The space
Browns Shack Cabin offers a rustic, tiny house experience with a reclaimed/upcycled ethos in mind.
It features a double bed and an en-suite shower with compost/waterless toilet, a small folding table for dining indoors, and a small 'kitchenette' under the eaves. Water is from mains supply and is safe to drink. There is heating and hot water. Please be aware that hot water is from an under-counter water heater so provides only for quick showers.
We welcome a quiet, well-behaved dog at no extra charge. Only one furry friend allowed (sorry, no cats). Please keep your dog on the lead on the property. Guests can walk and toilet their dog in the paddocks on a lead.
Location of property: Off A21, convenient for visiting local attractions. 2 mins drive or 15 mins walk to village, train station and bus stop. Village has a café and bakery, shops, pubs, restaurant, surgery, pharmacy, post office and vet. Please expect some traffic noise.
Location of shack cabin within property: Situated within a fenced in, dipped and small wooded area. Access is via a sloping walkway ramp off our driveway. Please see photo of property layout and boundary.
Shared area: This wooded area is shared with guests at Browns Shepherd Hut. The shack cabin and shepherd hut have separate areas with own fire bowl and outdoor dining space. Guests share access to the 'tree house' viewing platform in the wooded area.
Restrictions: Non-staying guests are not permitted on the property. Guests should be mindful and respectful of other guests and wildlife who share the space. No outdoor music allowed. When using the fire bowl, please be considerate of others upwind. Frequent/incessant burning is not allowed.
Heating and hot water: Portable infrared heater, electric ‘fire’ stove, electric blanket. Please be aware that hot water is from an under-counter water heater so provides only for quick showers.
‘Kitchenette’ facilities: Sink, portable double cooker, kettle, toaster, cafetiere, cutlery, crockery and utensils, and a small, under counter fridge inside the cabin.
BBQ: BBQ unit and utensils provided for cooking outdoors.
Fire Bowl: On decking for exclusive use by shack guests only.
Fuel: Starter supply only of kindling and logs for fire bowl and charcoal BBQ. We do not sell fuel. If you require extra, bring your own or purchase from village country store, or nearby supermarkets/petrol stations.
WiFi: Available at property however weak in wooded area.
Sightseeing in 1066 Country: We recommend driving to enjoy the various attractions of 1066 Country High Weald AONB. E.g. 15 mins drive or less to Battle Abbey, Bodiam Castle, Pashley Manor Gardens, Darwell Wood, Scotney Castle and Carr Taylor Vineyard. 30 mins drive to Rye, Hastings, Camber Sands beach, Chapel Down Vinery and Herstmonceux Castle. Taxis/hackney cabs must be booked well in advance.

Other things to note
Leave Little Trace
Eco-friendly, biodegradable body wash, shampoo, hand soap and washing up liquid are provided. If you would like to use your own, please bring only eco-friendly, biodegradable products.
Wi-Fi Connection
Wi-Fi is available on the property through external/outdoor access points. However, please note that signal is weak or spotty in the woods.
Shared Space, Mutual Consideration
We live on the property and share it with our animal friends. Please be considerate and mind appropriate noise levels and be respectful of resident wildlife as well as other guests. Non-guests are not allowed on the property. Outdoor entertainment (e.g. cinema/music) is not permitted.
Mindful Use of Fire Bowl
Please be mindful of safety and considerate to others upwind when making fires. Please use the fire bowl in a reasonable and moderate manner. Avoid excessive burning, such as:
* Making a large bonfire
* Filling the fire bowl to the top or overflowing
* Constant or prolonged burning throughout the day or night
