick stay. The house was right near downtown St Catharine's and about 25 minutes from the Falls. Barbara made breakfast for me both mornings that I was there and was very kind and helpful with recommendations for places to eat and things to do. The bed was comfortable and the street is quiet. Would definitely stay again :) thanks Barbara!
Barbara was a delightful host and even provided breakfast in the morning. She, and her well-kept house, totally reflected her already outstanding reviews. Thanks again Barbara! :)
The stay at Barbara's home was fantastic! The neighborhood was very quiet and parking was no problem. I slept very well and the amazing breakfast was a great day start. Thanks for this awesome stay.
Woke up every morning to Barbara smiling and in the kitchen making breakfast. What a treat! Barbara is organized which made booking with her a pleasure, and her house is very accessible by public transport or by car. Barbara is easygoing and i felt at ease in her charming home and lovely garden. Barbara hosts often in the summer months so you may have the pleasure of meeting (and breakfasting with) some other travellers. I would definitely stay again!
Barbara is the best Airbnb host I met so far!
She is very patient and helpful to answer my questions before I arrived (website hidden). Catherine is a quiet and peaceful little town.
Her house is very comfortable with beautiful decorations, which made me feel like home.
There is delicious breakfast provided every morning as well.
She has three cats that are very gentle and cute.
I spent two nights at her place. The first day, I went to Niagara Falls and the second day to Niagara-On-the-Lake. This shows that the location is good and the transportation is convenient even without car.
I strongly recommend Barbara and her place if you are going to Niagara Area.
I was only at Barbara's place for a few hours to sleep but she was a fantastic communicator, was very accommodating, and warm and friendly. I was rushing out the door in the morning and didn't have time for breakfast but she put a delicious fruit salad into a takeout container for me. Above and beyond:) I had the single room on the main floor just off the dining room. It was pleasant. Could hear people moving around in the morning outside my door but it was nothing extreme. All around a great experience and was so happy to have a clean bed to lay my head on during the busy weekend.

About the Host, Barbara
I'm a pretty easy going, positive person who enjoys meeting new people. My philosphy is to just enjoy life and try to be thoughtful to those around me. I've always lived in the Niagara peninsula but love to travel as often as I can. I'm retired from an IT position with the local school board but now keep busy as a financial planner and tax preparer. Besides travel, other hobbies include photography, theatre, gardening, playing bridge and playing Scrabble. My house is shared by three lovely cats. As a guest I would be quiet and considerate. As a host I would do my very best to provide a warm welcome to my guests.
