The apartment is in a great location, convenient to the F and R trains into Manhattan and near many restaurants. I found the space and amenities to be as described, and the air conditioning, though a bit loud, worked very well. I enjoyed my stay. At the same time, I feel I should warn perspective guests that I had a hard time getting hold of Maura before my stay. When I booked months before, Maura asked me to contact her a week before my stay for information on how to get the key to the apartment, which I did. After five days of unsuccessfully trying to reach Maura by email, text and telephone, I called Airbnb. They reached her immediately, and I received the key info a few hours before my trans-Atlantic flight to New York. This slightly stressful pre-trip experience, paired with the apartment door key that requires a good deal of jiggling in the lock before it turns, might prove a bit unnerving for the more anxious travelers out there. But, I repeat, I had a good stay overall.
I booked Maura's place for my parents when they came to visit. If you are looking for a place to host guests in park slope this place is great! It was perfect for my parent's stay and had everything they needed, was on a quiet street, easy to find, and easy to get into as guests. Place is somewhat bare bones, has a small table, king bed, and tv.. but as they used the apartment as a crash pad to sleep after exploring the city it was great. Would recommend!!
The flat is exactly as shown by the pictures. The bathroom and the kitchen are small but there's anything you may need. The house is very clean and close to the metro stations. Neighbourhood is simply amazing and very safe.
Maura's place was perfect! A great location, clean, good amount of space and a wonderful kind-sized bed. The pad was perfectly located in middle of Park Slope, with endless bars and restaurants to walk to. I'll definitely be back!
Consider this only if you need a budget option for lodging. Very little has been done to make the visitor feel at home.
Pros: The location is within walking distance of several subway stops. There are good options for dining in the vicinity. The linens were clean. The king-sized bed was comfortable. The air-conditioning worked well. The refrigerator was clean. The price is low.
Cons: Maura, the host, is hard to reach. (As one of the previous reviews indicated: it's more effective to call her home number, as she didn't respond to emails or texts.) Once reached, her manner is very unpleasant and brusque. Though there were a number of extra sheets in the apartment, none of them actually fit the futon! The wireless is VERY spotty. The bathroom is tiny and a bit dingy, as others have noted. The cable TV did not work.
Location is great: you can walk 200 mt and get the bus 63 to metro station or walk 0,8 km and get the R subway to Manhattan (just 30 min ride). Park Slope is really a nice place: nice people, nice places.
The apartment is little but everything is ok. I found it little provided of glasses, but it can be a personal opinion, and we have a problem with the table that is unsteady. We had a problem with the internet: we could access the wifi network but not browser the internet through it. I wrote Maura some messages but we couldn’t fix it. Such a pity, cause we expected to use it.
