If you let us know in advance we will have your favorite soda, water or refreshment available for you.
The house is non-smoking but outside is fine. We currently do not have any animals but we hope to find a new puppy soon. The room is only accessible from the inside of our home, so you must be comfortable going through our home. Also, the bedroom is up a spiral staircase, so you must be physically able to climb stairs.
Herb and Joyce were extremely warm, caring, and informative hosts. They made a delicious meal on the night of our arrival of which they kindly offered us to join them. We spent two and a half hours sharing stories and learning about wine from Herb. We had an amazing time in their cozy guest bedroom and enjoyed the hot tub after dinner with nothing but a clear, starry sky above. Their country house was nestled in the woods and we will definitely be returning during the springtime and summer to see the beautiful flowers and grapes. Meeting Herb and Joyce was a pleasure, and was one of our most memorable moments on our Valentine's Day trip to Omaha.
Herb & Joyce were so flexible on when we arrived, and Herb met us outside as we arrived. They also helped us with our bags and even held the baby!
The area they live in is GORGEOUS. So serene and peaceful. House is beautiful, well maintained, and very homey and relaxing.
Her & Joyce are wonderful hosts. I felt like family coming home for a visit.
Herb was very patient with our late arrival and very pleasant overall. He made us spaghetti and wine for dinner ($10 a person) and he and his wife made us scones and coffee for breakfast (included). They offered us more for breakfast, however, we had to get on the road. Overall the stay was everything we expected and more. The accommodations were comfortable and pleasant and we had everything we needed. A few things to keep in mind for future travelers. 1. The stairs are as bad as everyone says. They are very narrow and hard to get up and down. This location is best to stay at when you've packed lightly and don't have to carry luggage up and down the stairs. 2. The driveway is gravel and quite slick and possibly dangerous in the winter. I drive an all wheel drive vehicle and am a Minnesotan and still wasn't certain I was going to make it back to the main road. 3. The directions given by Herb are better than what is offered by the GPS. There is a toll bridge that we accidentally took, which, had we followed the directions, could have been avoided. Overall this is a pleasant place to stay and highly recommended, however, I only gave it 4 stars, I would probably offer it 5 stars in the summer, given the driveway.
This is a great little getaway--very relaxing and quiet.
Our stay at Herb's lovely country home was perfect.
They gave us recommendations for a amazing dinner in town, and the private bedroom suite was very cozy and comforting.
Delicious homemade treats for breakfast and lovely, caring hosts made us feel at home, away from home. It was a great stay!
It was so nice to spend the night at Herb and Joyce's home. They certainly have a nice life in Nebraska and I enjoyed their hospitality immensely! A lovely home in comfortable surroundings and Joyce's homemade marmalade is a treat!
